  1. Good morning, Wanderers!

You’re getting some wonderful photos, AJ! Are you taking lessons or learning ‘on the fly?’

I heard the neighbor pushing garbage cans to the street at 6:30. I remembered I had not done that, so I got up and took care of it before I forgot. It is being picked up as I write.

    Have a funtastic Monday!

  2. I’m not a seafood kind a gal and only order the run of the mill fish n chips at a restaurant. But when living in Myrtle Beach we went to Calabash for a seafood dinner with my in laws. Silly Ohio girl ordered fish with hush puppies thinking Arthur Treachers fish and chips! To my horror they bright to me a whole fish much like that one in the photo…with it’s eye looking right at me!!!! I am very careful when ordering fish now.. asking the waitress if it comes with or without an eyeball!!!!

  3. AJ, I sent you a picture but the email came back with this message:
The recipient’s mailbox “is full and can’t accept messages now. Please try resending your message later, or contact the recipient directly.”
Iy was the wanderongviews email address.

I cooked whole rainbow trout in the past and knew they were done when the eyes turned white and popped outward (not as in exploded). They were like the doneness timer when roasting a turkey. I got used to it, but at first it was alarming. Rainboe trout is drlicoous. That is what I order at Cracker Barrel but it is without the eyes😳😃

  4. My butcher’s children were very excited on butchering day because they got to eat the sheep eyes. I never fought them for those. Nor do I know how they taste and doubt I ever will.

  5. The joke about Finnish fish stew is that you get the eyes, too. I have never been fond of ‘fishy’ fish. My dad caught a lot of rainbows. They are beautiful when fresh from the water. That is definately a fish out of water, however, so it looks kind of sad.

We had a couple of pretty, yellow birds on our hummingbird feeder. They were not canaries and I haven’t looked up what they are yet. I think they may be thirsty. It is quite dry here again.

The good news is that we will have our new mattress delivered today. I pray it is comfortable. I don’t think it could be as bad as the old one had become, so there is that.

Jo, it is so difficult to be patient with people who don’t follow through. It seems to happen in spades these days. I read the devotional from Our Daily Bread on the seasons of life. I am in a season of life where my patience is sorely tried myself. It reveals more about me than I care to see. Hmm-maybe that is part of the reason? Isn’t is good to know it all has purpose?

  6. My office is currently 82F and temperatures are climbing. The humidity is over 60% so not something I’m very used to. But I love it and I have fans. And a pool to jump into when I get home. Sleeping is the hardest when it’s so hot and muggy.

We convinced Kootenay to get in the pool yesterday – he swam like a trooper. I think he enjoyed it – we’ll see when we ask him to get in again today.

  7. They didn’t look quite like orioles to me. The feeder is an oriole feeder, however, so they could have been able to drink from it. They didn’t stay for more that a minute. They are definitely not canaries, but thinner. Warblers seem fatter, too. Perhaps they were female orioles.

  8. Delivery of the mattress was to be between noon and two. Called the company at 3pm after hearing nothing. We were to be called a half hour before they showed up. After two calls and a wait, someone finally answered. She gave me a number for the delivery company. The tracking post just showed it was scheduled, but no time listed. Someone had called me to make the time arrangements.

Called the delivery company, but apparently the woman I talked to could not get in touch with the delivery truck. She gave me a number for them. Called them three times and here I sit at 7:30 pm with a stripped bed mattress and no news. Is it to much to ask these people to treat customers as they want to be treated?

  9. So sorry to hear that, Kathaleena. When we got a new mattress I had to let it air out for about a month before using. I hope you do not have that same situation with the new one. Once the plastic wrap came off, the fumes came out. I shut the door, and when I could, I opened the windows to the bedroom.
