Wandering Views 
I mentioned on Monday that I had to raise a point of concern on the weekend about Second Sibling and spouse’s plans for my parents. They hadn’t seen my point, though my parents did, but they had accepted my parents decision and things were moving forward in a modified fashion. Today, a more distant relative called my mother, all indignant about the treatment of Second Sibling and spouse and had some nasty things to say about myself and my motivations. That hurt, but I know this relative to have some emotional struggles. What disturbed me was that they then declared their intention of phoning Second Sibling – there is a lot of potential damage such a phone call could do, since my sibling is still sore that I found it necessary to object. I’m not perfect, but I am as sure as I can be that I was right to raise the point. I didn’t say everything right, but I did it out of love. Just pray that God will drain away the bitterness, and that all of us will be as God called us to be, kind, tenderhearted, forgiving one another. I depend greatly on my family for emotional support to get through school, a rift could leave me without that support.

SANTA ROSA, Calif. — A series of historically deadly Northern California wildfires regained momentum Wednesday as winds whipped back up, pushing blazes through parched hills and vineyards and prompting more evacuations from an arc of flames that has killed at least 17 people, destroyed more than 2,000 buildings and battered the region’s renowned wine-growing industry.
Fires advanced overnight toward populated areas in flame-battered Sonoma County, prompting officials to order a fresh round of mandatory evacuations — some of which were announced by deputies “running toward the fire, banging on doors, getting people out of their houses,” said Misti Harris, a Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.
“It’s rapidly changing, it’s moving quickly, it’s a very fluid situation. The fire is growing,” she said. …

Our skies are full of smoke today. The fires here are mostly under control. The winds are rising in Michelle’s area, but fairly calm here.

Thank you all for your prayers. I finally realized I should use my IPad to get on here. I can read on my phone, but it won’t post my comments.
My family is fine. We will know tomorrow if our houses are likely to remain standing. The winds are shifting in our favor and today the flights began dropping fire suppresant a mile from our oldest son’s house.
The Annabel State Park ridge fire that was so terrifying last night seems to be going east rather than west toward the house– which is two blocks from the western side of Annadel State Park.
(This house was ours for the first 12 years and has been easily sheltering 11 of us the last couple days.)
Is it only Wednesday? It feels like at least Friday.

Oh, we’re not home. When we received mandatory evacuation from our son’s house, we elected to come to a relative’s beach house.
We debated returning to our house (no electricity; considered too dangerous) or son #2 (all amenities but small) house. But both houses are within a few blocks of mandatory evacuation with only one route out with three fires at that point headed toward them.
This house is much more comfortable, and the kids think they’re on vacation.
We have much to be thankful for.
