Prayer Requests 3-27-19

It’s Wednesday, so don’t forget Ajissun and the folks in The Gambia.

Anyone else?

Psalm 52

Why do you boast of evil, you mighty hero?
    Why do you boast all day long,
    you who are a disgrace in the eyes of God?
You who practice deceit,
    your tongue plots destruction;
    it is like a sharpened razor.
You love evil rather than good,
    falsehood rather than speaking the truth.
You love every harmful word,
    you deceitful tongue!

Surely God will bring you down to everlasting ruin:
    He will snatch you up and pluck you from your tent;
    he will uproot you from the land of the living.
The righteous will see and fear;
    they will laugh at you, saying,
“Here now is the man
    who did not make God his stronghold
   but trusted in his great wealth
    and grew strong by destroying others!”

But I am like an olive tree
    flourishing in the house of God;
   I trust in God’s unfailing love
    for ever and ever.
For what you have done I will always praise you
    in the presence of your faithful people.
   And I will hope in your name,
    for your name is good.

  1. I don’t know how to express what my prayer request is. I don’t even know what to pray for. The person supervising me from the school phoned yesterday and asked to meet with me. When I met, she said that the nurse whom I have been working with phoned her and said that I was not showing any initiative or interest in my work. Now, I make mistakes, as any learner does, but I always learn from my mistakes; and sometimes I am tired or overwhelmed and miss things, but I am always interested. As I said to my school supervisor, I have a lot to work on and improve, but I am not guilty of what the nurse accused me of. Since the meeting with my supervisor, I have been recalling all the times I showed initiative, so that I cannot understand why the nurse would think that I lack initiative. I am bitterly tired, having done so many shifts and on the days when I am not in clinical, working on assignments. I have only a few days left and I have nothing more left to give. My supervisor, who is the one who decides if I pass or fail, has reassured me that I will pass, no matter what kind of assessment I get from the nurse, but I want the nurse to think I should pass. This nurse has been very challenging to work with, and so it is not entirely surprising that she would be so harsh in her criticism, but that she would be unjust in it is stunning and bewildering.

  2. So sorry to hear that, Roscuro. Just from what you tell us here on the blog, we can tell that you are indeed interested, and are a hard worker. May God vindicate you in her eyes.

  3. Oh Roscuro, I am sorry. I would wonder if the nurse always gives such assessments, but I know how hard it is to receive unjust criticism!

  4. phos. You don’t need to know.
    God knows better than you do.
    And “with growing’s that cannot be uttered” you can let Him deal with it.

  5. Now that the baby is born, another family issue has raised its head.

    One of our relatives has been in a pseudo-religious cult, the American Sikhs, for about 50 years. We are seriously concerned that she is either demon possessed, suffering from mental illness or both.

    The organization specifically divided her away from her family and she has been spiritually and mentally challenging on the few times I’ve met her over the years. She’s been living within the Sikh community in Espanola, NM, for about 15 years–since her split with the last (4th) husband. She believes, among other things, that she is married to one of the Gurus who died about 400 years ago.

    Some days she’s the Virgin Mary.

    One of her sisters (also an American Sikh, but a reasonable one with excellent family relationships) is on her way to check out the situation. We’re asking for prayer on what/how to help a woman who has burned every relationship she’s ever been in and may have finally tripped over into schizophrenia. The organization has tried to help her (afterall, her manifestations and “oneness” with the guru are part of their belief system), but they are burned out from her behavior and don’t know how to help her.

    Thanks.

  6. Well, Michelle, it is well known that there is a direct path from Northern NM to Tibet, so of course there is a connection. /sarcasm off/. If you only knew how many times I have heard the previous statement said to me in all seriousness. Praying that your family finds some way to reconcile and share the love of Christ.

  7. Roscuro, I’m with the others here agreeing in prayer and support.

    Michelle, that is a really serious situation. She sounds like she needs to be in a hospital for awhile to regain her senses if possible. Prayers for your family.
