Prayer Requests 4-14-17

It’s Friday, so please remember to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the Nestlings.

Anyone else?

Matthew 27:45-61

Jesus Dies on the Cross

45 Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land. 46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

47 Some of those who stood there, when they heard that, said, “This Man is calling for Elijah!” 48 Immediately one of them ran and took a sponge, filled it with sour wine and put it on a reed, and offered it to Him to drink.

49 The rest said, “Let Him alone; let us see if Elijah will come to save Him.”

50 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit.

51 Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, 52 and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; 53 and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many.

54 So when the centurion and those with him, who were guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they feared greatly, saying, “Truly this was the Son of God!”

55 And many women who followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering to Him, were there looking on from afar, 56 among whom were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee’s sons.

Jesus Buried in Joseph’s Tomb

57 Now when evening had come, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who himself had also become a disciple of Jesus. 58 This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be given to him. 59 When Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, 60 and laid it in his new tomb which he had hewn out of the rock; and he rolled a large stone against the door of the tomb, and departed. 61 And Mary Magdalene was there, and the other Mary, sitting opposite the tomb.

  3. Praying, too, for you and others on the blog, Kim. As mumsee said: There are no perfect parents or people for that matter. If it weren’t your divorce that could be blamed for BG’s ‘issues’ it would be something else. As Dave Ramsey says, “We all do stupid.” Or sin. That is why we hope we can use our experiences to help someone else not have to also live with the consequences. Sometimes that is true. Lots of times, they have to find their own way. Their experiences will teach them much. We just hate to see them make such bad choices and misery for themselves. God surely hates to see it in all His children.

I certainly made my share. Thank God for his grace!

  4. Husband is off to truck driving somewhere. He is quite apprehensive. He did not have a good drive last time and is thinking of stopping the great adventure, which would be fine with me. Prayer for wisdom and for safety.

  5. I have a story for you, to encourage you to listen for the Holy Spirit’s breath in surprising situations.

In February I spent too much time on an obscure piece of family history. When I finally logged off, I thought–something put into my head–“I’m a fine family historian if I know my granddaughter’s great-grandmother is ailing and I don’t make an effort to get them up to see her.”

I looked up flights and other info, and sent my daughter-in-law a message saying I’d pay for airfare if she wanted to take the girls at spring break.

She thanked me and said she’d talk to my son, who was working very long hours these days.

My son! I hadn’t thought to ask him first. So I sent a text, “Call me ASAP for an apology.”

He laughed when I apologized for messing with his family without discussing the idea with him. They did talk about it and my daughter-in-law accepted it as an early birthday gift.

The three females flew up to Oregon three weeks ago.

One Adorable’s first plane ride, they played in snow (in their CA rain boots), saw aunts, uncles, cousins, and their great-grandparents. A lovely, fun visit.

My daughter-in-law’s grandmother died this morning.

I’m so thankful I acted on the prompt and made the offer.

Keep listening for your own family.

  6. Lifting up BG, Chickadee, Lindsey, & 2nd Arrow (the one getting married), & God knows whoever else needs this prayer (like Nightingale, Little Guy, & Mr X, & other straying offspring).

Praying, with tears, for God’s mercy, grace, truth, & love to be poured into their lives. For open eyes & ears, for softened hearts & quickened spirits.
