  1. From last night:

Debra, Military spending is only 15% of federal spending (not 25%). That percentage will continue to shrink as healthcare costs, entitlements and interest on the national debt continue to grow rapidly.

Plus, you may want to reconsider cutting military spending. The biggest group of Trumpkins I know are the union workers at the Lockheed plant that makes fighter planes.

  2. Mona Charen writes about shame and disgrace.

I remember the Crane and Studds scandals. We (the Republicans) were proud that we had voted out our page-molester while the Democrats continued to elect their homosexual page-molester. We have nothing to be proud about now. Trump and Southern Trump (Moore) are right down there with Bill Clinton and Weinstein.

  3. From ATT news:
“President Trump’s hope of becoming friends with Kim Jong Un seems unlikely to pan out now that the North Korean regime has suggested he should, well, die.””

I knew Trump’s tweets would get him into trouble someday.

  4. I guess Ricky was right. Trump has failed the world, and now another country must step up and take our place. To them I say, well, uh…. thanks, I guess………

But Ricky is still partially wrong, the new ruler of the free world is Macron, not Merkel.

  5. Now I’m not standing up for the guy, the jury is still out. But let’s not take it all at face value just because the press says it’s true.

    Exit question.

Would you allow the man you alleged tried to sexually assault you as a teen preside over your divorce as an adult?

That doesn’t really pass the smell test.

“Moore’s attorney, Phillip Jauregui, pointed to two things that he said people “ought to know.”

“During the press conference Ms. Nelson and Gloria Allred had on Monday, they both said that Ms. Nelson after the allegations had never seen nor had any contact with Judge Moore. As it turns out, in 1999, Ms. Nelson filed a divorce action against her then-husband Mr. Harris,” Jauregui told reporters in Alabama.”

“Guess who that case was before? It was filed in Etowah County and the judge assigned was Roy Moore, circuit judge of Etowah County.”

  6. And that dossier? Even the authors are saying it wasn’t verified. But they took it to the press anyway, and Obama and company took it to the FISA court, where I’m sure they alleged it was verified. And the British “spy” is also being sued by others for similar untrue hit pieces.

    http://dailycaller.com/2017/11/15/source-fusion-gps-founder-had-not-verified-dossier-claims-when-he-briefed-reporters/?utm_campaign=atdailycaller&utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=Social

“The founder of Fusion GPS told the House Intelligence Committee on Tuesday that he was upset over former FBI Director James Comey’s decision to reopen the Hillary Clinton email investigation just before Election Day, a source familiar with the testimony tells The Daily Caller.

Glenn Simpson, who founded Fusion in 2011, also acknowledged to the House panel that he did not verify information in the uncorroborated and salacious dossier before briefing reporters on its contents during the campaign, the source says.”

“Simpson’s attorney, Joshua Levy, hinted on Tuesday night that his client was not entirely certain that the dossier allegations were true when reporters were briefed on the document.

“What they did do is they contracted with Christopher Steele…this experienced British intelligence official came back with a report. That now in hindsight looks quite accurate,” Levy told reporters after Simpson’s testimony.

Steele, a former MI6 officer, is said to have told associates that he believes that most of the dossier’s claims are true. In a book set to be published on Thursday, Guardian journalist Luke Harding reports that Steele has told associates that he believes between 70 and 90 percent of the allegations are true.

Steele has also acknowledged in court papers that at least one of the memos in his dossier required verification. He is being sued over a Dec. 13 memo he wrote that accused a Russian tech executive of using his companies to hack DNC emails.”

  7. Ricky @6:42 Thanks, I guess I was confusing the whole budget with discretionary spending where the military portion is a much higher percentage. I am not that knowledgeable on the details of many of the parts and pieces of the national budget, however it does seem that we could arrange things to get a bigger bang for the bucks we spend.

One way to accomplish that is by slowly bringing more of the manufacturing back to the country, so that we are once again buying more American product and Americans have more money to spend on both domestic products and foreign—or to just save for the future. It seems to be a vicious cycle:when good or even just stable mediocre jobs are scarce, people need more help stabilizing their lives with just necessities like food, shelter, and basic health and education. The government wouldn’t have to provide these things to huge swaths of people if our economic system were not skewed.

PS I’m still reading Reagan…and your position appears to me more and more like Goldwater or Bush. Big difference there. :–)

  8. Debra, Goldwater and Bush were on complete opposite ends of the Republican spectrum in the 60s, 70s and 80s. Hopefully, the author understood that. Bush’s wealthy Northern supporters hated Goldwater. They liked George Romney, Scranton, Ford and Bush. I was with Goldwater and Reagan.

  9. Unlike you Ricky, I’m skeptical of some of the allegations against Moore, but by no means all of them. Especially when the soon to hopefully be disbarred Gloria Alred is involved. She gives lawyers a bad name.

But either way with Moore, I could care less. He ain’t my monkey, and the R controlled Congress ain’t my circus. I could care less if they lose a seat, they seem unable to use it anyway. But truth should still matter.

The rest of that comment is you being confused about which scandals are which, so I’ll leave you so you can get back to amusing yourself trolling on Twitter.

  10. Ricky, Olsen did not conflate Goldwater and Bush (at least he hasn’t so far); I did that. I’m not that familiar with Goldwater, but it does seem that he leaned more toward what we would now call libertarianism than Reagan ever did. At this point in the book, Olsen is doing a good bit of compare and contrast with Goldwater and Reagan—using their own words, speeches, and positions on the issues. I’m finding it a very interesting read.

  11. The differences between Reagan and Goldwater were largely differences of style and personality. The best speech ever made for Goldwater was made on TV by Reagan. He spoke from the heart and it made him a star.

  12. I’m sure Franken will be consistent and follow his advice to Trump and Moore and resign now that a 2nd woman has come forward with harassment claims. He wouldn’t want to be thought a hypocrite, right?

And I’m sure the press is gearing up to provide 24/7 coverage of this just like they did for Trump and Moore’s accusers. Yep. Any minute now…..

  13. It’s everywhere! Everyone is “grabbing”. We had regular Trump. Next came all the Hollywood Trumps. Then came Old Bush Trump and Southern Trump. Now we have Democrat Trump. This may be one way to get a massive turnover in Congress.
