  1. Ricky mentioned the DACA protests his son encountered yesterday in DC. Dems and illegals want a fix.

Well, they got it. But be careful what you wish for.

    https://hotair.com/archives/2017/12/07/democrats-asked-daca-fix-dont-think-theyre-going-like/

“Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi and most of their Democratic colleagues have been calling for a “clean” DACA fix. Presumably, this means that they would like either an addition to the budget agreement or a standalone bill which simply offers citizenship to all of the current and former DACA enrollees. It’s clearly a problem in search of a solution, so Senator Chuck Grassley (R – Iowa) and a group of other Republicans have put forward a compromise.

The new bill is being referred to as the SECURE Act and it addresses a variety of immigration and national security issues including the fate of the “dreamers.” But I somehow get the feeling that Chuck and Nancy really aren’t going to be wild about it. (Daily Caller)

Senate Republicans introduced legislation Tuesday that would not give permanent amnesty to so-called “Dreamers,” would lower legal immigration and provide funding for border barriers.

President Donald Trump has called on Congress to find a legislative fix for the roughly 800,000 illegal immigrants protected by the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. The White House additionally laid out a 70-point immigration plan that featured a litany of wishes including implementing a merit-based immigration system, the hiring of 10,000 additional Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers and border wall funding.

Republican Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley’s SECURE Act largely fulfills these goals and has the backing of Senate leadership as Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn is a co-sponsor of the legislation.

So does this solve the problem of the dreamers the way the Democrats wanted? Yes and no. As things stand now, in a few months every one of them would be an eligible target for ICE deportation efforts when DACA expires. Under this new proposal, there is no general amnesty nor immediate opportunity for citizenship, but it would instead implement the BRIDGE Act, giving them work permits and protection from deportation for three years.

While this will no doubt elicit howls of protest from the Senate Minority Leader, it’s actually not that bad of a deal. Those working on a legal path to citizenship would have more time to get the process in gear while being able to legally work and pay taxes. Those unwilling or unable to follow the legal path to citizenship like all other immigrants would have several years to figure out where they are going and get their ducks in a row. All things considered, it’s not a bad deal since they would otherwise be in the country illegally come springtime.

What the GOP wants in return is pretty much the exact list I’ve been asking for here when previously discussing the issue. There’s funding for roughly 6,000 more Border Patrol agents, $300M for “border barrier” infrastructure (including walls, fences and electronic surveillance), social media screening and DNA sample collection for applicants from high-risk countries and more funding for criminal alien repatriation flights (deportations).”

But due to the influence of their Chamber of Commerce and big business overlords, Republicans are not demanding E-Verify.

  2. 1. Bill Clinton didn’t like Kenneth Starr.

    2. Hillary Clinton and her supporters hated FBI Director James Comey and blamed him for her election loss.

    3. Trump and the Trumpkins hated Comey who was fired by Trump.

    4. Trump and the Trumpers hate Assistant AG Ron Rosenstein who Trump appointed to his post just this year.

    5. Trump and his cult want Bob Mueller (a lifelong Republican whose appointment was praised by Reps and Dems) to be removed.

    6. Trump says morale at the FBI is terrible and it’s reputation is “in tatters”.

    7. Trumpkins now are attacking FBI Director Chris Wray who Trump appointed this year to the post.

Lesson: Dishonest people and their supporters hate law enforcement personnel. That is just as true in the Oval Office as it is in the ghetto.

  3. Nunes did the damage to his own reputation by calling press conferences to announce he was delivering critical information to the White House when he had just been given the information by the White House. He is a candidate for both Nitwit of the Year and Toadie of the Year, but the competition is going to be fierce.

  4. Ricky,

You constantly claim moral superiority to Trump and anyone who supports him. Yet time and time again you ignore crimes that should outrage you as long as they’re happening to Trump or someone who supports. As a lawyer, I would think the obvious breaking of laws as demonstrated by Jordan in the video (which I suspect you didn’t bother to watch) would bother you. Yet it doesn’t. Your hatred for Trump is clouding your judgement. The actions of Mueller, Rosenstein, Strzok, Ohr, Comey and others have tarnished the reputation of the FBI and DoJ and politicized the enforcement of our laws. They did this, all Trump is doing is pointing it out, and you bash him daily for it. Regardless of who the offender is and what side they’re on, crimes like this should draw your condemnation. Yet that never once has happened. Listening to your opinion about anything to do with Trump has become like hearing the rantings of a partisan, leftist, whack job. Slap yourself, and get a grip.

  5. And another one bites the dust…….

    https://hotair.com/archives/2017/12/07/uh-oh-gop-rep-trent-franks-expected-resign/

“She noted later that the Franks rumors had been circulating earlier this afternoon in the Capitol. He’s a member of the House Freedom Caucus and an ardent pro-life warrior — and, apparently, a soon-to-be ex-congressman:

“We will have a statement a little bit later, but that’s all I can tell you right now,” Franks told Roll Call. “The statement will explain.”

