Prayer Requests 7-8-20

It’s Wednesday, so don’t forget Ajissun and the folks in The Gambia.

Anyone else?

Psalm 132

A song of ascents.

Lord, remember David
    and all his self-denial.

He swore an oath to the Lord,
he made a vow to the Mighty One of Jacob:
“I will not enter my house
    or go to my bed,
I will allow no sleep to my eyes
    or slumber to my eyelids,
till I find a place for the Lord,
a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.”

We heard it in Ephrathah,
we came upon it in the fields of Jaar:
“Let us go to his dwelling place,
let us worship at his footstool, saying,
‘Arise, Lord, and come to your resting place,
you and the ark of your might.
May your priests be clothed with your righteousness;
may your faithful people sing for joy.’”

10 For the sake of your servant David,
do not reject your anointed one.

11 The Lord swore an oath to David,
a sure oath he will not revoke:
   “One of your own descendants
I will place on your throne.
12 If your sons keep my covenant
and the statutes I teach them,
   then their sons will sit
on your throne for ever and ever.”

13 For the Lord has chosen Zion,
he has desired it for his dwelling, saying,
14 “This is my resting place for ever and ever;
here I will sit enthroned, for I have desired it.
15 I will bless her with abundant provisions;
her poor I will satisfy with food.
16 I will clothe her priests with salvation,
and her faithful people will ever sing for joy.

17 “Here I will make a horn grow for David
and set up a lamp for my anointed one.
18 I will clothe his enemies with shame,
but his head will be adorned with a radiant crown.”

  1. Thanking the Lord for the rain we are getting. Praying for no flooding. We are down around 7 inches for the year and are supposed to get around 3 inches today. That is more than we prefer at a time, but sure don’t want the dry we have had.

  2. Please pray for my Office Mate today at 1pm Central (in about an hour) he is going to have a delicate conversation with the Man that we both answer to. There is another problem in the office and he and I spent over an hour with two of the agents yesterday and my OM was the one we all decided that he was the best person to have this conversation. If the issue isn’t addressed and handled we could have some agents walk out.

  3. Pray that my knee swelling will go down and I’ll have another shot at attacking this with physical therapy. I go back at 5 p.m. Thursday. I’ve been reading some info on the surgery option and it is definitely not encouraging in terms of the outcomes there.

  4. Prayers for that soon to happen meeting, Kim. Peaceful and just resolution.

Prayers for your knee, DJ. May God continue to strengthen the muscles that hold things in place. Also if any food is aggravating symptoms that you could have that revealed and eliminated from your diet (like the nightshades, tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, and eggplants). Please Lord, reveal anything helpful to DJ to make surgery unnecessary.

Thank You, Lord for babies and Your provision for them in Mumsee’s family. And thank You that Chas and Elvira have a new Great Grand!

Thanking You, God, again for Christian friends to walk through difficult times with. Without You and Your helps and guidance we would be in despair. In Jesus’ name, Amen

  5. I am planning to leave in an hour to head for Seattle to return the van. Please pray for energy as I am very tired. But I got the older boy to piano lessons and got the van washed and vacuumed. Now just the drive to meet up in the cell phone lot at Sea Tac.

  6. Praising and praying and amen to everything above.

DJ, with my neck the way it is, it looks like PT is in the near future for me. We can swap therapy stories and commiserate with one another. 😉

New student #1 started Monday (self-taught pianist before this). First lesson went well. Thanks for praying when I requested prayer about that.

New student #2 starts tomorrow. This is at the studio where I work. The mom’s communications with one of the business owners, which said co-owner has been forwarding to me, show all the signs of a high-maintenance parent. Prayers that that situation will go OK.

    Thanks.

  7. I’m trying to improve my attitude toward the exercises, have gotten through maybe half of them so far today on work breaks. But they now have me doing to many — 10 maybe? with several sets of each (with 15 to 30 repeats) — that it’s actually become a bit time consuming.

My vet suggested some homeopathic ingredients to help with the swelling, which is the immediate problem of concern to my PT. I ordered a topical cream that has one of those in it and was recommended on a meniscus recovery website.

But sounds like if the swelling isn’t down tomorrow when I see him, he’ll formally suggest I seek help from an orthopedic specialist, so that could set me on a whole new course. Both my vet & editor (who used to play baseball and knows knee injuries) said meniscus problems can be very unpredictable in their recoveries.

  8. Dj my neighbor/friend with whom I walk had her meniscus surgery in January. She no longer has the swelling and sharp pains but she does have some throbbing from time to time. But, she refused PT…she said she does the exercises on her own. We are not back up to our 3-4 mile daily walks but she is hanging in there at 1-2 miles and glad she had the surgery.
My old coworker had the same surgery 2 years ago and she is taking long hikes with her husband with no pain.

  9. What I have read on sites where people discuss their surgeries is that the benefits are pretty short-lived. And the danger is that it could pave the way for a knee replacement in fairly short order.

  10. Also saw a Harvard study (and others saying the same) that found the surgery is less effective for older patients — and, same as what my PT told me early on, that it can lead to an acceleration of osteoarthritis in the joint and the need for a full knee replacement within just a couple years.

I may be forced to go that route, I can’t live like this; but if I can avoid it and get a workable knee back, I’d like to keep giving that a shot.

But I sure miss dog walks and so many other activities. 😦 It really stinks.

  11. DJ, Mike had his meniscus surgery (arthroscopic) over twenty years ago. They said he had nothing left in there but mashed potatoes. He did very well for quite some time. Knee replacements five years ago. He now walks miles, bikes, and chops wood and all sorts of other things that require good working knees.
