  1. Just do it, like I said from the start. You can’t negotiate with terrorists, not even the Democrat kind.

“Trump’s only option: Declare a National Emergency, build the wall, and declare victory”

“Trump is widely portrayed as having suffered a devastating loss to Nancy Pelosi by agreeing to a continuing resolution without additional funding for a border wall in some form.

And certainly, Pelosi is crowing about her victory. She’s also emboldened, accusing Trump of being subjected to blackmail by Putin. (Exact quote: “What does Putin have on @realDonaldTrump, politically, personally or financially?”).

Trump’s strategic error was making a government shutdown, even if in reality it was more of a slowdown of a portion of government, the mechanism to extract concessions from Democrats. If that was his goal, and not just a long-term ploy, Trump was destined to lose.

Republicans cannot win government shutdown fights because no matter who caused it or who is unreasonable, the media blames Republicans. As satisfying and justified as a partial government shrinkage and slowdown may be, it’s a losing battle.

So a government shutdown never was going to get Trump a wall from Democrats, who are never going to give Trump ANY wall. Or fence. Or steel barrier. For at least two reasons.

First, a wall would work. That is a real problem for those who favor either completely open borders or the current status quo of mass illegal cross-border migration. A wall wouldn’t be a cure all, but the arguments against it are mostly strawmen. It wouldn’t stop 100% of those attempting to enter illegally through the Mexican border. Fine, but it would stop most, and would allow the border patrol to focus on fewer areas. It also would serve as a deterrent. Another argument is that a border wall also would not stop visa overstays. Duh. It’s a border wall meant to keep out people who don’t have even a visa from illegally crossing the border. Let’s beef up tracking people who overstay their visas AND build a wall.

Second, and most important politically for Democrats and Republican NeverTrumpers, they see the failure of Trump to build the wall as a way to break Trump politically. It was a core promise. I think most Trump supporters understand that he has been undercut on the issue not only by Democrats but also by Republicans, but that won’t prevent the failure from being used as a wedge issue.

So where are we heading? The lack of border wall funding will be a continuing oozing loss for Trump, unless he does something drastic. That drastic action would be a declaration of a National Emergency to build the wall. It may be that Trump has gone through the hopeless task of trying to convince Democrats and the futile slowing-down of government, to set the stage for drastic action.

There are currently 31 active National Emergencies, and 58 national emergencies have been declared since the National Emergencies Act of 1976 was signed into law by President Gerald Ford.

Most of the National Emergencies don’t sound like “national emergencies” in any real sense (see links above). They sound more like serious situations where the president uses the powers given him by statute and the Constitution to address national security problems.

Trump’s authority would come not only from the National Emergencies Act, but also his power to control who may enter the U.S. and to protect the nation, as spelled out in the Supreme Court’s decision in the travel order case:”

  2. Same blueprint they used in Europe.

“For decades, the Democratic Party has shown by both words and deeds that they despise the U.S. Constitution while they bend over backward to embrace Islamists, illegal aliens, and anyone who hates America. The left is interested only in power and nothing else – even if it means to sacrifice our national security and advocate open borders.

The liaison between American Muslims and the Democratic Party is frequently described as a marriage of convenience, where Muslims will ally with leftist politicians, who will gladly cede some of their power to this group of enforcers so conservative politicians and Christians who advocate self-defense and sane social policies are kept out of office.

While America is in hibernation, Muslim organizations with the help of Democrats have been busy, working “stealthily” to change America in what is called “soft jihad.” Soft jihad is practiced where Muslims are not strong enough to unsheathe the sword of jihad, where the true nature of Islam is exposed and when the public would likely stamp them out. A critical tool of soft jihad involves penetration of the American educational system, such as Da’wa, the religious duty of each Muslim to convert non-Muslims and strengthen the Islamic Ummah.

America is on a precarious path to lose its freedom and American values we have cherished for over 200 years. We must accept that the current Democratic Party is no longer the party of Kennedy. It has become the greatest threat to our national security and our survival as a nation.

Many Americans are confused as to why Democrats back Islamic ideology, honor their holidays and customs, and promote Islam as “the religion of peace,” knowing that Islam is not a religion of peace. In fact, it is an ideology of war. The answer is quite simple: the Democratic Party stands with anyone who dislikes America and the Republican Party. History has proven that once Muslims reach close to 10% in population, they institute sharia law and adopt their own legal system – a government within a government.”

