Prayer Requests 10-11-19

It’s Friday, so please remember to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the Nestlings.

Anyone else?

Psalm  62

Truly my soul finds rest in God;
    my salvation comes from him.
Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
    he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.

How long will you assault me?
    Would all of you throw me down—
    this leaning wall, this tottering fence?
Surely they intend to topple me
    from my lofty place;
    they take delight in lies.
   With their mouths they bless,
    but in their hearts they curse.

Yes, my soul, find rest in God;
    my hope comes from him.
Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
    he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
My salvation and my honor depend on God;
    he is my mighty rock, my refuge.
Trust in him at all times, you people;
    pour out your hearts to him,
    for God is our refuge.

Surely the lowborn are but a breath,
    the highborn are but a lie.
   If weighed on a balance, they are nothing;
    together they are only a breath.
10 Do not trust in extortion
    or put vain hope in stolen goods;
   though your riches increase,
    do not set your heart on them.

11 One thing God has spoken,
    two things I have heard:
   “Power belongs to you, God,
12  and with you, Lord, is unfailing love”;
   and, “You reward everyone
    according to what they have done.”

  1. All I can think is that you guys really must have been praying for me. I have two listings under contract. One active, and three more on the way.
    I have two closings this month and two pre-approved buyers I am showing property to. I just got a call from an agent in Texas who wants me to work with his daughter. His referral fee to go to their closing costs.
    I haven’t really done anything special to generate this business so I do know where it is coming from, there is an other explanation.

  2. Pray for Carol, she hasn’t sounded good to me this week, she’s having more physical aches and pains and her mood seems down, which is unlike her. She wants me to come visit Saturday and while I really have so many things I’d like to do here, I feel like I need to check in personally with her. I think being stuck inside now has taken a toll and the ramps in and out of the facility make it hard for her just to go outside to sit for a while — I’ve told her if she could manage some outdoor time for some fresh air every day it would be very good, but that doesn’t seem to be working out.

    Pray also that the pastor of the nearby MSL church would connect with her again. He came to see her maybe 6-8 weeks ago and administered communion but he hasn’t contacted her since (other than to initially email her an MP3 of a sermon of his that she wasn’t able to open on her phone, which is her only device). Carol even transferred her membership there in the hopes that it would pave the way for some regular connections as her former church is now many miles away from where she stays now and no one can very easily visit her; they also have a new pastor who has never met her — this is a tiny church (only a handful of members, most elderly and some disabled) that’s geographically very close, but the pastor may have/probably has a second job. He and his wife have 5 children to support. But I thought he’d be semi-regular in reaching out to her as she’s so isolated from church right now and she’s been a lifelong member of the denomination. I’d love for him to visit her once a month for communion, prayer and a check-in talk, at least.

    Also: The troubled adult son next door appeared to be taken to the hospital (or maybe just treated in place) by paramedics at around 3 a.m. this morning during one of the times I was up to let Cowboy out. He was in jail earlier this week (police were here last Friday and arrested him for threats he was making to his mom, I believe); now I think he is staying in the garage. I’m afraid something awful may happen with him in time, he’s been in and out of rehab ever since they’ve lived here (8-10 years?) with a few jail stints thrown in, has been tossed out of the home and then taken back in numerous times, but he doesn’t seem to be getting free of those demons.

    Pray for salvation for the entire family and for safety, of course, I think the son has become physical at times in his abuse. The mom is originally from Mexico and is Roman Catholic, she attends one of the parishes where she’s taught catechism classes, but I have no clear idea that she’s a believer; I believe she’s probably 50 something, but looks younger?, slim and very attractive, a widow, a hair stylist (she reminds me of the ‘mom’ on This is Us). She has spoken to me a few times about how worried and stressed she is over the situation, she’s at a loss for what to do to help him. She’s always apologizing for the periodic upheavals. 😦

  3. Prayers, Michelle.

    Our editors are seeking reporters willing to volunteer to work the weekend for fire coverage (our sister paper, the daily news, is in the Valley).

  4. Michelle, that’s such a familiar area to me, though Reseda where I grew up is away from the hills so brush fires weren’t such an imminent threat. Whereabouts does your daughter live and work?
