It’s Friday, so please remember to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the Nestlings.
Anyone else?
Psalm 147
1 Praise the Lord.
How good it is to sing praises to our God,
how pleasant and fitting to praise him!
2 The Lord builds up Jerusalem;
he gathers the exiles of Israel.
3 He heals the brokenhearted
and binds up their wounds.
4 He determines the number of the stars
and calls them each by name.
5 Great is our Lord and mighty in power;
his understanding has no limit.
6 The Lord sustains the humble
but casts the wicked to the ground.
7 Sing to the Lord with grateful praise;
make music to our God on the harp.
8 He covers the sky with clouds;
he supplies the earth with rain
and makes grass grow on the hills.
9 He provides food for the cattle
and for the young ravens when they call.
10 His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse,
nor his delight in the legs of the warrior;
11 the Lord delights in those who fear him,
who put their hope in his unfailing love.
12 Extol the Lord, Jerusalem;
praise your God, Zion.
13 He strengthens the bars of your gates
and blesses your people within you.
14 He grants peace to your borders
and satisfies you with the finest of wheat.
15 He sends his command to the earth;
his word runs swiftly.
16 He spreads the snow like wool
and scatters the frost like ashes.
17 He hurls down his hail like pebbles.
Who can withstand his icy blast?
18 He sends his word and melts them;
he stirs up his breezes, and the waters flow.
19 He has revealed his word to Jacob,
his laws and decrees to Israel.
20 He has done this for no other nation;
they do not know his laws.[b]
Praise the Lord.
The teenage sons of our Nicaraguan contact for the eyeglass ministry, are in court today seeking political asylum. We’re asking for prayer– God’s will be done.
The older son, 19, attended a peaceful rally against the current government last April. Photos taken of the rally determined he was there and the police came to arrest him in October. His parents had sent him and his 16 year -old brother to relatives in the US.
The police beat up our contract friend, tied him up and tore apart his house looking for the young man, before heading next door to search for him at the boy’s grandmother’s home.
They left behind threats for what they would do to the boy if they catch him.
Thanks.

Coming alongside
And I think we also need to pray for Tim and Chris today.

Praying, Michelle.
Requesting prayers today for myself. I’ve had a sore throat since Wednesday evening — it’s wickedly intense at night, while lying down, but milder during the daytime. Today now it is accompanied by a headache. I felt like a wet noodle for a few hours this morning.
Thanks.

Mumsee, is something specific going on with Tim and Chris today? Is the date an anniversary?

I slipped on some ice and bumped my head pretty hard last night in the fall. Since I’m on a blood thinner that’s an automatic trip to the ER for a CT scan. It was almost funny how every person I talked to between the front desk and the doctor said “the doctor will probably order a CT scan”.
I didn’t black out in the fall. The CT scan came out fine, and they sent me home. I’m not particularly sore today and I don’t have any neurological symptoms.
But I do feel a bit extra tired. Some of that is because I’ve been working crazy hours at my job for two weeks as we’re wrapping up a year-long project at work, and I’m just weary. But it seems I’m a bit more tired than I should be.
My main Christmas present to Mrs. B. was a pair of tickets to tomorrow night’s ice dance final program at the US Figure Skating Championship in Detroit, a competition we both enjoy, but she does especially. When it was announced a year ago that the competition would be in Detroit this year I knew this would be my Christmas present to her.
Would you pray for me for a good recovery from the head bump and a successful conclusion to the work project, and for me and Mrs. B. a good time together tomorrow night at the competition? I really want that to be a special blessing to her.

And, Kevin, I don’t know. Only that they have come to mind several times today. Seems like a good reason to pray for them. When did KBells die?

I was wondering that too. I know we’ve been through two football seasons without her (thanks to Peter), so it must have been in 2017 before September..

KBells died in August one year. I believe 2017 was indeed the year.
Praying for you, Kevin.

Yes, it was August 2017. She died almost two months before Hubby.

I am sure things come up for them from time to time, and Chris is reaching that age….

Does anybody hear from them?
Kevin, sounds like you’re an (aspiring) ice dancer yourself. Selling tickets?
Glad you’re OK.

Husband was unable to get any help today. Four doctors agreed that he should have a blood patch for a spinal fluid leak, but the guy on call who would be the one to do it refused without even talking to husband. So, after 8 hours we are back home and husband is lying prone to help with the headache. Hopefully someone will call tomorrow for him to come back in. What a day.

Oh, my heart goes out to both him and you, kare! That is terrible, IMO. Shame, shame on that doctor. Is there any way you can report him? No one should be that callous.

Did he give any reason for refusing? That sounds so wrong.
Prayers for relief, and a good, healing night of sleep, for your husband. And may you sleep well, too.

Oh, so sorry, Kare.
I am horribly sick feeling tonight. Headache is worse, and a whole lot of new physical ills cropped up. Please pray.

DJ, my addled brain took a minute to figure out your joke, but when I finally did I LOLed and had to explain it to Mrs B and KJ. Thanks for your insight!
Praying for Kare and her husband, Chris and Tim, 6 Arrows, and the Nicaraguan family Michelle mentioned. Also Kim and Mumsee and their families.
I am feeling a little better this evening and look forward to hitting the pillow in a few minutes.
