In August 2020, while a candidate, he led a BLM “protest” at the home of Bob Kroll, who then was the head of the police union in the City of Minneapolis. We wrote about that here and elsewhere. Thompson, a disgusting individual, led a crowd in obscene chants and threatened violence against those associated with the Minneapolis Police Department. He also brought effigies of Kroll and his wife, Liz Collin, an award-winning anchor on a local television news program. He repeatedly beat the effigy of Ms. Collin with a stick. So it is a little ironic that Liz broke today’s big story in Minnesota: former Representative John Thompson’s son Derrick was speeding on Highway 35W North, Friday night in Minneapolis. Observed (and perhaps pursued, this isn’t clear) by a state patrol car, he exited onto Lake Street and ran a red light at the bottom of the ramp at absurdly high speed. Reportedly, he was driving a $75,000 Cadillac Escalade.
Running the light, he plowed into a car in which five young Somali women were driving. They were together, preparing for a friend’s wedding. This is what young Thompson did:”

Breaking out large counties with over 100,000 people, which is where 88% of murders in the U.S. occur, shows a similar, though even more extreme, difference. The murder rate data for counties that Biden won is much higher than for those that Trump won.
The difference between Biden and Trump states is again driven by the Biden counties in the Republican states having much worse murder rates than those in the Democrat states and those are also the counties with the largest black populations.
The murder rates are much higher for Democrat counties both in states that voted for Biden and states that voted for Trump, but it is the high murder rates in Democrat counties that are causing the higher murder rates in Republican states in 2020. The Biden counties in Republican states averaged a murder rate of almost eight per 100,000 people, up from 4.4 in Democrat states. The Trump counties had only slightly higher murder rates in the Republican states.
Consider two very heavily Democrat jurisdictions in heavily Republican states: St. Louis, Missouri; and New Orleans, Louisiana. Over 80% of the voters in both places voted for Biden, though only about 40% of the voters in those states voted for him. Their murder rates are also extremely high, with St. Louis at 52 per 100,000 people and New Orleans at 50. With their large populations, they were a major reason why Missouri’s and Louisiana’s murder rates were 11.8 and 15.8 per 100,000 people, respectively. By contrast, the murder rate for the U.S. as a whole was 6.5.
Thus, the CPRC research shows that blue pockets scattered across the U.S. map are the zones where most violent crime is committed, and it underscores how the generalizations on one partisan side or the other can mislead. ”