It is unclear exactly why Franks is stepping down, but one Arizona Republican said there had been rumors of inappropriate behavior. The Republican said the congressman had apparently been making plans to run for Senate in 2012, but abruptly canceled those plans.

“There’s been rumors swirling around him for years, at least in 2012,” the Republican said. “And if this turns out to be true, there won’t be that many people who are surprised.”
Roy Moore’s about to be elected to the Senate and Al Franken may yet get a second chance to hold onto his seat. What the hell could be coming out on Franks that’s so terrible that he’s impelled to resign before it even breaks? Is the idea that if he hands over his scalp before anything is published, the story might be scrapped on grounds that there’s no point hounding someone who’s already fallen on his sword? I don’t think the #MeToo moment in journalism will allow that.

I suppose quitting at least spares him the ordeal of being questioned by reporters about whatever it is in the Capitol’s hallways.

He told reporters on his way off the House floor a few minutes ago that his statement will “speak for itself.” Stand by for updates.”

    https://legalinsurrection.com/2017/12/office-of-compliance-tells-house-committee-it-cannot-release-sexual-harassment-details/

“Demands for answers have been shouted out almost every day since The Washington Post reported how the Office of Compliance for Congress has shelled out over $17 million for 264 settlements and award over various violations. This includes sexual harassment.

The Ethics Committee promised to get to the bottom of it as shouts of ‘unseal the deals’ rung out. They’re having trouble, though, because the Office of Compliance isn’t cooperating and withholding important details.

The exchange occurred during a hearing with the House Administration Committee “on Capitol Hill’s workplace harassment policies.” Now Congress wants to look into making changes to the 1995 Congressional Accountability Act. The committee “is reviewing potential proposals to hold lawmakers accountable and empower victims, including tracking every settlement made informally and formally.”

    The Hill reported:

The chairwoman of the House Ethics Committee, Rep. Susan Brooks (R-Ind.), and the panel’s top Democrat, Rep. Ted Deutch (Fla.), had asked the office tasked with handling workplace disputes on Capitol Hill to provide records about allegations of sexual harassment and other violations involving current lawmakers and staff.

Brooks expressed frustration that the Office of Compliance is not able to comply with the request from the Ethics Committee as a result of strict confidentiality limitations.

“So we’re not getting anything,” Brooks said at a House Administration Committee hearing on Capitol Hill’s workplace harassment policies.

The Office’s hands are tied because of confidentiality agreements the victims are often forced to sign. We heard about it in cases against Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) and Rep. Blake Farenthold (R-TX).”

  7. Nunes and Jordan are Trump toadies. Clinton had his toadies back in 1998. John Conyers was one of them. Nixon even had Toadies in 1973-1974. When Congressmen become toadies focused on obstructing the work of law enforcement to protect corrupt Presidents , they are like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton trying to obstruct the work of the police in order to protect criminals in the ghettos.

  9. Solar P @ 10:22 You got to me thinking, and I agree with you. No political party is perfect, but I would say that the Republican Party began its descent into semi-liberalism, amorality and idiocy when Reagan left office in 1989:
    1. Big Bush was never a conservative and he quickly joined with the Dems to begin to rollback positive reforms Reagan had made on the tax, spending and regulatory fronts.
    2. Regarding amorality, Gingrich was a proto-Trump. Thrice married like Trump, he also had affairs with each future wife while still married to the prior wife in true Trumpian fashion. Gingrich joined the House leadership in 1989, becoming Speaker in 1995.
    3. The descent into idiocy also started decades ago. Friedman and Buckley were supplanted by Limbaugh long before Fox News was created. Little Bush, though smarter than Palin, was intellectually lazy just like Trump, and this had catastrophic results.

  10. I’m no Trump guy. Didn’t vote for him. Did some online whining here and elsewhere about how I thought it would be a bad idea to do so. I still feel that way. But…

How about all the misreporting? In addition to the Brian Ross fiasco, and the Deutsche Bank article Ricky posted a few days ago that turned out to be false, and which indirectly earned me a cyber-brisket, the Russian thing continues to be a flaccid balloon thanks to breathless takes by CNN and others. Journalists, please count to 10 before hitting Submit. Or look for a different kind of employment; maybe hotel management, or bowling alley maintenance.

  11. More false reporting to make Trump look bad. This time CNN.

    http://dailycaller.com/2017/12/08/cnn-botches-major-bombshell-alleging-contacts-between-don-jr-and-wikileaks/

“CNN misreported key details of an offer made to Donald Trump Jr. last year of a batch of stolen Wikileaks documents.

The story, which CNN published on Friday and covered extensively on TV, was touted as the first evidence that the Trump campaign was given a heads-up about documents stolen from Democrats.

But the story appears to have been riddled with errors, while also lacking key context.

