Prayer Requests 3-10-20

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 36

Of David, the servant of the Lord.

I have a message from God in my heart
    concerning the sinfulness of the wicked:
   There is no fear of God
    before their eyes.

In their own eyes they flatter themselves
    too much to detect or hate their sin.
The words of their mouths are wicked and deceitful;
    they fail to act wisely or do good.
Even on their beds they plot evil;
    they commit themselves to a sinful course
    and do not reject what is wrong.

Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens,
    your faithfulness to the skies.
Your righteousness is like the highest mountains,
    your justice like the great deep.
    You, Lord, preserve both people and animals.
How priceless is your unfailing love, O God!
    People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
They feast on the abundance of your house;
    you give them drink from your river of delights.
For with you is the fountain of life;
    in your light we see light.

10 Continue your love to those who know you,
    your righteousness to the upright in heart.
11 May the foot of the proud not come against me,
    nor the hand of the wicked drive me away.
12 See how the evildoers lie fallen—
    thrown down, not able to rise!

  1. Prayer for husband and daughter in their travels.
    Prayer for daughter and her husband in the challenges of self quarantine. I do not know how important that is but it is the military and the little ones are fragile.

  2. Daughter is having a temper tantrum. He may drop her off here. Easier for me to handle it with just baby and thirteen year old than him while dealing with the three babies. In the past, she has been content to watch cartoons and color and eat.

  3. If you think about my county . . . compassion fatigue and I’d say crisis fatigue are overwhelming. Do you know how when a cup is filled to the brim it only takes a jostle–even a small one–to cause it to overflow?

    I spent some time yesterday trying to reassure a dear friend who has simply had enough. A child in her three-year-old son’s preschool class possibly being exposed to pinworms has pushed her over.

    In addition to all our issues, she’s married to a firefighter and she just suffered a bad miscarriage. Everything feels like too much, hence the potential, but unlikely, exposure of her toddler to pinworms has undermined it all.

    She’s not the only one.

    I’m leading Bible study today and will be discussing disbanding for a month, at least. The majority of women in my study are 70-90 years-old. The one closest to my age has pulmonary issues.

    We’re finishing up Proverbs next week anyway, and I think I’m going to ask for a discussion, we’ll examine fear and then pray. I don’t want to be a fear-monger, but these women are elderly, some looking particularly fragile right now and discretion seems wise.

    So, my prayer request is for the above dear people but also for me–as I lead the discussion and grapple with the implications of others’ infectious fear.

  4. Michelle, in church Sunday the pastor said that if we need to that we will meet on Facebook Live. He was addressing the older congregation. He said any not on Facebook will have help in getting set up. That could work for your group I think so people don’t feel so isolated?

  5. That’s a great idea for some, Janice, but few of my ladies are on FB. At the moment, they’ve decided to continue meeting unless something drastic happens. The weather is beautiful here in California, already close to 65, and that makes us hopeful.

  6. Prayer for sick baby to recover quickly and one year old cousin from whom she most likely caught it. And for his twin siblings, one of whom is now exposed.

  7. Our church’s sermon has been on Facebook live for a few months, which I’ve appreciated when I’ve been home for whatever reason. It’s only the sermon and the scripture reading immediately before the sermon though.

    This past week they decided not to have communion as scheduled, and to cancel the potluck lunch that was going to follow the service. I hope things get back to normal soon.

  8. My manager said there’s another avenue being pursued that might let us stay in our current jobs without having to move to NY NY. There have already been several such avenues pursued that turned into dead ends, so I’m not holding out much hope.

    In other developments, I had a good talk with a director in another area of the company who would like me in her group. She may have an opening. Stay tuned (and prayerful, please).