  3. I have got to get me one of these snowflake triggering hats. 🙂

“This week there was a rare celestial convergence: A Super Moon, a Blood Wolf Moon, and a Lunar Eclipse. On earth there were also some noteworthy events: 1000 reporters lost their jobs, Mueller jumped the shark in arresting Roger Stone in the middle of the night, and the President moved on to another stage of the long Build the Wall battle.

    The Opinion Workers Union Hall

Riffing on the loss of jobs by 1000 reporters, most especially those who’d been tapping away at Huffington Post and Buzz Feed spewing hateful, ill-informed nonsense, Iowahawk, had fun in a three-part tweet:

I was havin’ beers with the fellas down at the Opinion Workers Union hall, and they’re all itchin’ for a strike. Let’s see how long these management @#$##@$ last when the hot take warehouse goes empty.

But Al the union steward said it was only “temporary” and that we shouldn’t rile up nothin’ less’n they start bussin’ in a bunch of damn Twitter scabs. Sometimes I think that sumbitch is in management’s pocket, and it’s time for a wildcat vote.

I spent the best 2 years of my life dragging randos and chasing hashtags, and what do I get? Carpal tunnel and goddamn pink slip. Brooklyn used to be filled with clickbait factories, now it’s just busted dreams, UHauls, and opioid addicts.

The news of the discharges came after days of coverage respecting the confrontation between a make-believe Vietnam veteran and some Catholic school boys who did not take the bait to respond to his aggressive moves and were nevertheless falsely accused of the left’s favorite sin — racism.

After a series of hoaxes in which white males were proven to have been unfairly accused of racism and sexism and such we were naturally skeptical. There was the Trayvon Martin (“white Hispanic”) nonsense, the Ferguson (“hands up, don’t shoot’) lies, the Duke Lacrosse Team hoax, the UVA fraternity debacle and the Judge Kavanaugh hokum, to name some of the publicized libels and defamations in the left’s quiver against straight white males.

Tom Maguire at Just One Minute laid out the game, It’s all worth reading. Here’s a sample:

To belabor the obvious, how will the media come out in a showdown between Evil White Christian Trump-loving Anti-Abortions Sons of the Oppressive Patriarchy and a beloved minority? My goodness, those high schoolers might even include a young Brett Kavanaugh!

The narrative writes itself (aided by Nathan Phillips, the Native Elder, activist and provocateur), as anyone familiar with the Duke lacrosse or UVA rape fantasies has learned.

Well. Just to pick out one “journalist” as an example, Sarah Mervosh of the flailing NY Times had a choice to throw in with the Feel Great, Feel the Hate viral mob, or actually dig for some facts and perspective. Her choice was utterly predictable; her original fan fiction submission was headlined “Viral Video Shows Boys in ‘Make America Great Again’ Hats Mob Native Elder”.”

  4. Apparently they have magical powers. 🙄

“Washington Post article attacks Trump ‘MAGA’ hat, says it represents ‘acid hatred’

“Now the Washington Post hates President Trump’s “Make America Great Again” hats.

The Post’s fashion desk, which has idolized the fashion trends of former first lady Michelle Obama and Speaker Nancy Pelosi but slammed the president and his wife’s threads, has condemned the red “MAGA” hat as a sign of hatred.

“The MAGA hat speaks to America’s greatness with lies of omission and contortion. To wear a MAGA hat is to wrap oneself in a Confederate flag. The look may be more modern and the fit more precise, but it’s just as woeful and ugly,” wrote critic Robin Givhan in Saturday’s Style section.

“The hat has become a symbol of us vs. them, of exclusion and suspicion, of garrulous narcissism, of white male privilege, of violence and hate. For minorities and the disenfranchised, it can spark a kind of gut-level disgust that brings ancestral ghosts to the fore. Here, in 2019, their painful past is present,” she added.

What sparked her rage is unclear, but she mentioned last week’s media sensation over a high schooler wearing the hat smiling and staring at a native American who was banging a drum in their faces. The story has become a symbol for how the Left and the Right can look at the same image and see different worlds.”

It’s a hat people. Nothing more. Perhaps the hate they see is reflected from their own hearts.

  5. It’s actually starting before college now in many cases, but his point stands.

“Home Depot co-founder Bernie Marcus says socialism appeal comes out of universities.
Campus Reform analyses and prior reports support his claim.”

