  1. I might feel worse for him, if he actually had no comment. But you see, after finding no crimes, he took a dishonest and unethical approach, and added comments where they weren’t appropriate.

So, reap it, you earned it.

“Gowdy: Mueller’s cowardly report should have stayed private or he should have charged Trump. Anything else is a smear.”

    ———————–

“Gowdy wasn’t pleased by this pussyfooting.

“What I would say with respect to Mueller is if you have enough on obstruction, then charge him. And then let a jury of 12 decide whether or not your evidence carries the burden of persuasion. But what we have now is a hung jury,” he complained to host Neil Cavuto.

His argument essentially was that Mueller should have gone ahead and issued charges against Trump for obstruction of justice. Why? Because that would have at least allowed the president the opportunity to challenge the allegations against him in a court of law.

Instead, the special counsel left the issue hanging via a report loaded with “a bunch of insinuations and interpretations,” as one commentator put it, that are now being used by congressional Democrats and their media allies to smear the president as corrupt.

“This is unbecoming behavior for a prosecutor and an outrageous shifting of the burden of proof: The constitutional right of every American to force the government to prove a crime has been committed, rather than to have to prove his or her own innocence,” renowned former federal prosecutor Andrew C. McCarthy explained in an op-ed for the New York Post this week.

“If special counsel Mueller believed there was an obstruction offense, he should have had the courage of his convictions and recommended charging the president. Since he wasn’t convinced there was enough evidence to charge, he should have said he wasn’t recommending charges. Period. Anything else was — and is — a smear. Worse than that, it flouts the Constitution.”

“[T]here’s no resolution, half the country is going to think the President obstructed justice, the other half’s going to think he didn’t,” he continued.

“There’s no resolution. So why issue the report?” he added, returning to his original point. “You don’t do it in any other — the President is not above the law but he ain’t below the law either. Find me another American other than what Jim Comey did to Hillary Clinton that has had an oppo research paper investigated by the Department of Justice, no charges and then disseminated?””

  2. Another messy breakup is coming.

So who gets the family Bible?

    https://www.nbcnews.com/news/religion/united-methodists-edge-toward-breakup-over-lgbt-policies-n996741

“United Methodists edge toward breakup over LGBT policies

Under one scenario, many centrists and liberals would leave en masse to form a new denomination — a potentially complex endeavor.”

“There’s at least one area of agreement among conservative, centrist and liberal leaders in the United Methodist Church: America’s largest mainline Protestant denomination is on a path toward likely breakup over differences on same-sex marriage and ordination of LGBT pastors.

The differences have simmered for years, and came to a head in February at a conference in St. Louis where delegates voted 438-384 for a proposal called the Traditional Plan, which strengthens bans on LGBT-inclusive practices. A majority of U.S.-based delegates opposed that plan and favored LGBT-friendly options, but they were outvoted by U.S. conservatives teamed with most of the delegates from Methodist strongholds in Africa and the Philippines.

Many believe the vote will prompt an exodus from the church by liberal congregations that are already expressing their dissatisfaction over the move.

Some churches have raised rainbow flags in a show of LGBT solidarity. Some pastors have vowed to defy the strict rules and continue to allow gay weddings in Methodist churches. Churches are withholding dues payments to the main office in protest, and the UMC’s receipts were down 20 percent in March, according to financial reports posted online.

“It’s time for some kind of separation, some kind of amicable divorce,” said James Howell, pastor of Myers Park United Methodist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, who posted a video assailing the proposal for its “real meanness.”

The UMC’s nine-member Judicial Council convenes a four-day meeting in Evanston, Illinois, on Tuesday to consider legal challenges to the Traditional Plan. If the plan is upheld, it would take effect for U.S. churches on Jan. 1. If parts of it are struck down, that would likely trigger new debate at the UMC’s next general conference in May 2020.”

  3. Barry’s EPA was too busy with cow farts and rising oceans to worry about a little thing like poisoned water for the commoners. He had a planet to save, dang it! 🙄

    https://dailycaller.com/2019/04/20/flint-water-lead-poison/

“A federal judge ruled Thursday that Flint citizens can move forward with lawsuits targeting the Environmental Protection Agency’s handling of the Michigan city’s lead contamination problems.

The EPA under former President Barack Obama was too slow to intervene in the case, according to U.S. Judge Linda Parker, who ruled that the federal government was not immune from legal action in the case. More than a dozen lawsuits were filed against Michigan and city officials after researchers discovered in 2016 that Flint’s water contained elevated levels of lead in 2014 and 2015.

