Prayer Requests 4-23-19

Janice is having eye surgery today, so please remember to pray for her.

Anyone else have something to share?

Psalm 81

Sing for joy to God our strength;
    shout aloud to the God of Jacob!
Begin the music, strike the timbrel,
    play the melodious harp and lyre.

Sound the ram’s horn at the New Moon,
    and when the moon is full, on the day of our festival;
this is a decree for Israel,
    an ordinance of the God of Jacob.
When God went out against Egypt,
    he established it as a statute for Joseph.

   I heard an unknown voice say:

“I removed the burden from their shoulders;
    their hands were set free from the basket.
In your distress you called and I rescued you,
    I answered you out of a thundercloud;
    I tested you at the waters of Meribah.
Hear me, my people, and I will warn you—
    if you would only listen to me, Israel!
You shall have no foreign god among you;
    you shall not worship any god other than me.
10 I am the Lord your God,
    who brought you up out of Egypt.
   Open wide your mouth and I will fill it.

11 “But my people would not listen to me;
    Israel would not submit to me.
12 So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts
    to follow their own devices.

13 “If my people would only listen to me,
    if Israel would only follow my ways,
14 how quickly I would subdue their enemies
    and turn my hand against their foes!
15 Those who hate the Lord would cringe before him,
    and their punishment would last forever.
16 But you would be fed with the finest of wheat;
    with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.”

  2. Most of Libya is desert. Ninety per cent of the people (Arabised Berbers) live in less than 10% of the area, primarily along the Mediterranean coast. The other ten per cent live in villages in the mountains and oases in the center and south of the country. The three largest cities are Tripoli, Benghazi and Misrata.

    Libya has been nearly untouched by Christian workers since the Islamic takeover in the mid-600s. Many Libyans assume that to be Libyan is to be Muslim. Despite the presence of churches built under Italian rule and the ancient Roman ruins of churches, pulpits, and baptismal fonts, most Libyans know little about Christianity and have never seen a Bible. The likelihood of a Libyan meeting a follower of Jesus is very limited.

    Today and this week pray ‘replacement statements’ over Libya
    Truth to replace lies.
    Faith to replace fear.
    Peace to replace fighting and chaos
    Life to replace death.
    Freedom to replace slavery, abuse, oppression.
    Purity to replace sexual depravity.

    Pray these statements over Libya:
    Lord, shake the villages, towns and cities of Libya.
    Awaken and raise to life the hearts and spirits of the people.
    Give them dreams and visions that would lead them to Jesus.
    Help them ‘find’ Christian TV programs, websites and Facebook pages.
    Open their hearts to be receptive to the gospel.
    Help Libyans find and meet believers in their country.
    May families begin to study the Word together and find Jesus.
    Help scattered Libyan believers to have fellowship.

    From a leader – answered prayer in Libya:
    “There are still so many things that we long for God to do in Libya, but we are sure He is working there in answer to our prayers. Since praying, there has been increased media outreach done by Libyan believers in many different forms. In one area, a new family is studying the Word together; the wife has already believed and the husband is open. In another area, there are several small Bible studies but not necessarily with families. There is also international pressure to deal with the immigrant crisis – and the abuse of immigrants – from sub-Saharan Africa. Many are being repatriated to their countries and centres where there has been abuse have been closed – this still needs prayer. There has also been a disarmament of militias and a unified army. The government has begun to combine militias in the capital to try and address security concerns – this, too, needs a lot more prayer.”