“Home Depot billionaire co-founder Bernie Marcus said Friday that the growing appeal to socialism in America comes out of the universities.

Marcus, during an interview with Fox News’ Neil Cavuto, discussed the deterioration of socialist Venezuela and Cuba, comparing the situations in those countries today with the realities there decades ago, pre-socialist rule. Marcus called the economic downturns in each of those countries, Cuba, in particular, a “perfect example of socialism gone wrong.”

“They [Cuba] took a great country. They put it right down the drain in every way possible,” Marcus said. “People are starving to death. Medical [care] is not available for them. And we have a group of people in Washington today, new representatives especially, that look at socialism as the way to go and if you don’t think that’s dangerous, I do.”

Marcus further addressed where he believes the growing socialist sentiment among Americans is coming from.

“It comes right out of the universities. You see students graduating today and a very high percentage…almost 50 percent of students coming out of universities today believe that socialism is the answer,” Marcus said. “That’s frightening to me because the things that made this country great, that created the wealth of this country, and I mean the wealth of every single person right down the line, the best medical care in the world, the best housing in the world, that’s why people want to come here, is because of the system, and that’s the free enterprise system.”

A recent Campus Reform analysis backs up Marcus’ views. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the Democratic Socialist from the Bronx, recently unveiled her “Green New Deal,” which contains a proposed 70 percent top tax rate among America’s highest earners — those making $10 million per year or more. As it turns out, the overwhelming majority of faculty and administrators at Ocasio-Cortez’s alma mater, Boston University, financially supported Democrats and Democrat causes from 2017-2018.

In total, Boston University college employees donated $610,759.80 from 2017-2018. Of that amount, 97.57 percent were made to Democrat politicians or Democrat organizations, while just 2.43 percent of the donations were made to Republican politicians or Republican organizations.

This analysis was just one of multiple studies Campus Reform conducted to uncover the political leanings of college faculty and administrators.”

  6. In a word….. Yes.

  7. Further proof.

” Prominent liberal Democrats opposed 2018’s criminal justice reform, and CNN progressive commentator Van Jones thinks he knows why.

Presidential hopefuls Sens. Kamala Harris and Cory Booker joined Sen. Dick Durbin and Reps. John Lewis and Sheila Jackson Lee on a May 2017 letter calling the First Step Act “a step backwards.”

“I think publicly they were saying it doesn’t go far enough,” Jones said in a video played at the winter Koch Seminar Sunday morning. “I think privately, they just didn’t want Trump to have a victory.”

The bill was prominently championed by an unlikely alliance of Jones, billionaire industrialist Charles Koch’s libertarian network, President Donald Trump’s son in law Jared Kushner, Kim Kardashian West and Utah Sen. Mike Lee. President Donald Trump signed it into law Dec. 21, at the conclusion of the 115th Congress and just a day before partisan gridlock kicked off the longest government shutdown in U.S. history.

While Senate Democrats ended up voting in lockstep for the act, joining the GOP to beat back a 12-vote law-and-order protest, in the House, 57 Democrats, including Reps. Lewis, Barbara Lee, Maxine Waters, Hank Johnson, Elijah Cummings, Al Green and Joseph Kennedy, ended up voting against the law– dwarfing the two Republican nays.”

They don’t care about what’s good for America, only what’s good for their pathetic party.

  8. Poor Ben….

He and his ilk will get no sympathy from me.

    Or Randy Quaid.

Even the crazy guy gets it Ben. These hacks are jobless because their work product sucks and nobody is reading it. They are activists pretending to be journalists in the first place. But you already knew that because you hired most of them for exactly that reason. Good riddance.

  9. She’s a documented Jew hater, she can’t help herself.

  10. Looks like I’ll have to fix Ben’s Tweet above for him…..

What a disgusting thing to say about do to dozens of American my workers who just lost their I just fired from their jobs.

“Poor BuzzFeed. Between the crappy reporting with the Russia investigation and laying off hundreds of employees, BuzzFeed now faces a revolt from those still employed over the fact that the publication will not provide the laid workers paid time off (PTO).