“The impact on the health of the nearly 100,000 residents of the City of Flint remains untold,” Parker wrote in her opinion. “It is anticipated, however, that the injury caused by the lead-contaminated public water supply system will affect the residents for years and likely generations to come.”

The EPA knew Flint officials “were not warning Flint’s residents that they were being supplied lead-laced water. Quite to the contrary, the EPA learned that State and local officials were misleading residents to believe that there was nothing wrong with the water supply,” the judge added.

Fifteen state and local officials have been criminally indicted in connection with what many in the media have dubbed a water crisis. Four of the officials were charged with involuntary manslaughter. Much of the controversy happened after Flint switched its water source to the Flint River in 2014 without adding anti-corrosive agents to the water. Lead levels in drinking water supplies increased shortly thereafter.”

  4. Victor Davis Hanson nails it again.

    https://legalinsurrection.com/2019/04/victor-davis-hanson-it-was-a-coup-attempt-to-destroy-the-presidency/

“Victor Davis Hanson: “It was a coup attempt to destroy the presidency…””

“Hanson suggests that when Trump won, actors in this conspiracy decided their only way out was to go deeper:

Then when Trump did the unthinkable, he won both in anger at that fact but also as a preemptive defense of their behavior. You see, because you’ve got to remember the dialectic would have been “President Clinton, look at all I did for you. I should be rewarded. I went beyond the call of duty.” And now the mentality went “My gosh, I’ve got legal exposure. So we’ve got to press further.”

So then it was a methodology of getting more FISA requests and disrupting the transition. And then finally the act that resulted in the Mueller commission, and then to dethrone. And then finally the larger context of this was when he was elected there was an effort to sue three states for the voting machines and nullify the election. There was a sustained effort to give the Steele dossier to the electors and to persuade the electors not to vote according to their constitutional mandates.

He eventually calls this what it was. An attempted coup:

This is in addition to the Stormy Daniels psychodrama, the Michael Cohen, the tax returns–so there’s been a sustained effort not to wait until 2020, but to remove the president of the United States under the idea that we are so moral and anointed unelected officials, we have a duty to somebody higher than the American people. And boil that down and it was a coup attempt to destroy the presidency before its tenure had expired.

And that’s just the first ten minutes.”

  6. France’s Catholic churches aren’t the only ones under attack.

    https://legalinsurrection.com/2019/04/catholic-churches-being-vandalized-across-the-usa/

“Catholic Churches being vandalized across the USA

From Massachusetts to California, Catholic Churches are reporting wrecked statues, graffiti, and defilement of sacred objects.”

“As Mary Chastain noted in her report covering the fire at Notre Dame Cathedral, Catholic Churches across France have been attacked over the past few months.

And while the cause of the fire at the famous cathedral appears to be related to an elevator’s faulty electrical system, other churches have been attacked and sacred sites desecrated. In February, 10 churches were hit.”

In early February, in the Church of Notre-Dame-des-Enfants in Nimes, near the Spanish border, intruders drew a cross on a wall with excrement then stuck consecrated hosts to it.

The tabernacle was broken and other consecrated hosts were destroyed, prompting Bishop Robert Wattebled of Nimes to issue a statement Feb. 8 to say that the desecration was so severe that the church building could not be used until penitential rites of purification had been carried out.

In the U.S., several Catholic churches across the nation have also reported acts of vandalism. Many of these incidents have occurred in late March of this year.

Boston-area police are investigating a series of attacks on church statues.

Police are investigating a string of vandalism attacks targeting Catholic churches following the latest incident Wednesday night at St. Gregory’s in Dorchester, where a Virgin Mary statue was reportedly tagged by a red substance.

The statue has reportedly been vandalized four times in the past month. Police say they’re “actively reviewing the facts and circumstances surrounding these incidents.”

The incident follows two similar incidents of vandalism March 11 and 13, when officers responded to calls at two churches in Hyde Park. On March 11, a statue at the Most Precious Blood Church at 25 Maple St. was also vandalized by a red substance, and two days later another red substance was observed on a statue at St. Anne’s Church on 90 West Milton St.

The string of church vandalisms also follows two other separate incidents in March, where law enforcement statues appeared to be targeted.

In early April a Connecticut church was hit.”

  13. Chas, Mike has been touching on that topic in some of his letters to the editor. A recent one, he simply said it was odd that we are sending people to the middle East to kill people who are fighting for the Quran and Sharia Law, and here we elect them to office and let them swear the oath on the same Quran. He is “Islamophobic, racist, hater, and nationalist” all in one. And that was a reply from the guy who sits next to him at the Veterans meetings. Cair lists him as Islamaphobic. People do not understand. It is not a race, it is a political system and the followers have goals which can be found in the Quran.
