  1. The carp are spawning at the lake. (on the right)

I thought the other thing was a rock. Then I realized it was moving around. Turns out it was a big snapper. The lower pic is of his head.

  2. Wow! I thought that was a cat’s head sticking up out of the water. Thanks for explaining!

What are people reading this summer? I just ordered books for son’s birthday gifts. We receive lists twice a year.

I will be reading God’s Big Picture by Vaughn Roberts for my next Bible study. I hope to soon get Michelle’s book on Audible. My friend mentioned a possible trip to see the home of Flannery O’Conner so I may choose to listen to her stories. Wes gave me a nook of the stories years back so I have read some. I especially remember A Good Man Is Hard to Find. What a dark one it is!

  3. Morning! My first thought was the Loch Ness monster resurfacing up there!! 😊

I am reading Michelle’s book and another book by Lisa Windgate. I need to find a classic to read as I have been doing that every summer…except I have never been able to finish Dombey and Son for some reason…too wordy and I always get lost!

  4. I just finished Mike Pompeo’s book. It was not a fun read, but quite informative. I am now reading, The Secret Gate which is about getting people out of Afghanistan when it fell. I have just started it, but it makes me ashamed of complaining about the little things that irritate me.

Which reminds me that we finally got our new mattress. A few weeks after it was promised. I was very surprised to see one of the people delivering it was a young woman. She tried to put our mattress on her back and lift it but was unable to do so. I was watching and saying, no, no, no in my mind, worrying she would hurt her back! Thankfully, she realized that was a bad idea and she just helped carry it with the guy she was with. He spoke great English and Spanish. She only spoke Spanish, so I have no idea if she even knows English. He said people are quitting at the place warehouse where they work, which probably explains the long delay.

Our daughter from TN will be here for a week, so it will be a busy time. We need to pick her up from the airport shortly.

  5. It has been interesting to live in other parts of the world, witnessing how different cultures move things.
Some folks wear harnesses to carry heavy loads.
In Okinawa, the small delivery folk would just toss things on their backs (mattresses, appliances, etc).
Here, people just call a group of friends and neighbors and get it done.

  6. Went to Walmart yesterday. Found a good set of sheets and other things. Then as I was going to pay I saw the pride things. yuk, I visibly flinched away. Not sure where to shop.

  7. As I was leaving I saw at mama deer at the edge of my yard and there was a fawn. The fawn was inside the neighbor’s dog pen which is quite large. I was worried until someone showed me that the gate was open. Looked like only a day old

  8. Jo it seems to be up to the managers as to whether or not those items will be in the store. Our closest Walmart has none nor does our Kohl’s. None of the shops in our closest town where I tend to go has had any of those sorts of promotions. My heart is always dismayed when I see those items as well….
I sent my DIL’s package to her this morning then stopped in at Home depot to look at their flowers. They practically had none! I did spy one healthy hanging planter and a really pretty Shasta Daisy that has frilly petals. I have to find a place for them and I did hide my newly purchased deer deterrent in my petunias. Hoping it works well for me as is does for my friend down the road! I am seeing lots of deer wandering through lately….I love seeing the fawns but they lose their “cute” as soon as they go munching on my flowers!

  10. I really don’t want my prodocts and stores to be socially aware.
If I want something from Target I want to go to Target and get it. If I want coffee, I want to go to Starbucks and get it. If I need the best chickpeas and black beans I want to buy Goya. If I want something from Disney I want to be able to get it. If I want Chik Fil A I want Chik Fil A.

I will keep my political views to myself and I want them to keep their’s private too.

Husband came in with something in his hand asking me if I knew what it could be? He found it on Lu’s bib. A TICK!!!! He then found another…I am officially creeped out!!! 😳

  12. I saw a newborn fawn too this week! Then I saw a HUGE black bear. So fun to watch wildlife from a safe spot.

I had such a busy day today. So much work to do. Then I came home and had to mow our grass.
