  1. 🙂 😦 I’m thankful for my life, but I don’t like being quite this busy.

🙂 Very successful and fun VBS. My husband (3rd grade teacher) had some very exciting conversations with his kids. God was glorified, they learned a lot about the Bible itself–and why it’s important.

🙂 6 year old Adorable birthday party today. She’s the middle one. It seems impossible it has been six years already, while at the same time it feels like she and her cousins have been around forever. Time and children fold over themselves way too much and fast!

🙂 The housecleaner (skit narrator) is finally coming now that VBS is done!

🙂 God is good and I am thankful this morning.

  2. 😦 Little Guy’s friends from next door moved away.

🙂 Mama Nightingale has lots of fun plans for him for the summer. And she bought him a Slip ‘n Slide which he is enjoying immensely. (Chickadee even gave it a few tries yesterday, & enjoyed it.)

  3. My grands have all loved the Slip ‘n Slides. One of my SILs bought poly in 60’ and used it with sprinklers and the hose to make a big long one. That was a big hit for a birthday party.

  4. 🙂 New bed

🙂 Sunny skies after 2 positively gloomy and wet weeks

😦 Carrots, beets and kohlrabi didn’t come up in the garden

😦 Beans are a little scraggly too.

🙂 The tomato, cucumber, pepper, cabbage, squash and pumpkin plant are all doing wonderfully.

  5. Mice ate all of the seeds this year. Every one. Neat little holes down the neat little rows. Especially beans and squash. One sunflower came up. Lots of tomatoes and peppers that went in as plants. Mice ate the bean plants we put out a few years ago so we tried something different. Back to the drawing board. I have caught five mice and a cat since putting out the mouse traps in the raised beds. Even though the beds were covered.

We use plastic sheet and hoses for slip and slide fun as well.

Eighteen year old took fifteen year old son to fly with him this morning. That ought to be interesting. Eighteen year old realizes that fifteen year old has not picked up the ball around here and knows he is off to college in a couple of months. Trying one last time to get fifteen to come around. I have given it five plus years and he is not willing. He has a bed and closet here and that is it. He is required to be home at a certain time and understands that any trouble with the law is all on him.

  6. 🙂 Ah, Slip ‘n Slide. Although I remember a local guy claiming HE actually invented it but the idea was stolen by the man who wound up getting all the credit. Great and simple summer fun, though, and a wonderful way to cool off for us kids who didn’t have swimming pools at our disposal.

  7. 🙂 Cleared out more boxes from above the spare room closet space, only 2 more to go. Not having fun, but good to chip away at it. I only wish it were going faster.

😦 Fireworks season is upon us. A car caught on fire in our neighborhood last early this morning, reportedly from kids setting off fireworks in the park.

🙂 Lemonade in a tall glass. Best thirst quencher after working up a sweat in the house & garage.

  8. DJ – Do you have some enjoyable music playing while you do those things? Having music playing, often singing along with it, helps me get through boring, difficult, &/or time-consuming chores.

  9. Well, I assumed they weren’t inside but I don’t really know. Just saw the burning car in flames photos this morning posted by a neighbor.

Kizzie, I’ve done that in the past, I’m forgetting to do it lately though. Oh, but I did find a couple cassette tapes in one of the old boxes. 🙂

  10. Was away for a couple of days due to a birthday party for Tiny Niece. A good time was had by all, and it was a very sweet sight to see seven little people (three cousins and three second cousins in addition to the birthday girl) crowded around a water play table, which Tiny Niece had received as a gift. The seven, ranging in age from five to just shy of one, were saturated and most of the remaining water found its way into the ground, but they thoroughly enjoyed themselves, which was the idea.

  11. Whew, that is a relief. I try to be polite but seldom reach the goal. At least I have remembered not to call you Miss ….. on here.

  12. Knowing Nightingale as I do, I’d guess that she probably did not pay full price for the Slip ‘n Slide. She’s one of those people who always seem to stumble upon really good deals. She shops at Marshall’s & TJ Maxx where she gets good quality stuff for much less than regular price, as well as at consignment shops.