Perhaps the most jarring error in the CNN report is the date on which Trump Jr. was sent the email. The network reported that a person named Mike Erickson emailed Trump Jr. and others on the Trump campaign on Sept. 4, 2016, with a link to Wikileaks documents as well as a decryption key to access them.

The email also offered access to emails that had been stolen from former Sec. of State Colin Powell, according to CNN.

But a copy of the email provided to The Daily Caller shows that Erickson sent the email on Sept. 14.

That date is significant because WikiLeaks had released a batch of stolen documents on Sept. 13. The group touted its release of the DNC documents, which were published by Guccifer 2.0.”
    ——————–

““The email was never read or responded to — and the House Intelligence Committee knows this,” he told The Post.

“It is profoundly disappointing that members of the House Intelligence Committee would deliberately leak a document, with the misleading suggestion that the information was not public, when they know that there is not a scintilla of evidence that Mr. Trump Jr. read or responded to the email.”

    ——————–

They received them when they were publicly available, and not before because they were conspiring with WikiLeaks as CNN alleged.

And oh look, more criminal leaks from Democrats and their bureaucratic lackeys.

    http://www.businessinsider.com/us-jobs-report-november-2017-12

“The US economy added 228,000 nonfarm payrolls in November, more than economists had forecast, a report on Friday from the Bureau of Labor Statistics showed.

The unemployment rate remained near a 17-year low of 4.1%.

Overall, the report demonstrated that job creation remained strong in the US even after deadly hurricanes slammed into the Southeast this fall and temporarily weakened hiring. Economists had forecast that nonfarm payrolls increased by 195,000 on net with the unemployment rate unchanged at 4.1%, according to Bloomberg.

Wage growth was weaker than expected. Average hourly earnings rose 0.2% from October and increased by 2.5% compared with November 2016. Some structural forces, including changes in the labor-force makeup between high-income and low-income earners and lower labor-market turnover, are likely keeping wage growth slow.

But weak wage growth is also an indication that many Americans either are still not looking for jobs or are wanting to work full time but can find only part-time jobs. The labor-force participation rate held at 62.7% from October.”

  13. And speaking of winning……

The whole world does with this one.

    http://www.foxnews.com/world/2017/12/08/trump-mattis-turn-military-loose-on-isis-leaving-terror-caliphate-in-tatters.html

“Hundreds of ISIS fighters had just been chased out of a northern Syrian city and were fleeing through the desert in long convoys, presenting an easy target to U.S. A-10 “warthogs.”

But the orders to bomb the black-clad jihadists never came, and the terrorists melted into their caliphate — living to fight another day. The events came in August 2016, even as then-Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump was vowing on the campaign trail to let generals in his administration crush the organization that, under President Obama, had grown from the “jayvee team” to the world’s most feared terrorist organization.

“I will…quickly and decisively bomb the hell out of ISIS,” Trump, who would name legendary Marine Corps Gen. James Mattis as secretary of defense, promised. “We will not have to listen to the politicians who are losing the war on terrorism.”

Just over a year later, ISIS has been routed from Iraq and Syria with an ease and speed that’s surprised even the men and women who carried out the mission. Experts say it’s a prime example of a campaign promise kept. President Trump scrapped his predecessor’s rules of engagement, which critics say hamstrung the military, and let battlefield decisions be made by the generals in the theater, and not bureaucrats in Washington.”
    —————————

“The terror organization now controls just 3 percent of Iraq and less than 5 percent of Syria. Its self-styled “caliph,” Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, is believed to be injured and holed up somewhere along the lawless border of Syria and Iraq.

ISIS remains a danger, as members who once ruled cities and villages like a quasi-government now live secretly among civilian populations in the region, in Europe and possibly in the U.S. These cells will likely present a terrorist threat for years. In addition, the terrorist organization is attempting to regroup in places such as the Philippines, Libya and the Sinai Peninsula.

But the military’s job — to take back the land ISIS claimed as its caliphate and liberate cities like Mosul, in Iraq, and Raqqa, in Syria, as well as countless smaller cities and villages, is largely done. And it has taken less than a year.”

  16. Bob, Here are answers to your questions:

    1. The economy has been experienced slow but steady growth since the end of The Great Recession. Growth has been at a relatively low rate because millions of people who lost their jobs in 2007-2008 went on various government programs and/or live with relatives and stopped looking for work.

    2. The Labor Participation Rate grew for many years (most sharply during the Reagan Administration), but has dropped sharply as many (most notably black Democrats and white Trumpkins) stopped working and even stopped looking for work. See chart.

    https://tradingeconomics.com/united-states/labor-force-participation-rate

If Trump is able to persuade even 20% – 30% of idle Trumpkins to give up their unemployment benefits, disability checks and/or food stamps and rejoin the labor force, it will be a great accomplishment. It is very hard for those who have been idle to rejoin the labor force. It is a job for which Trump is well suited. These people will not respond well to:
“Get off your butt and get a job!” They still might respond to: “I have made America great again. Now you can return to work!”