“D.C. Hits Grim Homicide Milestone at Fastest Rate in 20 Years”
“A shocking daytime shooting of an eight months pregnant woman in Washington, D.C., this weekend served as another grim reminder of how bad the murder epidemic has become in the nation’s capital. The incident occurred just days after the D.C. police union announced that the city had already crossed 100 homicides in 2023 – the earliest date the city has reached that figure since 2003 and more evidence of the tragic lasting consequences of the “Defund the Police” movement.
According to a press release from the police union, on average over the past ten years D.C. did not hit 100 murders until October 25. Yet that date has moved up dramatically since 2020. The 100th D.C. homicide was recorded on June 24 in 2022 and on July 10 in 2021.
In total, murders are up 15 percent this year in D.C. over last year, and the city is on pace to record over 200 homicides for the third straight year. In some particularly hard-hit parts of the city, the murder rate has spiked more than 100 percent over last year.
Other crime is also up. The police union reported that robberies citywide have spiked 34 percent this year, while carjackings – which already shattered records in 2021 and 2022 – are up another 57 percent in 2023.
The rise in crime hasn’t been confined to traditionally dangerous parts of the city. In February, Minnesota Rep. Angie Craig was attacked in the elevator of her upscale D.C. apartment. A few weeks later, a staffer of Kentucky Senator Rand Paul was stabbed just blocks away.”
“Parents who send their kids to New York public schools have lots to worry about. Is he really learning? Is she really safe? And: Is the school gender-transitioning my child behind my back?
Earlier this week, the New York State Department of Education (NYSED) published a “legal update and best practice” document for how schools should serve “transgender and gender expansive” students. The key takeaway: if your child decides that he or she wants to socially transition to the opposite gender, it is now a “best practice” for the school to lie to you about it.
“Only the student,” the NYSED declares, “knows whether it is safe to share their identity with a caregiver.” The baseline assumption, then, is that “unaffirming” parents are dangerous to their children. If Kevin wants to go by “Kimi” but doesn’t want his parents to know, the best practice, according to NYSED, is as follows: “The teachers call her Kimi and use she/her pronouns at school. When calling home for any reason, teachers use the name Kevin and he/him pronouns.”
Leading experts like Hilary Cass, a medical doctor who documented rampant malpractice in England’s Tavistock child gender clinic, have explained that social transition is not a neutral act but rather an active psychosocial and arguably even medical intervention. Finnish medical authorities have discouraged gender self-identification for children, recognizing its potential to disrupt healthy development and result in unnecessary medicalization. While activists believe that transition is beneficial to mental health, a new study in the U.K. finds no improvement for socially transitioned kids relative to control groups. Evidence suggests that treating children as if they are the opposite sex can cause their feelings of gender dysphoria to persist and increase the likelihood that they will seek experimental hormonal intervention.
If the NYSED has its way, schools will also effectively market experimental hormonal interventions. Its new policy recommends that all schools, at a minimum, adhere to the guidelines of the National Sex Education Standards, which state that children should learn about puberty blockers by fifth grade. It may be doubted whether schools would provide the full medical picture concerning the use of puberty blockers, including the lack of evidence for their benefits, the serious long-term side effects, and the near-certain progression to cross-sex hormones that can cause permanent sexual dysfunction and sterility.
The National Sex Education Standards also recommend introducing children to the concept of “gender identity” starting in kindergarten. As a next step, NYSED recommends that staff actively solicit sexual and gender information by “ask[ing] students which terms they use and generally us[ing] the term the student uses to describe themselves.” (This includes terms such as “agender,” which “refers to a person who does not identify with or experience any gender, [and] is different from nonbinary because many nonbinary people do experience gender.”) In New York, schools now apparently stand ready to tell five-year-olds that they might have been born in the wrong body, socially transition them behind their parents’ backs, and steer them toward experimental hormonal interventions.
Public polling suggests that NYSED’s policies on gender are massively unpopular. About 70 percent of registered voters oppose teaching students in elementary school about sexual orientation and gender identity, and 75 percent say that schools should be required to get parental consent before facilitating a gender transition.
But when it comes to public education, the will of parents matters far less than the whim of activist-captured bureaucrats. These widely unpopular “best practices” have been sent out to schools as a “legal update”—and school district administrators and principals will not unreasonably assume that the recommendations are required for legal compliance.”

In an apparent effort to distinguish himself from better-performing candidates in the Republican field, Christie — presently ranked seventh on average with less than two points to his name in the polls — has come out in support of child gender transition surgeries.
The Republican presidential candidate told CNN’s Jake Tapper during his Sunday appearance on “State of the Nation” that he doesn’t think “the government should ever be stepping into the place of the parents in helping to move their children through a process where those children are confused or concerned about their gender.”
Tapper prompted the response in part by referencing Christie’s past support for the transgender agenda.
Rebuffing the warnings of groups like the NJ Family Policy Council, Christie ratified Democrat legislation (S-3067/A-465) in 2017, barring public school districts from requiring transvestic students to use bathrooms or locker rooms corresponding with their biological sex.
As the result of this law, schools in the state are required to allow students to dress in accordance with their “gender identity,” keep parents in the dark about a student’s “transgender or transition status,” and allow students to participate in gym sports with members of the opposite sex.”

The lawyers to whom I spoke are fully aware of this threat — and they are taking it seriously.”

