Prayer Requests 12-30-17

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 119:153-160

153 Look on my suffering and deliver me,
    for I have not forgotten your law.
154 Defend my cause and redeem me;
    preserve my life according to your promise.
155 Salvation is far from the wicked,
    for they do not seek out your decrees.
156 Your compassion, Lord, is great;
    preserve my life according to your laws.
157 Many are the foes who persecute me,
    but I have not turned from your statutes.
158 I look on the faithless with loathing,
    for they do not obey your word.
159 See how I love your precepts;
    preserve my life, Lord, in accordance with your love.
160 All your words are true;
    all your righteous laws are eternal.

  1. Please remember Leslie and Lee in your prayers. Both are friends who are battling cancer.
    Lee has had some success at the Cancer Center in Tulsa. From what I understand through her posts is that it is very Christian based. They bring in musical therapy (she is a music teacher in the Houston area), therapy dogs, each person received a knitted prayer shawl.
    Leslie has been home since Christmas Eve and doing well, until last night she posted in a private group that she is throwing up again and has another UTI. She has spent 3 months total in the hospital this year and has lost 80 pounds. I find myself asking how much any one person ought to have to endure. Any one of the 3 things she is battling would make me curl up and feel sorry for myself. She doesn’t. Or at least not in public. She tells me she has her breakdown moments.
    I am awed by both of these women, both for their faith and their strength.

  2. Just got word that the daughter of a dear friend in Chicago (I introduced this friend to my Chicago church as “Mama J—–“) died this morning of cancer. Mama J. lost a leg to diabetes about three years ago, and I was able to travel to see her summer 2016. The friend who told me lost one of her own children, to suicide, seven or eight years ago.

    I know the lady who died, taught at least one of her children in our church’s club program. I’ve had meals with the entire extended family (Mama J had seven children, many grands and great-grands, and I also met her father and much-younger half-sister). The daughter who died was, I think, the one most involved in her mother’s care through the years. I don’t remember whether she was the firstborn.

  3. Please pray for safe travels for both Nightingale & Chickadee. There is some snow that has fallen on frozen roads, making them slick & causing some accidents. Nightingale will be coming home from work in an hour or so. Chickadee just got picked up from here by the McKs to go up to the home, in Massachusetts, of Mrs. McK’s sister for a party. (They will be spending the night there I think.) Thank you.

  4. Cheryl, the parents definitely. I do not know about the daughter who died. I was really close with my cousin when young. We had visited maybe three times since I became a married adult, twice when Wesley was young. We both got busy in our communities so our lives did not have as much in common.

  5. and here. The Baptists will be sending someone today to answer questions from the congregation and find out any concerns people want to bring forward as we evidently begin the process of getting a new pastor. The old one will be staying around, he is a teacher in the local school, but is stepping down for whatever reason. We all like him and appreciate how the Lord has used him in our community.

  6. I just took Amos out to stay with his other daddy. I asked ex husband where his wife was. He told me they “had a new grandchild”. I know some of the background of this story. Please pray for this little girl who was born today. She isn’t getting the best start in life.

  7. Please pray that husband can figure out where the oil is leaking from out of our furnace and that he will be able to fix it. We’re still pretty cold here and no heat would be bad.

  8. Praise that our house didn’t burn down. I don’t know much about furnaces, but the oil was partly spraying into the pre-combustion chamber and burning where it’s not supposed to!!. Husband is currently out at the woodpile cutting wood to burn. We had been using the oil option instead of wood because of his physical condition but… Please pray for his health as well. Thank you.
