Prayer Requests 4-2-20

It’s Thursday, so don’t forget to pray for Jo, her students, and the people of PNG.

Anyone else?

Psalm 59

Deliver me from my enemies, O God;
    be my fortress against those who are attacking me.
Deliver me from evildoers
    and save me from those who are after my blood.

See how they lie in wait for me!
    Fierce men conspire against me
    for no offense or sin of mine, Lord.
I have done no wrong, yet they are ready to attack me.
    Arise to help me; look on my plight!
You, Lord God Almighty,
    you who are the God of Israel,
   rouse yourself to punish all the nations;
    show no mercy to wicked traitors.

They return at evening,
    snarling like dogs,
    and prowl about the city.
See what they spew from their mouths—
    the words from their lips are sharp as swords,
    and they think, “Who can hear us?”
But you laugh at them, Lord;
    you scoff at all those nations.

You are my strength, I watch for you;
    you, God, are my fortress,
10  my God on whom I can rely.

   God will go before me
    and will let me gloat over those who slander me.
11 But do not kill them, Lord our shield,
    or my people will forget.
   In your might uproot them
    and bring them down.
12 For the sins of their mouths,
    for the words of their lips,
    let them be caught in their pride.
   For the curses and lies they utter,
13  consume them in your wrath,
    consume them till they are no more.
   Then it will be known to the ends of the earth
    that God rules over Jacob.

14 They return at evening,
    snarling like dogs,
    and prowl about the city.
15 They wander about for food
    and howl if not satisfied.
16 But I will sing of your strength,
    in the morning I will sing of your love;
    for you are my fortress,
    my refuge in times of trouble.

17 You are my strength, I sing praise to you;
    you, God, are my fortress,
    my God on whom I can rely.

  1. Prayer for the hospital personnel and the EMTs and police etc who are trying to help the sufferers of the virus around the world. May they see God and put their trust in Him as they serve their fellow man, turning that service to Him.

  2. As I posted on the Daily Thread, I have some properties under contract. I hate to tempt the fates ad Real Estate JuJu and all of that. I am a firm believer that ‘it ain’t a done deal until you walk away from the closing table”, I know it’s trivial but will you please pray that leave 3 under contract close. Thank you

  3. I woke from a nightmare, heart hammering (which is what brings on vertigo, I’m concluding). In my dream, my husband told me to buy tickets to take a Disney cruise . . .

    When I woke, I started thinking about the people on that cruise ship off the coast of Florida, a ship that is not being allowed to dock because of the sick people on board.

    The prayer I posted on the Daily Thread reminds us to pray for those who are in terror and whose lives feel threatened–whether legitimately or not. We have the words of eternal life and we worship the God who reigns.

    So many in my acquaintance and greater family dismiss the idea of peace with God. They want peace, but not God. Many are terrified.

    Lord, give us eyes to see and ears to hear the needs of those who don’t know you. Fill us with your peace and your presence that we may be the hands and feet to a world that is lost.

    Give us your words and confidence and help us be signposts toward the one who was from the beginning and the end and will be with us, always.

    Bring revival on our planet and help us, lead us, point us, give us the words to be part of that revival. Amen.

  4. Prayers for wisdom for second son. Their mare had a foal the other day and then the mare died a few days later. They have another mare who has adopted the baby but has not milk, though the vet is trying to get her lactating. The baby is thirteen days old now and won’t take a bottle. It is beginning to weaken, though it continues to try to get milk which should stimulate production. Anyway, wisdom on how to keep baby healthy until the milk comes in.
