It’s Friday, so please remember to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the Nestlings.
Anyone else?
Psalm 133
1 How good and pleasant it is
when God’s people live together in unity!
2 It is like precious oil poured on the head,
running down on the beard,
running down on Aaron’s beard,
down on the collar of his robe.
3 It is as if the dew of Hermon
were falling on Mount Zion.
For there the Lord bestows his blessing,
even life forevermore.
Update on the girl who was kicked by a horse. The surgeons were able to remove the bone splinters and relieve the pressure on the brain. She was conscious yesterday, and while she couldn’t speak, she could squeeze her left hand in answer to questions – the blow was to the left side of her head, so the right side of her body is affected. She has a long journey to recovery, but the doctors are hopeful.

How are things in the Gambia?
Prayer for Jo.

Feeling better and so thankful I slept deeply last night. I was worried about even rolling on my left side out of bed because of pain, but it was manageable. Thanks for prayers. I did purchase Aleve for the first time to help with pain. It’s time for one.
Today’s prayer is that not only the rib or two would heal well but, perhaps more importantly, that my attitude would improve. Yesterday wasn’t a good day in the attitude department. 😦

Thank you all for your prayers—they were needed. Dad did very well speaking at the funeral, and was able to talk with Widow more at length after the service. I think he is more satisfied about my cousin’s faith at the time of his death.
The memorial was held outside at the family’s lodge, and the weather was beautiful. The whole affair turned out to be quite a production: full military honors (he was a Vietnam vet), 21 gun salute, taps, and bagpipes as well. I’m glad Dad did not know in advance because he would have been more nervous, but the public was also invited, and there were lots of cameras.
It was also quite religious with 2 ministers and a priest, in spite of Sister of the deceased warning Dad not to go in that direction. I later realized there is still much friction between Sister and Widow. It’s all kissy-kissy in public, but behind closed doors there’s more venom than I can easily tolerate. Drama abounds—and that, unfortunately, is nothing new here.
But people grieve in different ways. The men-folk were very subdued with sadness, especially Son, Son-in-Law, and Grandson. A man of honor was lost to them, and they seemed to feel the loss keenly. And all the more so because if Herb had not checked the house first, Grandson would have been the one to die; it was his house that exploded.
On the lighter side, Widow laughed and feigned outrage when it was discovered that Herb died packing 3 concealed pistols—a shoulder holster, waist holster and ankle holster. Apparently they had a running disagreement about how many weapons he needed to carry on a regular basis. She said 2 was enough, and though he agreed to carry only 2 pistols to mollify her, when he was found he was wearing 3. They recovered all 3; one was melted almost beyond recognition, and the other 2 were damaged but intact. They also recovered the scorched but intact triangle-folded American flag of another deceased relative who was a veteran. Not surprising that there were enough guns (concealed and not) at the funeral to arm a private police department.

Michelle, my attitude didn’t improve much yesterday either but I sulked in silence. Hopefully today is bett

Remember EYG (Evelyn)? She posted on Facebook that she has the Noro virus. Let’s pray she recovers quickly.
For those who may not know, she has two beautiful little granddaughters, her daughter’s babies.

Mine is better already! “This is the Lord’s doing and it is marvellous in my eyes!” (Today’s psalm).
Things are improved because I spent a lot of time considering my actions yesterday and confessing the sin. Sigh. But it feels wonderful to be forgiven, as always. 🙂

Prayers for Designer Girl would be appreciated. She is fine, but has some more challenges to face. Also, please pray that her husband would get a more permanent (one yr. at a time for his last two school years) job with benefits.

Also, if you can spare a moment or two, I have a dinner date tonight with siblings and my mom. These are very stressful for me. I love them all, but we have different world views than most. Makes it a challenge in itself.

The sun was shining today. It was somewhat warmer. I had to go to the beach to take photos. I put the top down on the way home. Sunshine make me happy(er)

I love “having” to go to the beach for a story. 🙂
I’m running into conflicts with helping out Carol tomorrow, bathroom worker wants to come at 9 a.m. so I said yes — that needs to get the finishing touches done at long last. I told Carol we’ll have to put tomorrow sort of on hold for the time being. She also wanted me to take her to a Best Buy where she made an appt with the Geek Squad to get her used iPad set up and registered for her use but after I thought about it I realized that Geek Squad services are never free. Looks like they charge $40 for a set up like that, so I’m not sure if Carol just assumed I’d pay once they handed us a bill or what. Maybe she didn’t realize they’d charge. At any rate, I suggested she try the alternative of using Apple’s free phone tech support service instead.

We “had” to go to the beach for a lot of field trips on Okinawa.

Thanks all for the prayer. Our family dinner went quite well. Not one bit of fighting. Amazing.

Carol says she called Geek Squad/Best Buy, told them she was disabled & on social security and they told her they wouldn’t charge her anything.
Anyway, she pushed the appointment back to 2 p.m. but I made it clear to her tonight that it’ll all depend on how the work day goes tomorrow. I think she understood and accepted that.
