“McCarthy calls on Pelosi to suspend Trump impeachment inquiry, accuses her of ‘recklessness'”

“House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., sent a letter on Thursday to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., calling on her to suspend the impeachment inquiry into President Trump until “equitable rules and procedures” are set up.

Coming amid concerns by GOP lawmakers that they will be sidelined or shut out of the impeachment inquiry into Trump, McCarthy criticized Pelosi for the “swiftness and recklessness” which House committee chairs have proceeded with the impeachment inquiry and pleaded with the House speaker to ensure Republican participation in the proceedings.

“Unfortunately, you have given no clear indication as to how your impeachment inquiry will proceed – including whether key historical precedents or basic standards of due process will be observed,” McCarthy said in his letter. “In addition, the swiftness and recklessness with which you have proceeded has already resulted in committee chairs attempting to limit minority participation in scheduled interviews, calling into question the integrity of such an inquiry.”

“Hours after McCarthy’s letter was posted, Pelosi responded with her own note suggesting Democrats would not be hitting pause anytime soon. She wrote that “existing rules of the House provide House Committees with full authority to conduct investigations for all matters under their jurisdiction.”

Pelosi added: “We hope you and other Republicans share our commitment to following the facts, upholding the Constitution, protecting our national security, and defending the integrity of our elections at such a serious moment in our nation’s history.”

On Thursday night, McCarthy fired back. “Your proclamations of fairness fall flat when you deny a process that provides it. Simply put, you are failing to meet the basic standards of due process observed by past speakers of the House,” he wrote in a letter. “Without transparent and equitable rules and procedures, the American people will forever understand this sham process for what it is—the fulfillment of a partisan goal to reverse the 2016 election.”

McCarthy’s complaint about limiting Republican participation is a reference to reports that House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., was limiting Republicans’ ability to ask questions during Thursday’s testimony by former U.S. envoy for Ukraine Kurt Volker.”

  5. And until she does, it’s just a show trial, not an actual impeachment trial.

    https://www.foxnews.com/media/andy-mccarthy-trump-impeachment-adam-schiff

“Andy McCarthy: This is not an impeachment inquiry, it’s a ‘show for TV'”

“As President Trump’s impeachment fight with House Democrats continues to escalate, former federal prosecutor Andy McCarthy said on Thursday that the proceedings will turn into a TV sideshow geared towards ratings.

“It’s not an actual complaint,” he said during an interview with “Fox & Friends.” “And this goes to my point, which is that this is not an impeachment inquiry. It’s an impeachment show for television.”

McCarthy claimed the fight has nothing to do with the rule of law and is actually a political dispute. He also said the whistleblower complaint looks to have been written by legal minds and might have been shaped by others before it was officially released.

“I don’t think this is actually about law-breaking. I think this is a political dispute,” he said. “And if it’s a political dispute — that is if it’s just about abuse of power and it’s not about a violation of the federal penal code — then the politics are what matters.”

“Right now … the more you see that [Adam] Schiff is insinuated in it, the more that you see that this complaint could not have been written by the whistleblower, it’s very lawyered-up as a document.”

“Former NSC Chief Of Staff: Schiff ‘Broke’ Rules, ‘Should Recuse Himself From This Impeachment Inquiry’”

“Former CIA officer and National Security Council Chief of Staff Fred Fleitz tweeted Tuesday that House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff “broke committee rules” and “should recuse himself” from any impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump.

“The NYT confirmed what I said last week: Schiff knew about the CIA whistleblower in advance … At a minimum, Schiff should recuse himself from this impeachment inquiry,” Fleitz tweeted.”

  7. Yeah, because rich people can afford good lawyers. Plus, it’s a lot of work……

So they just need more money, of course…..

    https://www.propublica.org/article/irs-sorry-but-its-just-easier-and-cheaper-to-audit-the-poor

“IRS: Sorry, but It’s Just Easier and Cheaper to Audit the Poor

Congress asked the IRS to report on why it audits the poor more than the affluent. Its response is that it doesn’t have enough money and people to audit the wealthy properly. So it’s not going to.”

“The IRS audits the working poor at about the same rate as the wealthiest 1%. Now, in response to questions from a U.S. senator, the IRS has acknowledged that’s true but professes it can’t change anything unless it is given more money.

ProPublica reported the disproportionate audit focus on lower-income families in April. Lawmakers confronted IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig about the emphasis, citing our stories, and Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., asked Rettig for a plan to fix the imbalance. Rettig readily agreed.

Last month, Rettig replied with a report, but it said the IRS has no plan and won’t have one until Congress agrees to restore the funding it slashed from the agency over the past nine years — something lawmakers have shown little inclination to do.

On the one hand, the IRS said, auditing poor taxpayers is a lot easier: The agency uses relatively low-level employees to audit returns for low-income taxpayers who claim the earned income tax credit. The audits — of which there were about 380,000 last year, accounting for 39% of the total the IRS conducted — are done by mail and don’t take too much staff time, either. They are “the most efficient use of available IRS examination resources,” Rettig’s report says.

On the other hand, auditing the rich is hard. It takes senior auditors hours upon hours to complete an exam. What’s more, the letter says, “the rate of attrition is significantly higher among these more experienced examiners.” As a result, the budget cuts have hit this part of the IRS particularly hard.

For now, the IRS says, while it agrees auditing more wealthy taxpayers would be a good idea, without adequate funding there’s nothing it can do. “Congress must fund and the IRS must hire and train appropriate numbers of [auditors] to have appropriately balanced coverage across all income levels,” the report said.”

