Prayer Requests 3-6-17

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 5:1-8

Listen to my words, Lord,
    consider my lament.
Hear my cry for help,
    my King and my God,
    for to you I pray.

In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice;
    in the morning I lay my requests before you
    and wait expectantly.
For you are not a God who is pleased with wickedness;
    with you, evil people are not welcome.
The arrogant cannot stand
    in your presence.
You hate all who do wrong;
    you destroy those who tell lies.
The bloodthirsty and deceitful
    you, Lord, detest.
But I, by your great love,
    can come into your house;
in reverence I bow down
    toward your holy temple.

Lead me, Lord, in your righteousness
    because of my enemies—
    make your way straight before me.

  1. I logged on this morning to the following e-mail.

    “Charlie, Nine years ago I had, as you may know melanoma cancer of the right heel, and I have had in addition neuropathy of the legs ! I had surgery and the surgeon grafted skin onto my right heel to help it heal, but I had to stay in bed for a period of time so it could heal because one’s heel is your transportation of feet. More recently I had scans and an MRI and the results are that I now have 4th stage melanoma cancer of the the lungs and one lymph node in the right inguinal area. A trip to Duke Medical Centers confirmed this as a second opinion and recommended I take the OPDIVO treatment with an Oncologist here in Wilmington This Tuesday morning at 9:30 which shows some promise of helping to fight this type of cancer. So far the Immunotherapy will be every two to three weeks for about three months and then check it again for progress.

    Ex President Jimmy Carter used similar treatments more recently and he has declared he is free of cancer so goes the news Media. So Charlie, I hope you and your church will remember me in prayer. Of course Byrdie is on oxygen 7/24 so our daughter in law will stay with her during my time with this treatment while our older son,Jim accompanies me with this treatment. This treatment take about an hour at the facility for such treatment. They give it intravenously !!

    I know you have a daily struggle with all that you have going on now, but maybe a small prayer by you and your family and friends may be the key to what I face. Thanks a million and they are doing things unimaginable compared to what they did in the past.

    I’ll explain Vernon later. I have to go to breakfast now. Remember Vernon, please.

  2. On re-reading this, I notice that the treatment is for tomorrow. I initially thought it was 40 minutes from now.
    I had scanned it too quickly.
    Vernon is a month younger than I am.

  3. Praying for Vernon this day…may he sense the presence of our Lord about him as he travels this path…and trust that He has all well in His Hand….thanks for giving us this gift of being able to pray for your friend Chas…. ❤

  4. Prayers for Vernon.

    I would appreciate prayers for my SIL. He had an accident on his fishing vessel and it seems the vessel will not be able to be used anymore. Thank the Lord that he and his crew were all able to board a life raft and are ok. Their jobs will not be what they expected and need, however.

    Please pray for the jobs they will all need. Please pray for my SIL, who is probably out of the work he has done since high school. This comes at the same time that his oldest son is graduating and making that transition in life. It also takes away the family’s main income. It will be a blow for all. My daughter has held onto her job, just for this possibility Nevertheless, it will be a big change and struggle right now.

    My other SIL also is in need of a full time position with some security. He has taught full time for the last two years. The woman he has replaced has had over two years now to decide whether or not she will return. This leaves my SIL hanging. He has looked elsewhere, but needs to stay where he has some benefits for his family. He is the one with these and they are extremely important to the family right now. He does not have tenure, since he taught for many years in a charter school and his last several years in a couple of different schools.

    God teaches us through these types of situations, so pray that all these people will learn the lessons He is teaching them. Pray they will grow spiritually and in their relationship with Him and each other.

  5. He didn’t own the boat, Cheryl. I would think there was, however, that does not guarantee the owners will decide to get another, nor would they be likely to hire him nor that another boat would do so. (at least that is what he thinks) It is complicated, as is the licensing.

    Thanks for the prayers. It is so nice to be able to know there are others who will pray with you.

  6. Cheryl, my SIL is feeling better about the situation. The owner was not as upset as SIL expected. He said that is why he carries insurance. Other skippers have shared there own experiences doing the same thing.

    It will be 30 years in June of my SIL working in this field. I am sure it was quite a blow to his pride to have done this. None of us like to be reminded about how human we are. Plus, the others rely on him and it can be a big responsibility.
