Happy Saturday, Wanderers. In Atlanta today, from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m., thrre witll be Juneteenth celebrations with a parade, music, and many black vendors set up to display and sell. This is a welcome break from all the focus of Pride. I pray it will be a safe and fun day for all as it should be.
I saw the photo today and my first thought was the song “Old Man River”. I never heard the song, so I looked it up. I never knew it was so depressing! Perhaps I should look for the movie to see how it ends.
Jo, I am sceptical that deer live under there, not being den animals. But you might want to keep out skunks, raccoons, bears, and mountain lions. All of them seem to appreciate under the porch/deck areas. Chicken wire should do it but won’t keep out snakes, weasels, mice.
And Porcupines….they like to nest under porches….some friends of ours had a fawn under their porch and mama would come and lay outside of the porch. I suppose she felt under the porch was a safe place for her babe. My friend put some sort of barricade under her porch for the fear of ticks and such….
It’s bright and pretty hot out, but, even so, I decided I best mow since next week is suppose to be stormy. I am half done and now must wait until the rest of the yard is under shade. I worked up a good sweat!
A really large box truck came barreling down the street and a lady runner, thankfully, got off the main part of the strert and stood for a bit beside my neighbor’s car, parked to the side, to allow time for the truck to leave our neighborhood. If I’d not been mowing I would have tried to get the tag in a photo to report it. So dangerous! Too many bullies on the roads!
Kim, I love that blue color you shared. Would love to see the house.
We had a wonderful day listening and jamming to music and visiting with old acquaintances. The campground that is usually used is under construction being totally renovated for sites with electricity at each. There was plenty of space in an area across the road, but it had no trees, thus not much shade. The group has decided to be brave and play a half hour set today in the log cabin where that is done. The musicians that play here are all awesome, but the crowd is very accepting of anyone who plays.
One of the young men playing yesterday (who is an awesome fiddle/mandolin player) was one that my husband backed up with guitar, when he played fiddle, in a local contest several years. My how those years have flown! It is wonderful to see so many who have grown into wonderful musicians. The man the weekend was started for is now 94 and still playing music.
Our SIL from TN came to our house, getting here just before we got home. He slept for a few hours and then returned to Minneapolis to fly to his work in Alaska. We never actually saw him. That was the strangest visit. He came to visit his father, briefly, who had surgery and take care of some business on some property they have here. We will see his wife, our daughter next week when she visits. Sometimes it is difficult to coordinate visits together!
We have had visits like that. Various children using us as a stopping point. Once daughter and son in law (the ones divorcing) arrived around midnight, slept a few hours, and were gone by four. We never saw or heard them. They had their three children with them.
I attended our monthly HOA board meeting. The President of our HOA continues to not be forthcoming with truth. I will continue to attend and ask the questions that need to be answered. At least the homeowners in attendance know he is not being an honest person.
I then drove down to my favorite antique shoppe and purchased a small painting I saw the other day. I just couldn’t get it off my mind and it was still there so now it’s mine! Sheep…yep sheep
I was caught in a downpour on the way back home and got off the interstate to take side roads home. Have mercy people don’t know how to drive in the rain!
The sun is now out and I am seeing lots of blue skies! Thankful that we may have a reprieve for the next couple of days and we and dry out just a little bit before the next storm rolls through!
Sunshine here and our warmest day for two weeks.
Cleared out some piles and found a couple of treasures. One is a painting a friend gave me in PNG of part of my view there. I had admired it so much and she quietly wrapped it up for me. Now I need to have it framed.
I am trying to remember something. A year ago we had our end of the year teacher’s party for both schools senior high and primary. They honored those who were leaving. I have been using the mug they gave me, but there was another gift. I think that it was a painting, but I have no idea what happened to it or even what it looked like. I remember that I really liked it, but that is all.
Jo, could it have been something that each of the students you had taught had done together as a gift to you? Why do I seem to remember there was a joint project type gift?
I will get a photo of my sheep painting. I could send a photo of the bear that just visited us but by the time I grabbed my phone he had lumbered over to the neighbor’s property. All I got was a fuzzy shot of his behind!!! 🐻 😂

So today was the day that I gave the employees or paid staff my farewell gifts. I gave them each a gift and then pulled names out of a cup for other things that I had brought. Then they had a gift for me. It was a framed 8×10 of the picture with me. With a wood frame and glass. Looking at the weight, I am not sure what I will do.
?
I went to the Encore event tonight where we get to see the play and how they decorated for banquet. A friend had a laser printer that printed on wood or that burned the wood. He made me a small map of PNG with my name above. A special keepsake.
or?
Then after she left on of the preschool teachers had asked to speak to me. I actually taught her son for half the year. She spoke such words of love and appreciation for me, I was truly humbled. Then she gave me a bilum that she had made for me that is the flag of PNG. A gift of love and rememberance.
Thanks, NancyJill, it had not registered that this is Father’s Day. I think I will spend some time with my dad today. I already spent some time with my Father.
Happy Father’s Day! You guys know to whom that greeting is addressed.
There was little done for fathers at church, and I was trying to think of what an equivalent gift for dads might be to roses for Mother’s Day. I am not creative enough to think of anything except maybe a coupon to an ice cream parlor to enjoy a treat with the family.
A nice lady in my Sunday school class brought fresh veggies from their garden to share. Such a thoughtful gift to enjoy later!
Hey everyone, I’m fine. I just needed to step away and take a long break, work has been crazy with the ports and longshore contract talks (a tentative agreement was finally announced Wednesday night, after deadline of course, groan, but we hustled and managed to get something in within an hour).
There also has been some uncomfortable issues on the political thread with regard to the (polite, respectful) acceptance of posting “other” views, if they did not match the majority report here, which I know some were aware of.
But I’m fine, hope all is well with everyone here.
Alright. We will pretty much be “camping” at this house.
Mr P has been on a packing spree. Nothing is left on the walls. Boxes stacked and stuff everywhere. I am a nervous wreck. All the visual clutter jangles my nerves.
He wanted to pack my clothes a little while ago. I told him I wore everything in that closet (unlike some people I know).
Jin and I are taking a sunshine break as we have had bad weather

Good morning, all.
Janice, did you see husband this morning? He was in Atlanta. Who would have thought Atlanta was between Idaho and Chicago!

Morning! The morning started with sun shine but the clouds have rolled in bringing thunderstorms. A high of 55 for today….the furnace is on.
Such a great shot of turtle on the log! 🐢
Show Boat has some great songs and talented singers of them! I remember watching that movie years ago.

Mumsee, he was about fifteen minutes from Art’s office and maybe 30 minutes from our home. So close, yet no connection!

We continue with the nice weather. In the 80s. I think we have one day at 90, but that is all. And nothing too hot in the ten day forecast.
So… I should probably measure the opening under my deck. I am thinking that stapling some wire there would be the easiest.
But you have to admit, having deer under there is better than skunks.