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7532027/Vaping-related-lung-injuries-likened-World-War-soldiers-breathing-mustard-gas.html

“Vaping-related lung injuries are likened to World War I soldiers breathing in MUSTARD GAS after Mayo Clinic blames toxic fumes for the pneumonia-like illness that has killed 17”

“Mayo Clinic researchers have found that the recent vaping-related illnesses were caused by inhaling toxic, chemical fumes

The injuries were likened to those of people who were exposed to toxic chemical spills and World War I soldiers who breathed in mustard gas
The injuries were not as originally believed to have been caused by oil or lipid contamination in the lungs

A first-ever examination of 17 biopsies from patients with vaping-related lung injuries found no accumulation of oil or lipids

The findings still do not rule out any oils, vitamin E or other substances that are used to thicken vaping juice”

    —-

“Mayo researchers in a report published Wednesday in the New England Journal of Medicine said a first-ever examination of 17 biopsies from patients afflicted with vaping-related lung injuries showed no evidence of oil or lipid contamination which had been the suspected culprit behind the outbreak.

The Mayo doctors, however, say they found the lung injuries consistent with ‘direct lung toxicity from an inhaled noxious agent or agents,’ similar to when someone is exposed to a toxic chemical spill, or when World War I soldiers breathed in deadly mustard gas, reports the Star Tribune.

Mustard gas can kill by blistering the lungs and throat if inhaled in large quantities.

‘While we can’t discount the potential role of lipids, we have not seen anything to suggest this is a problem caused by lipid accumulation in the lungs,’ says Brandon Larsen, a surgical pathologist at Mayo Clinic Arizona on the Mayo Clinic website.

‘Instead, it seems to be some kind of direct chemical injury, similar to what one might see with exposures to toxic chemical fumes, poisonous gases and toxic agents,’ Larsen, a lung pathology expert said.

The researchers are forwarding the pathological results of their study to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in the hopes it will update the outbreak’s diagnostic definition.

The injuries originally were believed to have been linked to oil or lipid contamination in the lungs. However, the Mayo researchers said they did not find any evidence to support the claim in the biopsies collected.”

“Michael Avenatti puts attorney fee lien on Stormy Daniels strip club arrest settlement

Avenatti claims Stormy owes him $2 million, even though his representation of her has been a disaster.”

    “Now for some comic relief.

Michael Avenatti, the once-upon-a-time highly-touted potential Democrat presidential candidate, former favorite anti-Trumper of cable loon TV, and defendant in multiple criminal prosecutions, claims his most infamous client Stormy Daniels (aka Stephanie Clifford) owes him $2 million in legal fees and costs.

For what? After all, Avenatti’s representation of Stormy against Donald Trump completely collapsed, with Stormy being ordered to pay Trump almost $300,000 in legal fees and costs. Avenatti was indicted for a separate representation of Stormy and alleged financial abuse of her.

Avenatti and Stormy had a messy break up, with Avenatti claiming I broke up with Stormy before she broke up with me!

This guy is an incredible piece of work, no offense intended to pieces of work.

Now Avenatti is now laying claim to a settlement Stormy got after an arrest at a strip club. From NBC News:

Attorney Michael Avenatti has filed court papers demanding the $450,000 settlement won by former client Stormy Daniels in her lawsuit against the Columbus, Ohio, police department.

Avenatti, who represented the adult film actress in legal action against Donald Trump, filed a lien claim in an Ohio federal court Wednesday that says Daniels owes him more than $2,000,000 for legal services, costs and expenses.

In September, Daniels settled her lawsuit over her arrest last year at a Columbus strip club. Police arrested Daniels on July 11, 2018, at the Sirens Gentlemen’s Club on misdemeanor charges of inappropriately touching customers. The charges were quickly dropped.”

“Planned Parenthood Built Secret Abortion ‘Mega-Facility’ in Illinois Using ‘Shell Company’

“Planned Parenthood has used a shell company to construct the facility, leaving no public trace that the former medical office would become one of the largest abortion clinics in the country.””

“Missouri has one clinic left that provides abortions, which has left the abortion fanatics up in arms.

No need to fear! Planned Parenthood is here! The infanticide giant announced the opening of a “mega-facility” just 13 miles away from Missouri’s last abortion clinic in St. Louis.

Nothing creepy about this story at all! You know, besides the murder of unborn human beings (emphasis mine):

Since August 2018, Planned Parenthood has used a shell company to construct the facility, leaving no public trace that the former medical office would become one of the largest abortion clinics in the country. CBS News first visited the site in August, while it was still being built.

Colleen McNicholas, the chief medical officer of Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri, said the facility was built in secret to avoid protestors and delays. Other Planned Parenthood projects had run into problems once the public realized the construction was for an abortion provider. In one instance, a communications company had refused to install telephone and data lines; in another, a cabinet maker never delivered an order, McNicholas said. In Birmingham, Alabama, protestors targeted Planned Parenthood’s suppliers, flooding their social media accounts with fake negative reviews.

The way McNichols, and the left overall, twists or removes words when talking about abortion disturbs me.

For instance, McNichols told CBS that Planned Parenthood was “really intentional and thoughtful about making sure that” they completed this project as fast as they could since they “saw the writing on the wall – patients need better access.”

Translation: We saw that Missouri is doing everything it can to preserve everyone’s right to life starting in the womb so we jumped in to prevent that right.”