While the murder rates in Trump counties in the states Trump won are only slightly higher than those in Trump counties in states Biden won, the Biden counties in Trump states had an 83% higher murder than in Biden states. This may say more about law enforcement and demographics than it does about state gun control laws.
For example, African Americans commit half the murders in the United States, though they comprise only 13.6% of the population. The counties that Biden won have almost four times the percentage of black voters. That gap is even larger in the counties in the states that Trump carried than the states that Biden carried.
Breaking out large counties with over 100,000 people, which is where 88% of murders in the U.S. occur, shows a similar, though even more extreme, difference. The murder rate data for counties that Biden won is much higher than for those that Trump won.
The difference between Biden and Trump states is again driven by the Biden counties in the Republican states having much worse murder rates than those in the Democrat states and those are also the counties with the largest black populations.
The murder rates are much higher for Democrat counties both in states that voted for Biden and states that voted for Trump, but it is the high murder rates in Democrat counties that are causing the higher murder rates in Republican states in 2020. The Biden counties in Republican states averaged a murder rate of almost eight per 100,000 people, up from 4.4 in Democrat states. The Trump counties had only slightly higher murder rates in the Republican states.
Consider two very heavily Democrat jurisdictions in heavily Republican states: St. Louis, Missouri; and New Orleans, Louisiana. Over 80% of the voters in both places voted for Biden, though only about 40% of the voters in those states voted for him. Their murder rates are also extremely high, with St. Louis at 52 per 100,000 people and New Orleans at 50. With their large populations, they were a major reason why Missouri’s and Louisiana’s murder rates were 11.8 and 15.8 per 100,000 people, respectively. By contrast, the murder rate for the U.S. as a whole was 6.5.
Thus, the CPRC research shows that blue pockets scattered across the U.S. map are the zones where most violent crime is committed, and it underscores how the generalizations on one partisan side or the other can mislead. ”

“A shocking daytime shooting of an eight months pregnant woman in Washington, D.C., this weekend served as another grim reminder of how bad the murder epidemic has become in the nation’s capital. The incident occurred just days after the D.C. police union announced that the city had already crossed 100 homicides in 2023 – the earliest date the city has reached that figure since 2003 and more evidence of the tragic lasting consequences of the “Defund the Police” movement.
According to a press release from the police union, on average over the past ten years D.C. did not hit 100 murders until October 25. Yet that date has moved up dramatically since 2020. The 100th D.C. homicide was recorded on June 24 in 2022 and on July 10 in 2021.
In total, murders are up 15 percent this year in D.C. over last year, and the city is on pace to record over 200 homicides for the third straight year. In some particularly hard-hit parts of the city, the murder rate has spiked more than 100 percent over last year.
Other crime is also up. The police union reported that robberies citywide have spiked 34 percent this year, while carjackings – which already shattered records in 2021 and 2022 – are up another 57 percent in 2023.
The rise in crime hasn’t been confined to traditionally dangerous parts of the city. In February, Minnesota Rep. Angie Craig was attacked in the elevator of her upscale D.C. apartment. A few weeks later, a staffer of Kentucky Senator Rand Paul was stabbed just blocks away.”

