It’s Wednesday, so don’t forget Ajissun and the folks in The Gambia.
Anyone else?
Psalm 83
A song. A psalm of Asaph.
1 O God, do not remain silent;
do not turn a deaf ear,
do not stand aloof, O God.
2 See how your enemies growl,
how your foes rear their heads.
3 With cunning they conspire against your people;
they plot against those you cherish.
4 “Come,” they say, “let us destroy them as a nation,
so that Israel’s name is remembered no more.”
5 With one mind they plot together;
they form an alliance against you—
6 the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites,
of Moab and the Hagrites,
7 Byblos, Ammon and Amalek,
Philistia, with the people of Tyre.
8 Even Assyria has joined them
to reinforce Lot’s descendants.
9 Do to them as you did to Midian,
as you did to Sisera and Jabin at the river Kishon,
10 who perished at Endor
and became like dung on the ground.
11 Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb,
all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,
12 who said, “Let us take possession
of the pasturelands of God.”
13 Make them like tumbleweed, my God,
like chaff before the wind.
14 As fire consumes the forest
or a flame sets the mountains ablaze,
15 so pursue them with your tempest
and terrify them with your storm.
16 Cover their faces with shame, Lord,
so that they will seek your name.
17 May they ever be ashamed and dismayed;
may they perish in disgrace.
18 Let them know that you, whose name is the Lord—
that you alone are the Most High over all the earth.
I would appreciate prayers as I head into Day 2 of a headache. Yesterday I canceled all my piano lessons and laid down for a nap at 1:30pm. Slept until 6:00pm. Felt a little better and got a few things done, then went back to bed at 9:30 and slept until 7:00 this morning. Headache is still lingering, and nausea is starting up again. Feeling worn out and hoping it will go away soon. Thanks for prayers.
Continuing in prayer for Debra and company and other recent requests.

Continued prayer for my neighbor Shirley who continues to recover from a stroke that hit her last month; she’s still in rehab, problems persist with her right arm and hand and when she walks her one knee buckles (her knees were bad before this) so they’re trying to strengthen the muscles around the knee. Her husband had hoped she’d be home by Monday of this week but it remains up in the air when she will get released.
I just spoke with her, but she said talking is difficult (though she sounded fine, but a couple words I didn’t quite understand) — so it was a fairly short (5 min) conversation, but good to hear her voice. I told her I missed her.

Six, is this a migraine?

DJ, I think it was a migraine, as it was accompanied by nausea, which I don’t normally get with garden-variety headaches. On the other hand, I usually can’t sleep very well when I have a migraine, but I obviously slept a lot yesterday and last night — 14 hours of sleep in a 17.5-hour period between 1:30pm and 7:00am — so maybe it wasn’t a migraine. Whatever it was, it knocked me out for a while!
Thank you all for your prayers. The nausea today was short-lived, and the headache was pretty well over by noon. Other than some strange balance problems this afternoon — I once veered sideways and almost ran into a table while walking — and some residual tiredness (maybe from sleeping too much yesterday?), I feel pretty good.
My appetite returned today, too, and I had a double cheeseburger with lettuce, tomatoes, and pickle for lunch, so that hit the spot. 🙂
Praying for Shirley, DJ.
