Prayer Requests 6-23-17

It’s Friday, so please remember to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the Nestlings.

Anyone else?

Psalm 111

Praise the Lord.

I will extol the Lord with all my heart
    in the council of the upright and in the assembly.

Great are the works of the Lord;
    they are pondered by all who delight in them.
Glorious and majestic are his deeds,
    and his righteousness endures forever.
He has caused his wonders to be remembered;
    the Lord is gracious and compassionate.
He provides food for those who fear him;
    he remembers his covenant forever.

He has shown his people the power of his works,
    giving them the lands of other nations.
The works of his hands are faithful and just;
    all his precepts are trustworthy.
They are established for ever and ever,
    enacted in faithfulness and uprightness.
He provided redemption for his people;
    he ordained his covenant forever—
    holy and awesome is his name.

10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
    all who follow his precepts have good understanding.
    To him belongs eternal praise.

  1. Need I say it? Wisdom. Thanks.
    Fifteen year old daughter appears fine today.
    Fifteen year old son quit his job yesterday, we let him know that giving notice matters and he will attempt to do that today.
    Eleven year old is loving his new bike.
    Nine year old is loving life.
    Eighteen year old is back to flying again and working and getting ready for the big jump of going off to college. He has found a rental and is hoping to get accepted as a tenant. He is planning to room with a guy from a nearby town also going to that college.
    Husband is headed for the North East again.
    I need to love my children with God’s love and patience.

  2. Carol finally was released from isolation when it was determined by a doctor on Wednesday that her skin infection had officially cleared up. Of course she immediately called and asked if I could come over on Saturday to “help her” return the 30 way-overdue library books she has.

    I told her no, my cousin and I have talked about possibly catching a movie tomorrow plus I really need to keep focused on the house project and Saturdays are my only full day potentially to work on that. So she asked if I could help her return them maybe 2-3 weeks from now? I don’t know, I told her honestly, mentioning again the priority of the house issues I’m still dealing with.

    So then I suggested on her next pay day (next week) that she makes sure to send in the $5 needed to get her replacement free/low-cost transportation card (her existing one has been lost for months now). If she can discipline herself to set aside a bit of money for a monthly transportation fund on top of that, she could even get door-to-door car rides ($5 each way) when needed. And it allows her to take the bus anywhere for free, unlimited trips. Without the card, she’s had to borrow bus fare from her former roommate.

    I’m praying that this period she’s been through — and my withdrawing somewhat my “ride” and errand services — will help her realize she needs to become more self-sufficient. It’s not up to me to make sure her library books are returned every month. (I also suggested, again, that from now on she borrow only e-books from the library so she won’t have to worry about physically returning them.) I do think the 3-4 weeks she spent without a cell phone and then the long isolation period was good for her. She seemed, at times anyway, to be more serious about taking a look at her spiritual state with regard to her financial priorities.

  3. And here’s the hymn sung. I included the lyrics in the above post because it’s hard to hear the words of the third verse in this video. (Harmony overpowering the melody, but still a nice tempo, instrumentation and vocal sound.)

  4. I think the rash I had was a false alarm. I may have been bitten by something working in the garage that morning? It was on my arm, so possible … I’m not sure, but I did go ahead and use the RX cream they gave me. No symptoms since (and the rash began to fade on its own a couple hours after I returned from the urgent care).

    I’d sent a photo of the rash to my RN friend (who’s also has had scabies, caught from a patient) and she said yes, that’s what it looks like it is.

    At any rate, no symptoms now, thankfully.
