Morning all! That is so beautiful up there. I love delicate white flowers and always look for them to bring home and put in all my odd brown crockery. Is that flower up there the one that smells kind of peppery?
Hot today again and the window guy is coming back out to measure and count the windows that have broken seals. Sometimes the upkeep on homes can be overwhelming!..and costly! But we remain oh so thankful to our Lord for His provision and blessing.
I currently have one wonderful surprise guest who is here until Saturday, when a long-planned guest arrives for a few day as the breakpoint for a drive home to Arizona.
We’re apparently getting another surprise guest as soon as she can get here from Newark— where she’s been stuck a few days because United can’t get her home to Australia.
She’ll stay with us until she can fly home out ofSFO.
(The last time she got stranded in American was in 2020–she stayed with friends in LA for 5 months).
We also have three Finnish foreign exchange students arriving, also on Saturday, for 2.5 weeks. Just learned about them last week.
And with that, ALL the rooms and beds in the house, including the sleeping bag, will be full.
If only I didn’t have a Friday deadline . . . I may need to go to Costco today!
So Michelle, after the exchange students leave, will you be “finished” with “surprise guests”? 😉 And how can you call them surprise if you know they’re coming?
Today is supposed to begin our heat wave. This weekend we will have 100 degree days.
I got invited to the widow’s luncheon at my church today. I am so delighted. Those gals are very special and some of the older ones only come to this event.
Wes and I went for a nice hike. A giant tree had fallen down across the path. No way I could have crossed it. And then Wes noticed it had a hornet’s nest in a hollow of the tree at the point where some people might try to climb over it. Now I feel I need to contact a park overseer to let them know to warn people.
It is a private park so I need to search to find a contact number.
Son was out harvesting pie cherries this morning (hopefully some will make it into a pie!) when he noticed a bald faced hornet nest in one of the shrubs. He sprayed it with two empty cans of hornet spray.
Surprise in that they called and asked and then arrived the next day. With the exception of the friend driving to AZ, none of these were known to me 9 days ago! LOL
Speaking of high prices. . . I saw a funny post yesterday saying that the price of an item had gone up to cover the cost of switching to the smaller packaging. 😀
Finished vacuuming the entire house and put the Beam vacuum away. I even moved furniture, but not the bookcases or the heavy couch. Found a part of the air popper under my chair. This is the first time I have vacuumed everything even the closets downstairs. Still messy but I could have someone over now. So glad that the stairs are done, since they are vinyl planks it wasn’t too hard.
A sweet sound is the vacuum sucking Miller moths in the house! Throooouuup!!!! The numbers of them are beginning to taper off but boy oh boy the dead ones in light fixtures and along the baseboards of the upstairs bedrooms!! Nasty critters they are!!!!
Janice – In case you missed it, this was my comment to you on today’s news thread:
“Janice – I am sorry that you felt offended by my comment yesterday. I was referring to those who commented on the tweet on Twitter, where one would expect the followers to know one way or the other if it was serious or not.”
I finally mowed today after waiting 3 weeks. About half the lawn didn’t nee it, so I only mowed the part that had high weeds there. Some rainy days in the forecast.
Good morning, Wanderers!
I am trying to decide what flower/blossom delights our eyes today. Is it sumac? It’s not cauli-flower!😀
We have Code Orange alert for this afternoon because of Canadian wildfire smoke.

We’re now getting the smoke from Canada. We’re under an air quality alert. Quincy, IL, parks department cancelled all its outdoor activities today.

Good morning, all.
Yes, it was a very good year. But I do not go to, what do you call it? Restaurants.
Canada has fires?

We studied Ephesians 5 last week and covered the verse used in this article, https://www.crosswalk.com/slideshows/10-classic-hymns-you-might-remember-and-why-they-re-important.html

I noficed that the cherries at Sam’s seemed rather expensive yesterday. I am making strawberry shortcake today.

I have a vacuum cleaner. It was a Christmas present many years ago, at my request. I use it for emergencies. Spiders.

I most recently used my vacuum cleaner on the stairs. Easy to skip until spiders start to hang out in the neglected corners😀🕷Gotcha!

I still have not caught up with my mowing. The grass is three plus feet tall. It takes a while.
