Prayer Requests 3-22-17

It’s Wednesday, so don’t forget to pray for The Gambia, and for Ajisuun as well.

Anyone else?

Psalm 20

May the Lord answer you when you are in distress;
may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.
May he send you help from the sanctuary
and grant you support from Zion.
May he remember all your sacrifices
    and accept your burnt offerings.
May he give you the desire of your heart
and make all your plans succeed.
May we shout for joy over your victory
and lift up our banners in the name of our God.

May the Lord grant all your requests.

Now this I know:
The Lord gives victory to his anointed.
He answers him from his heavenly sanctuary
with the victorious power of his right hand.
Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.
They are brought to their knees and fall,
but we rise up and stand firm.
Lord, give victory to the king!
    Answer us when we call!

  1. Thanks for the prayers for Lindsey. She ended up going to school around 11:00 yesterday…. but didn’t feel very good. Pediatrician wrote a note to school excusing her from all quizzes and tests, and advised complete cognitive rest–but said she could attend school. Seems contradictory advice to me—I’m waiting on a call back from her neurologist–front office staff told me doctor had no appointments until May…..

  2. Prayers for a friend that I worked with a few years ago. Her 12 year old daughter Kimberly (one of 3 daughters) died suddenly the other day. They’ve completed an autopsy and said it was a pulmonary embolism. She had a genetic disorder of some kind but I did not think it affected her heart. Anyway, no one was expecting it. The mom and dad are devastated. Prayers are appreciated.

  3. Kaitlyn has worsened this morning. Please pray.
Our friend Sherri is heading down to see her today and is worried that she will just be crying the whole time and she won’t be strong and encouraging to her. Please pray that Sherri will be given God’s strength and peace today.

  4. Oh, such heartache, Debra and Kare. Prayers for Kimberly’s family, and for Kaitlyn and her family and Sherri.

Ann, I’m sorry Lindsey wasn’t feeling well yesterday. How is she doing today? I agree with you, that sounds contradictory — going to school while on complete cognitive rest. Is she only exempt from quizzes and tests, or is she also free to skip regular assignments, too? Prayers for wisdom for medical and school officials, and that she can get in to see a neurologist before May.

  5. Shocking email from my brother just now. My SIL (his wife) and nieces (their two daughters) are traveling, and I didn’t know that until this just appeared in my inbox:

    Subject line: London Attacks

Just to let everyone know [T] and the girls are fine. They were only a few blocks away from the attacks when they happened today. They had been on the Westminster Bridge a few hours before the guy mowed those people down with his SUV. So relieved to hear they were okay after I heard about it from mom.

    [R]

God be praised. Trembling, but relieved.

  6. Ann, even watching television or reading can be too much for a brain healing from concussion.

Deb, that is so sad. Pulmonary embolism isn’t always due to heart problems, and sometimes, they never do know quite why the clots developed. My father got pulmonary emboli from a compound fracture, where the fat in the bone marrow got into the bloodstream – he survived, thankfully, but anything that gets into the bloodstream and is big enough to block major vessels in the lungs may cause pulmonary embolism.

  7. I should give an update on the running prayer requests I’ve posted on here in the past weeks:
For the young teen girl who was kicked by a horse, she is doing well – her mother reported on FB that the neurosurgeon is amazed by her progress.

For the couple who stayed with my parents, the husband is still in my parent’s guest room and goes to visit his wife in the nursing home every day. Since that first incident with the horrible PSW, nothing else like that has happened, though the wife reports that she has noticed other residents seem to go silent when that particular PSW enters a room. Otherwise, she is settling in very well and being taken good care of.

  8. We have heard from T, my SIL. They are safely at their hotel. The timeline of where they were when in the hours leading up to the attack gives me pause. Tour of Westminster Abbey in the morning. 12:15 lunch at a pub just feet from Westminster Bridge. 1:20 on the bridge taking pictures. 2:40 attack on the bridge while SIL and nieces were in the National Gallery.

My older niece sent 4th Arrow some snapchats to her tablet, which we didn’t see until after my brother had emailed. They were standing outside some building, and you can hear sirens in the background. In a later snapchat, Niece spoke of how surreal it was to hear those sirens in the previous snapchat and realize belatedly what was going on. When they were walking from the National Gallery toward Buckingham Palace, they had no idea the reason for all the ambulances, police (even on horseback) and circling helicopters.

They ducked into a shop, heard on the store radio what was going on, then decided to hurry the few blocks back to their hotel.

Your prayers for their safety there, and for their return trips (SIL and younger niece on March 26, older niece on March 29 after spending a few days visiting a friend in Oslo) are greatly appreciated by all of us. Thank you.

  9. It’s a long walk from the National Gallery (at Trafalgar Square) to Buckingham Palace and they’re a distance from the bridge (which is probably a mile or more south of Buckingham Palace).

  10. Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the many ways You are keeping people from even worse tragedies. We never know moment to moment what may happen. Just as that massive storm with damaging winds entered my vicinity last night without me fully expecting the intensity of it, so others mentioned here have been encountering different types of unexpected storms. Please comfort the brokenhearted. Please give greater faith to those who have been spared terrible tragedy in 6 Arrows family. I pray for those who are caught up in sharing pain and hurt to have the proper words or silence. I pray You will lead each person and/or family group through their challenges in ways that make Your care evident. Please help people to have realization that the invisible spiritual realm has power to overrule the tangible physical realm because of Jesus. Help all to call on him and trust in His help. Please bring peace where there is anxiety. Please help BIG to heal physically and emotionally. I pray Elvira will quickly respond in a positive way to her treatment. Please help Kevin B. to be well and healthy as he goes toward his surgery date. I pray for Mumsee to focus on the positives of moving and not dwell on any sense of loss. Lift up Kizzie’s family members who need to become seriously acquainted with Jesus. May something new in their lives prod them into relationship with You through Jesus. Please help Michelle to quickly get back into her exercise routine without much pain. Pleasehelp all here who are having health issues such as Knells. I ask for things to go smoothly at the office and for work to not get backed up. Also, I ask that Wesley will do well on his upcoming presentation. Lord, there is so much more to ask about, to intercede on, but let me not fail to thank You for the many ways You are working things out for those mentioned and for others on my heart. I praise You knowing You are the One True God no matter what people say or hope to the contrary. You are the One Whom we worship and adore. In Jesus, Amen
