Prayer Requests 2-17-17

It’s Friday, so please remember to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the Nestlings.

Anyone else?

Psalm 140

Rescue me, Lord, from evildoers;
    protect me from the violent,
who devise evil plans in their hearts
    and stir up war every day.
They make their tongues as sharp as a serpent’s;
    the poison of vipers is on their lips.

Keep me safe, Lord, from the hands of the wicked;
    protect me from the violent,
    who devise ways to trip my feet.
The arrogant have hidden a snare for me;
    they have spread out the cords of their net
    and have set traps for me along my path.

I say to the Lord, “You are my God.”
    Hear, Lord, my cry for mercy.
Sovereign Lord, my strong deliverer,
    you shield my head in the day of battle.
Do not grant the wicked their desires, Lord;
    do not let their plans succeed.

Those who surround me proudly rear their heads;
    may the mischief of their lips engulf them.
10 May burning coals fall on them;
    may they be thrown into the fire,
    into miry pits, never to rise.
11 May slanderers not be established in the land;
    may disaster hunt down the violent.

12 I know that the Lord secures justice for the poor
    and upholds the cause of the needy.
13 Surely the righteous will praise your name,
    and the upright will live in your presence.

  1. Surprisingly gorgeous weather today, thanks for prayers!

    Looks like the dam may have been spared by the weather yesterday.

    Now, can you get my daughter home for the weekend on a flimsy propeller plane flying out of LA– and it’s gigantic storm– this morning around 10:30?

    It’s raining here in Berkeley.

  2. Prayer for Kbells and crew.

    Prayer for husband as he is off to New Jersey. How is the weather that way? And for us as we deal without him here. Thanks.

  3. DJ–Did you ask for a generic for the eye drops? Sometimes they do give those, but won’t if you don’t ask. Both my husband I have to use drops. I am hit with both dry eye and allergy eye problems. The drops are so necessary and thank God we can get them.

  4. Again, not important, but prayer would be appreciated. . .

    Neither Hubby nor I had time to deal with hooking up the new dvd recorder yesterday, as he worked 14 hours, & I babysat for 11 hours, & we were both very tired at the end of the day.

    So today I am going to take a look at it. (I’ve never done this before.) Part of the complication is that there are different connections among the TV, the recorder, & the stupid cable box, & it all looks very complicated & confusing. (We went several years with the cable able to go straight into the TV, but our provider began requiring “mini boxes” last year.)

  5. Kathaleena, yes, I’ve asked and even researched online for a generic but there is none (and won’t be until 2024 for some reason I don’t understand!). The best they can do is combine several other drops together but that also is expensive so I doubt it would make much difference. But I’ve asked my eye doctor about this in the past as these drops generally are rather expensive (but no where near what they are now for me now that our insurance plan changed — ouch!).

  6. I was going to say what mumsee did — if not Little Guy, find another kid on the block. 🙂 Worse case scenario, call your provider, seems like they should give you a service call (though they usually don’t do those much anymore — I have used the live chat for tech support before, though, and they’ll take you through the steps so that might be worth a try).

    I hate some of this technology, I’m not really good at the TV stuff either. I don’t have a DVD player (but I do have a ‘free’ DVR for recording as part of the cable service, though I never use it).

  7. My drops also are for dry eye (Restasis, which is advertised heavily) and I even asked my eye doctor about going off them during one of my visits; he said they’re actually working well for me (though I may not be aware of it) and I guess they are since I have no scratchy eye issues anymore (it’s why I had to give up wearing contact lenses a few years ago).

  8. Oh, I wish it were that easy, Mumsee.

    There are so many different kinds of holes to plug so many different kinds of cables into, & then you need to know which connect what to what. There is the TV, the dvd recorder, & the cable box that all need to somehow be connected to each other in just the right way.

    I think I may have figured it out, but I can’t get one connecting thingie to connect to where I think it is supposed to go. When Hubby (who usually does these things) gets home, he’ll see if he can connect it. Or maybe it doesn’t even go there after all.

    If all else fails, we will call our cable company for help. When our new mini box wasn’t working correctly, they sent someone to fix it & connect it.

  9. Looks like the problem may be that we need a different kind of connector than the one we have. Hubby is gonna get the right connector tomorrow, & we’ll see how that works.
