Prayer Requests 3-24-18

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 46

God is our refuge and strength,
    an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
    and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
    and the mountains quake with their surging.

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
    the holy place where the Most High dwells.
God is within her, she will not fall;
    God will help her at break of day.
Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
    he lifts his voice, the earth melts.

The Lord Almighty is with us;
    the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Come and see what the Lord has done,
    the desolations he has brought on the earth.
He makes wars cease
    to the ends of the earth.
   He breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
    he burns the shields with fire.
10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
    I will be exalted among the nations,
    I will be exalted in the earth.”

11 The Lord Almighty is with us;
    the God of Jacob is our fortress.

  1. Mr P had another “failed” procedure on his back yesterday. I can see depression setting in. He really does need a “come to Jesus” experience. It seems he watches CNN all day and just gets angrier.
    He needs to get out of the house, focus on what he does have, and DO something.

  2. I remember that from when husband was trying to find the right treatment for his pain. Now that he has it, we rarely see him anymore! But I am happy for him to not be hurting and to be back in the game of paying the bills and enjoying driving. Praying for you both.

  4. The doctors are discussing possible surgical repair for Carol’s fistula which really needs to be closed. They told her the intent is to send her to USC, a teaching hospital, for the procedure. Without this, it is a constant source of potential sepsis and other life-threatening issues. She says she’s had it for 7 years (I thought it was only 3), since one of her hernia operations, and said she was told at the time it would close up on its own but it never did and she apparently never asked a doctor about it. Now it’s all very complicated to “fix” — and the surgery sounds risky as well, they’ve ruled it out in the past for that reason, but now perhaps it’s not deemed as risky as the status quo of leaving that thing open.

    I’m squeamish and can barely talk about it so I have asked infrequently about it but it’s always bothered me that she has such a thing.

    My cousin came home following hip replacement surgery and is still in pain and feeling pretty stiff. Our guy cousin is staying with her for a day or two as she settles in back home & a physical therapist has been in touch with her to schedule in-home appointments to get her back up and operating. She’s had trouble adjusting also to the pain meds, they’re making her nauseous. Otherwise, the surgery went well and there are no complications expected. It sounds like the immediate aftermath has just been a little tougher than she’d hoped (and expected) it would be.
