I feel like these Congress clowns should need to at least pass a basic civil service test before being sworn in.

AOC previously questioned the need for a Supreme Court: “How much does the current structure benefit us? And I don’t think it does.” https://t.co/RWROszI2hU…
…This constitutional confusion seems to be on display this week after Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., declared that requiring the payment of debt is "the whole reason why the 14th Amendment exists." That ignores a few other items like Equal Protection clause.
I'm so conflicted because I've worked retail and would be so pissed if it were me at the register but Target pays like $15 or $16 an hour so they can suck it up.
Here’s the “true conservatives” endorsing the disaster that is Joe Biden yet again.
The grifters know the left pays their bills, not conservatives, so that’s who they cater too.

The debt ceiling has to be one of the silliest things that makes the US unique. They passed the budget, they spent the money and then they say hold it we won’t pay for now.
David Frum will do fine without Donald Trump. He was doing fine before Trump and will do fine after Trump. He’s a good writer even though I don’t like his opinions.
Acting like high school kids at Target doesn’t punish Target, it just punishes retail workers who are already overworded and underpaid. If people seriously think Target will extend hours to restock, they haven’t worked retail.
The Supreme Court lost its credibility for a number of reasons. The first and foremost is the political games played by the Republicans to deny Garland and put up Gorusch and Barrett. The court was always somewhat political but this took it over the top.
And then there is the on-going scandal that is Clarence Thomas and other justices not declaring conflicts of interest. There is no accountability for the court – they are supposed to police themselves but that’s obviously not happening.
And of course Kavaungh and Barrett did say Roe vs Wade was “settled” law under oath. And then promptly reversed themselves. A case can be made for perjury.
If the court wants credibility and respect, it needs to behave better.
David French makes the correct observation that right wing masculinity is reduced to trolling and hyperbole. No matter his other opinions, this one is correct. And of course, the right wing advocates of masculinity confirm his opinion by trolling.
Hawley’s electoral opponent probably says it best;
Oh, I thought for a minute the Mad Men guy who (fictionally) created the “I’ Like to Teach the World to Sing” CocaCola commercial was running for political office!
Politics are so strange anymore, one never knows!
And yeah, hyperbole and shock-trolling are the norm right now, which is just going to result in people getting burned out and ignoring it all.
Lol. French must be projecting. His own masculinity may be reduced to trolling and hyperbole, but real conservative-leaning, traditional men live in the real world where real masculinity is alive and well.
I stopped shopping at Target a couple of years ago when they said they were allowing men in the women’s restroom. It didn’t feel safe anymore. It is likely that many stores now have the same policy so I’m always more alert now. It’s a shame that something so fundamental has become controversial.
Defining masculinity is as difficult as defining femininity. However, we can note the toxicity in self expression has risen today and politeness seems to be out of style.
North American public washroom stalls are constructed wrong. The gap in the door, the divider missing the bottom foot, etc lacking privacy at the best of times. Should have a normal door and dividers from floor to ceiling. I was in a Swedish museum and went to use the washroom. There were no signs but a busload of Asian women were lined up for one facility so I went to the other but did a double take when I say a few Swedish women in there and no urinals, before I could back out they laughed and called me in. They were using the men’s room rather than wait in line. It didn’t really matter given the complete privacy of the stalls.
HRW, our company had a similar arrangement for a few weeks during construction. It wasn’t comfortable, but not unsafe because I know and trust my coworkers. Among strangers even that would be uncomfortable. Perhaps I’m spoiled just a tad.
I read once of a woman in India who said she wanted a divorce because her husband had promised to put a toilet inside the house if she would marry him. He didn’t. She was afraid of being raped when she went outside. We are a very fortunate and blessed people to have the problems we have.
Not quite what has been discussed but many, many years ago, before I quit working to be a stay-at-home mom, I started working for a company that was new to the area. The facility was still in the process of being finished.
The ladies room had a couple of toilets and sinks, but the partitions had not been installed yet. I always did my business as quickly as possible, nervous that someone might come in before I was finished. 🙂
I’ve avoided Target for several years, but mainly because I wind up spending too much money there. Never used their bathroom so I wouldn’t know about that, but I think some of this is dictated by local laws now.
Some of these things strike me as fads that will vanish due to common sense (once that someday takes over again — waiting … )
“In 2016, former CBS head honcho Les Moonves said Donald Trump’s presence in politics “may be bad for America, but it’s damn good for CBS.” Clearly Mooves was not the only network head to have made such an assessment. On Thursday, just on CNN and MSNBC, Trump was mentioned by name a whopping 399 times between 6:00 am and 4:00 p.m. ET.
Trump’s frontrunner status in the Republican primary has made him a hot topic of discussion whenever a new candidate enters the race, and Thursday was no exception. In the freshly announced candidacies of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Senator Tim Scott (R-SC), pundits on the liberal cable networks found two shiny new reasons to pontificate about all things Trump.
MRC analysts used a combination of live broadcasts and Snapstream transcripts to find every mention of the former President on CNN and MSNBC. In just 10 hours, Trump’s name was invoked 399 times across both networks. MSNBC just barely edged out its competitor with 208 mentions (52%), while CNN was responsible for the remaining 191 mentions (48%).
Both networks had a few outliers in their weekday lineups. On MSNBC, Morning Joe boasted an impressive 86 Trumps. However, averaged across the show’s four-hour runtime, that only came out to about 21 Trumps per hour. The network’s real heavy lifter was the 2 p.m. hour of Chris Jansing Reports, which managed a respectable 33 Trumps despite also carrying live coverage of a press conference by President Biden”
