Prayer Requests 9-21-17

It’s Thursday, so don’t forget to pray for Jo, her students, and the people of PNG.

Anyone else?

Psalm 41

Blessed are those who have regard for the weak;
    the Lord delivers them in times of trouble.
The Lord protects and preserves them—
    they are counted among the blessed in the land—
    he does not give them over to the desire of their foes.
The Lord sustains them on their sickbed
    and restores them from their bed of illness.

I said, “Have mercy on me, Lord;
    heal me, for I have sinned against you.”
My enemies say of me in malice,
    “When will he die and his name perish?”
When one of them comes to see me,
    he speaks falsely, while his heart gathers slander;
    then he goes out and spreads it around.

All my enemies whisper together against me;
    they imagine the worst for me, saying,
“A vile disease has afflicted him;
    he will never get up from the place where he lies.”
Even my close friend,
    someone I trusted,
one who shared my bread,
    has turned against me.

10 But may you have mercy on me, Lord;
    raise me up, that I may repay them.
11 I know that you are pleased with me,
    for my enemy does not triumph over me.
12 Because of my integrity you uphold me
    and set me in your presence forever.

13 Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel,
    from everlasting to everlasting.
Amen and Amen.

  1. Prayer for the rescuers to have wisdom on how to extract the children alive in the rubble in Mexico. Prayer for the children that they would know God through this time.

  2. Just posted this on Facebook a little while ago. . .

    [Hubby] has made great progress in recovering from the stroke. In fact, I think he has pretty much fully recovered, although being laid up in a hospital bed for three weeks has sapped his strength. (The first week was before the stroke even happened. The stroke occurred when he’d only been out of the first hospital less than 24 hours.)

    The more perplexing issue has been the blood in his urine, which recurred after they started him on Coumadin (a blood thinner). It seemed as if the doctors were not doing much about this, with day after day seeming to be “wait & see”. Now it looks like things may be moving along finally.

    If there is room in the vascular surgeon’s schedule, he will have a filter (IVC) put over the clot in his right leg tomorrow, & he will be taken off the Coumadin. This filter will keep the clot in place, so it does not break off & cause another stroke, & he won’t have to then stay on Coumadin.

    We are praying & hoping that the bleeding from his bladder will then stop. If not, they may have to find where the bleeding is originating from, & cauterize the area. (Please also pray that when they finally take the catheter out, he will be able to urinate on his own.)

    [Hubby] & I are just thankful that there is finally a plan in place, & hoping things move quickly from here on out. We so appreciate all the prayers, love, & encouragement that has been expressed. God bless!
