Prayer Requests 10-21-17

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 71:1-8

In you, Lord, I have taken refuge;
    let me never be put to shame.
In your righteousness, rescue me and deliver me;
    turn your ear to me and save me.
Be my rock of refuge,
    to which I can always go;
give the command to save me,
    for you are my rock and my fortress.
Deliver me, my God, from the hand of the wicked,
    from the grasp of those who are evil and cruel.

For you have been my hope, Sovereign Lord,
    my confidence since my youth.
From birth I have relied on you;
    you brought me forth from my mother’s womb.
    I will ever praise you.
I have become a sign to many;
    you are my strong refuge.
My mouth is filled with your praise,
    declaring your splendor all day long.

  1. Flying and traveling today on not much sleep. See regular post.Emotions of returning home with a fast turn around for another event tomorrow–which also involves seeing/loving homeless friends after another week of reality. 😦

  2. Prayer for daughter as she continues to hang out at the psych hospital for youth. Within hours of leaving her there, they wanted her started on meds. And they called again with a request to put her on strong sleep meds. They had shown husband a long list of their preferred meds, mostly over the counter, but so far have not suggested any of those for her.

  3. Does she not sleep at night, Mumsee? Sometimes those with psychotic episodes seem to have their sleep-wake cycles severely messed up. I often wonder if the sleep deprivation is a symptom of or a contributing factor to the psychosis. It may be both, in a vicious circle.

    Speaking of not sleeping at night. I went to bed with a bit of a headache, which I trusted would pass with sleep. I woke up in the wee hours with a throbbing headache. When I tried to take medication to ease the pain, it just came all back up again. Finally got back to sleep and when I woke up, the headache was mostly gone, enough that I could go to church and play the organ prelude (it was my first attempt, so I really didn’t want to miss it). I hadn’t had one of those migraines bad enough to make me vomit in several years.

  4. My uncle, 82 years old and a widower for the past six years, is struggling with back and heart pain. He told my mom today that he just wants the Lord to take him home.

    My dad, 87, is not feeling well, either. For the past few years as I’ve seen his health decline, I have been trying to grapple with the possibility that he might not make it to his nineties like his parents did. I’m still wrestling with God about that, but feel like I’m losing some of my fighting spirit.

    I’d appreciate prayers for my dad and uncle, and would you pray for my mom, too? She’s emotionally stronger than she used to be, but it can’t be easy, seeing one’s husband in decline and also probably close to losing her only surviving sibling, too.

    Thanks.

  5. Those really sick migraines are the worst, mine only occurred monthly (but not every month necessarily) from the time I was in my 40s on, I think, then left after menopause. I have a young (29?) co-worker who gets bad migraines, we can tell because she’ll don her sunglasses in the newsroom. She will frequently ride home with me (we live close to each other) and leave her car in the garage overnight as the headaches become bad enough that she feels she shouldn’t drive. She tries holding out on taking the prescription medication but sometimes waits too long and then the headaches hit.

    But she said her brother, a musician, was in one of those trials for Botox for migraines. She said it worked well for him, no more headaches and “he looks great.”

  6. Roscuro,

    We have known she sleeps less. I ask her periodically to see if she is getting enough. Her bedtime is seven thirty and her get up time is seven. She generally says she goes to sleep about ten and wakes about six. When she has not been sleeping, she sometimes tells me and I give her evening primrose or some such and she thinks it helps. I try to see that all children have the opportunity for at least nine hours, but they are all different. I know sixteen year old boy gets up at night. I think he has a stolen/borrowed device he uses at night. Still trying to track that down. Found the cords this morning.
