Prayer Requests 5-1-18

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 90

Lord, you have been our dwelling place
    throughout all generations.
Before the mountains were born
    or you brought forth the whole world,
    from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
You turn people back to dust,
    saying, “Return to dust, you mortals.”
A thousand years in your sight
    are like a day that has just gone by,
    or like a watch in the night.
Yet you sweep people away in the sleep of death—
    they are like the new grass of the morning:
In the morning it springs up new,
    but by evening it is dry and withered.
We are consumed by your anger
    and terrified by your indignation.
You have set our iniquities before you,
    our secret sins in the light of your presence.
All our days pass away under your wrath;
    we finish our years with a moan.
10 Our days may come to seventy years,
    or eighty, if our strength endures;
   yet the best of them are but trouble and sorrow,
    for they quickly pass, and we fly away.
11 If only we knew the power of your anger!
    Your wrath is as great as the fear that is your due.
12 Teach us to number our days,
    that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
13 Relent, Lord! How long will it be?
    Have compassion on your servants.
14 Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love,
    that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.
15 Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us,
    for as many years as we have seen trouble.
16 May your deeds be shown to your servants,
    your splendor to their children.
17 May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us;
    establish the work of our hands for us—
    yes, establish the work of our hands.

  1. Just catching up again on here. My heart goes out to you, Kim. Know you and your daughter are always in my prayers. Kizzie, same with you. I still remember attending a funeral the day after coming home with a new baby. Such a jumble of emotions!

  2. I did a double take on the date on this thread. Not sure how we regressed, but our weather does, indeed, make me feel like that. ;D

  3. Baby Landon, the preemie I’ve mentioned before, is in the hospital again, with possible pneumonia. His nana is very worried. This poor little baby has been going from one crisis to another.

    Sadly, so has his Nana Jenn, who is in need of a major surgery that doctors are saying she may not survive. And due to a heart condition that has worsened, she may not even be able to have that surgery anyway. She is only in her mid-40s, but looks older due to the pain and health issues she has been dealing with for several years. So please pray for both Landon and Jenn. Thank you.

  4. Please pray for my mother-in-law (T), who is back in the hospital again; her hemoglobin plunged to 6 (from 12 at the previous check).

    This is all very hard on my husband, who is dealing with his own physical issues, of course. (His hip, on which there is still no progress.) Nothing is working, and he’s about at the end of his rope. I’ve never heard him mutter as many curse words as he has this week, when the pain comes or just when he’s talking about life in general. I don’t think he’s ever needed prayers as much as he needs them now.

    Please also pray for my brother-in-law, D (my MIL lives with him). We saw them Sunday, and he’s looking more fatigued than I’ve ever seen him, and he sounded quite tired, as well, when he called this morning to say MIL was being admitted to the hospital again. He had his own medical crisis not long ago when he ate lobster for the first time and had a severe allergic reaction. Seventeen hours in the ER (or maybe ER and hospital combined? I’m not sure), and a $42,000 bill.

    A lot of worn-out souls around here. (And in the blog family, too, I see, in catching up with the prayer thread.) Thank you for your prayers, and you have mine.

  5. Joanne shared this on Facebook. I’m not sure how old Arwen is, but she is not a little girl, but still a girl. I don’t think she’s hit her teens yet, but I could be mistaken. This young lady has a malignant tumor. Chemo treatments have not caused it to shrink.

    “Below are the details, shared by her mother, of Arwen’s surgery set for tomorrow morning . Please read below and PRAY!!

    Thank you!

    Just some details: this is a very complex surgery. The tumor has grown around nerves and arteries and the surgeons are going to do their best to cut it away from those, but it’s very delicate work. The surgery will take all day (8-12 hours) and even if they’re as careful as possible, they could nick a nerve or artery and cause severe and lasting damage. So please, please pray! The surgery starts at 7:30 am EST.”