So far 513 employees have signed the letter addressed to CEO Jonah Peretti, HR head Lenke Taylor, and editor-in-chief Ben Smith

    From the letter:

BuzzFeed is refusing to pay out earned, accrued, and vested paid time off for almost all US employees who have been laid off. They will only pay out PTO to employees in California, where the law requires it. We understand that in other states where BuzzFeed employees have been laid off, state law does not require you to do so. But employers absolutely can pay out PTO — and often do. It is a choice, and for a company that has always prided itself on treating its employees well, we unequivocally believe it is the only justifiable choice.

This is paid time that employees accrued by choosing not to take vacation days, and instead do their work at BuzzFeed. Many of the employees who have been laid off had the most difficult jobs in terms of scheduling — such as the breaking and curation teams on BuzzFeed News who regularly worked weekends and holidays, or managers who weren’t able to use vacation time because they were expected to be available to their teams. They saved up those days (or weeks) because they were so dedicated to their work, and, in some cases, felt actively discouraged from taking time off. They have as much of a right to those days as anyone else.

For many people, paying out PTO will be the difference between whether or not bills and student loans will be paid on time and how their families are supported. It is unconscionable that BuzzFeed could justify doing so for some employees and not others in order to serve the company’s bottom line.

Those laid off by BuzzFeed will receive 10 weeks pay and benefits through April.”

  11. Trump was blamed for the shutdown because he said he would do it. No need to blame press.

Wearing a hoodie apparentmy made a black teen a thug and acceptable for Zimmerman to kill Trevyon Martin. Yeta MAGA hat is only hat and to make assumptions is simply silly.

  12. The right is so quick to throw the anti-Semetic tag esp on the new Dem reps that they miss the facts. Ilhan Omar is correct; 17 million died in the holocaust of which 6-7 million are Jewish.

It appears in an attempt to score political points and throw out the anti Semitic tag, the right has ignored facts and politicized the Holocaust. If the right keeps yelling antisemitism the term will loss its meaning

  13. Amused to see American billionaires running scared of socialist; a little more fear they might even pay a proper rate of taxation.
The billionaires might want to get their facts straight though. Cuba under Batista was a mess….Castro was an improvement. Under Batista, Havana was the playground of Mafia and the ordinary Cubans lived in conditions not much different than Haiti. Currently, Cuba has a higher literacy rate, life expectancy rate, education rate, and other HDI indicators than any other Latin American state and roughly equal to many US states. The Cubans are definetely not starving.

Home Depot man might have Cuba and Venezuela mixed up. The current Venezuela economy and political rule is extremely difficult for most people. The problem is not Bolivarian style socialism but the failure of of both Chavez and Maduro to plan for a post-oil future. They spent oil money on social programs thinking oil prices would stay high not expecting the Saudi’s to flood the market and the US to discover massive oil fields in the Dakotas. Its not socialism but an overreliance of one commodity.

  14. PS I don’t think that link at 6:38 might be worth reading to know what people are saying, but not because it is just. It fails on multiple counts:

    1. It assumes the boys’ guilt.
    2. It keeps saying that black boys don’t have the luxury to stand where they want to or whatever . . . which could easily be read as saying black kids “behave better in public than these kids.” That’s simply not true.
    3. The white boys were not the misbehaving ones in this group–the other two groups were. No one was “blocking” anything. And, yes, a person actually does have the right to continue standing in a public place even when others try to intimidate him into moving.
    4. Yes, it is very hard to be a black male in today’s culture. But the biggest threat to black boys is not white teenage boys. It’s other black boys and black men (and, in many cases, their own choices).

  15. Gearldo said exactly that; Treyvon shouldn’t have worn a hood, it made him look like a thug and thus it excused Zimmerman.

    1. I watched multiple videos. The boys jeered, taunted, tommokawked, harassed girls, made rape jokes….and that was just an afternoon at a pro life rally.

    2. You read it wrong. It said simply black boys can’t do what white boys do….see my #1. After all, Treyvon couldn’t even wear a hoodie.

    3. The boys were misbehaving….tommokawk chops, jeering, etc. And yes they should’ve walked away, as a teacher I’ve directed my students to walk away from similar situations. Only entitled youth insist they can stand wherever they want.

    4. The biggest threat to black boys is the George Zimmerman’s of the world or cops who make snap judgments based on appearances. Something Sandman might understand now that assumptions were made based on his MAGA hat.

  16. The assertion the boys had the right to stand their ground is the same right that allowed George Zimmerman to shoot Treyvon Martin.
