  1. Good Morning. Lulabelle got Mr. P up at 5 so she could go outside. Amos decided it was too warm in the bed and wouldn’t go. He woke me at 6. Life as scheduled by dogs.
We had a very nice dinner last night. We are officially OLD. Our reservations were for 8pm. About 9pm, and well before we had dessert, we both were yawning, saying it was late, that we were tired. Go ahead. Laugh. We did.

  2. Late yesterday afternoon the snow was starting to melt and create mist / fog. I went out to get photos and found a herd of deer taking advantage of the low visibility to get some much-needed nourishment. I think deer living pretty close to starvation through most winters, and does are pregnant and need all they can get–though this was nothing close to a harsh winter. I got some photos that could almost have been taken in a rain forest in terms of atmosphere. The snow was slushy, its icy crust gone.

Got up this morning to find nearly all the snow already melted. Kind of odd to go from full yard coverage last night (with my footprints all over the yard) to no snow at all except right near the back door where the area is shaded and protected from wind by several elements (house, garage, fence, and bushes).

  3. Some may think I’m joking at my 8:46.
But if I’m walking along and come to a curb or stairs, I may misjudge if I have my bi-focal on.
You have to think about these things.

  4. EYG – I changed my name, and those of my family members, for some protection, especially concerning my older daughter’s ex-fiance, the father of her son, who physically attacked her back in July of 2016. (Older daughter, an LPN, is Nightingale, younger daughter is Chickadee, and grandson is The Boy. Ex-fiance is Mr X.)

But honestly, I am half-hearted about it. I often mention my town or church by name.

  5. Father in law broke his leg that way. He and his wife were driving to visit relatives in Wisconsin, from Florida. They stopped so he could ask directions, he misjudged a curb, and ended up in the hospital with a broken leg. Husband and sis went over and drove them back to Florida. It would have been easier if they had just driven them to begin with but independence can be a challenge. I believe he was eighty eight or eighty nine at the time. That is a long drive.

  7. Hi Peter L ! Long time no see! 😊
I’m going to try to get the hang of this format. :). It’s very nice to see everyone.

    To all:
    It has been ages.

What’s new today is that our son told us yesterday that his girlfriend is “the one” and that he loves her.

We are very happy for him. Ihe has lived a lonely life as a soldier and contractor, so we are pleased that she and her baby daughter from a previous relationship will be on his life journey with him.

It is not good for man to be alone.

  8. Had an interesting talk with The Boy the other night. Nightingale was working second shift, and Chickadee had been picked up by a friend, so it was just the two of us. He was snuggled down on the couch next to me to go to sleep, but was feeling talkative.

He told me he doesn’t believe in God, but believes in Jesus (as in he believes He is real, not “believing in” as we would think). Why? Because he’s seen pictures of baby Jesus in books. 🙂

I told him that God had to exist, too, because He is Jesus’ father. “How do you know?” (He asks that a lot when told certain facts he hasn’t heard before.) Well, I replied, His story is written in the Bible, and it says that. There was a little more to the brief conversation, but that was the important part of it.

I took this as an answer to prayer. Hubby was bold enough to say things about God and Jesus to The Boy now and then, but I often don’t know what to say, or even if it is the right time to say something. (Remember, he has been adamant that “God is fake” because of Nightingale teaching him that.) With Hubby gone, I need to step into the void, but I feel so inadequate.

So I have prayed for God to give me the opportunity, and give me the words. The Boy’s out-of-the-blue remark that evening took me by pleasant surprise, and our conversation didn’t get into the gospel, but it was a beginning. And the fact that he showed some interest is promising.

I cannot take his Papa’s place, but I can be the Mimi that God wants me to be.

  9. Have done the first load of laundry in this new washer. The drum is so BIG (without an agitator inside), a full basket of clothing didn’t seem to get more than 1/4 up the side. It only took 27 minutes to wash a load of lightly soiled jeans!

Adorable #5 and I watched it work through the glass window top (!). She didn’t want to get too close because we suggested putting her inside to see if she would fit (she would).

I’ve got a load of whites going now.

The days are busy when I take Adorables 2 and 4 to school. I keep thinking it’s surely time for dinner by now . . . .

  10. Not much happening on here while I slept here in Papua New Guinea.
I have been to market this morning and got what will probably be the last of the mangoes. The ones here are nothing like what I saw at stores in the states. These are long and narrow. One will be enough for an entire recipe of mango chicken, which I will be making this weekend. Friday here and time to head off to school.

  11. We had rain this morning!! It has been the driest winter I have ever experienced. I fell this morning and scraped my knee and elbow. I tripped over some railroad ties by the chicken pen. It was 0400, so I have the excuse that it was dark.

  12. The drum of my new washer is huge (even with the agitator). I could never do much heavy bedding in my old 1990-era machine. This one handles just about everything I throw at it, even comforters (which I could never wash at home).

It’s a beautiful spring-like day here today. Think we’ll head to the dog park. I just finished spreading some grass seed in the front yard and bought several packets of wildflower seeds for the backyard. I don’t have a plan. I will just sow, sow, sow, and see what comes up. I’m tired of looking at the dirt out there.

  13. We had fires all over the county, yesterday. The scanner by my desk was squawking all day long. Scary when you hear so many fire districts out fighting fire.

  15. Well, I made it through the day at school. One boy hurt another and then lied to me about it. Oh, that makes me mad. Later I let him in a center to play, but told him that he was being rough with my cars and needed to be careful. Within two minutes he was again being rough and had to leave that centre. I don’t think that he is getting the discipline he needs. Pray for eyes to see and that we will follow through.