“Parents who send their kids to New York public schools have lots to worry about. Is he really learning? Is she really safe? And: Is the school gender-transitioning my child behind my back?
Earlier this week, the New York State Department of Education (NYSED) published a “legal update and best practice” document for how schools should serve “transgender and gender expansive” students. The key takeaway: if your child decides that he or she wants to socially transition to the opposite gender, it is now a “best practice” for the school to lie to you about it.
“Only the student,” the NYSED declares, “knows whether it is safe to share their identity with a caregiver.” The baseline assumption, then, is that “unaffirming” parents are dangerous to their children. If Kevin wants to go by “Kimi” but doesn’t want his parents to know, the best practice, according to NYSED, is as follows: “The teachers call her Kimi and use she/her pronouns at school. When calling home for any reason, teachers use the name Kevin and he/him pronouns.”
Leading experts like Hilary Cass, a medical doctor who documented rampant malpractice in England’s Tavistock child gender clinic, have explained that social transition is not a neutral act but rather an active psychosocial and arguably even medical intervention. Finnish medical authorities have discouraged gender self-identification for children, recognizing its potential to disrupt healthy development and result in unnecessary medicalization. While activists believe that transition is beneficial to mental health, a new study in the U.K. finds no improvement for socially transitioned kids relative to control groups. Evidence suggests that treating children as if they are the opposite sex can cause their feelings of gender dysphoria to persist and increase the likelihood that they will seek experimental hormonal intervention.
If the NYSED has its way, schools will also effectively market experimental hormonal interventions. Its new policy recommends that all schools, at a minimum, adhere to the guidelines of the National Sex Education Standards, which state that children should learn about puberty blockers by fifth grade. It may be doubted whether schools would provide the full medical picture concerning the use of puberty blockers, including the lack of evidence for their benefits, the serious long-term side effects, and the near-certain progression to cross-sex hormones that can cause permanent sexual dysfunction and sterility.
The National Sex Education Standards also recommend introducing children to the concept of “gender identity” starting in kindergarten. As a next step, NYSED recommends that staff actively solicit sexual and gender information by “ask[ing] students which terms they use and generally us[ing] the term the student uses to describe themselves.” (This includes terms such as “agender,” which “refers to a person who does not identify with or experience any gender, [and] is different from nonbinary because many nonbinary people do experience gender.”) In New York, schools now apparently stand ready to tell five-year-olds that they might have been born in the wrong body, socially transition them behind their parents’ backs, and steer them toward experimental hormonal interventions.
Public polling suggests that NYSED’s policies on gender are massively unpopular. About 70 percent of registered voters oppose teaching students in elementary school about sexual orientation and gender identity, and 75 percent say that schools should be required to get parental consent before facilitating a gender transition.
But when it comes to public education, the will of parents matters far less than the whim of activist-captured bureaucrats. These widely unpopular “best practices” have been sent out to schools as a “legal update”—and school district administrators and principals will not unreasonably assume that the recommendations are required for legal compliance.”

In an apparent effort to distinguish himself from better-performing candidates in the Republican field, Christie — presently ranked seventh on average with less than two points to his name in the polls — has come out in support of child gender transition surgeries.
The Republican presidential candidate told CNN’s Jake Tapper during his Sunday appearance on “State of the Nation” that he doesn’t think “the government should ever be stepping into the place of the parents in helping to move their children through a process where those children are confused or concerned about their gender.”
Tapper prompted the response in part by referencing Christie’s past support for the transgender agenda.
Rebuffing the warnings of groups like the NJ Family Policy Council, Christie ratified Democrat legislation (S-3067/A-465) in 2017, barring public school districts from requiring transvestic students to use bathrooms or locker rooms corresponding with their biological sex.
As the result of this law, schools in the state are required to allow students to dress in accordance with their “gender identity,” keep parents in the dark about a student’s “transgender or transition status,” and allow students to participate in gym sports with members of the opposite sex.”

On March 5th, in a riot that went terribly wrong, 5 colonists were shot by British troops who were protecting another British soldier who was being pelted with rocks and other assorted junk by a crowd. One of the soldiers was struck by a thrown bat and fell. His musket discharged and what occurred next is known to us now as the Boston Massacre. No order to fire had ever been given.
John Adams was the only lawyer willing to take the case on behalf of the soldiers who were being tried for murder. He did so because he believed that everybody was entitled to representation and that just as nobody was above the law, nobody was below it either.
Eight soldiers, one officer, and four civilians were arrested and charged with murder. Six of the soldiers were acquitted; the other two were convicted of manslaughter and given reduced sentences.
How times have changed. In today’s United States, a lawyer can become a celebrity for representing O.J. Simpson, but if you represent a former President of the United States be prepared to be attacked by your fellow lawyers and be driven out of the profession.

It has also represented several presidential campaigns, including those of John Kerry, Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton. Basically, Perkins Coie IS the legal arm of the Democrat Party. This basically implies that for all intents and purposes, so is the 65 Project.

In reality, the problem resulted from an intimidation campaign by a radical pressure group called the 65 Project, whose explicit mission is to ruin any lawyer willing to represent Trump.

So The 65 Project immediately went after me, and contrived a charge based on a case in which I was a constitutional consultant, but designed to send a message to potential Trump lawyers: if you defend Trump or anyone associated with him, we will target you and find something to charge you with. The lawyers to whom I spoke are fully aware of this threat — and they are taking it seriously.”
