My friend L came through surgery just fine yesterday and is home. She is still on a PICC and doing transfusions.
Another friend had a hysterectomy the week before Christmas. She is back in the hospital (I think for the second time since the surgery) with MRSA staph. Scary indeed.
Well, the new president of The Gambia was sworn in at the embassy in Senegal. Now we wait for action from the ECOWAS troops. Word is that Gambian troops will not resist, but may in fact join with the coalition troops. I was hearing this week’s ago, that the army was supporting the head of state, but would stop that support when his term ended. The rest of the missionary team is hunkering down, 3 single ladies in our village and a couple in the urban area. We believe both locations will be outside of any conflict area.

So, am I understanding this aright? The man that was elected was sworn in in Senegal, because the other fellow refuses to step down? and then troops will decide what happens next?
Prayers for a young lad in my class as I feel that he is depressed and missing life in his home country. Not much emotion on his face or in his actions.
Doctor is changing my treatment. Tumor markers went up when they were expected to go down.
The Kid is late calling us to pick him up from practice. Not answering phone.(not uncommon, coach only allows phones when they’re done) Hubby went over to the school to see what’s up.

Update…
After I went out on a service call this morning, I had a long talk with the boss, which wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. Turns out the service call was a test, unbeknownst to me. I was able to complete the task and solve a couple problems which satisfied the customer. AND I did the job with no ill effects on my body.
He expressed his longstanding concern about my limitations (I have neuropathy in my feet, almost certainly caused by some weird back problem) and my refusal to do a certain task several months ago. It explained a lot. I was able to alleviate that concern, and address a few others.
He even asked me if I had enough work to do, which was a perfect opportunity for me to ask him to give me one or two small design jobs each month just to keep my hand in. And he said that he’d need me to help the other guys even more since one of our other engineers left just before Christmas.
I was also cleared to continue IT work, which I had begun to wonder if I was supposed to do…
The boss also expressed his awareness that he saw my job as mainly a problem solver, and that he was leary about having me out of the shop for any length of time. I was gratified to know that he was that aware of my contributions in that area. Hardly a day goes by without someone calling me over to solve some problem they’re having with the program, or a computer, or a machine.
While all that didn’t result in a raise, it did clear the air, and I feel more positive about the job than I have in a long long time.
Oh, and been praying for Mumsee and Co. Jo’s rambunctious talking boy, and The Gambia, and somebody’s friend who had to go to Australia for health concerns.
And now Kbells. Sorry to hear about your health concerns. Is that the dreaded “C” word?
Make it Man, overall that really sounds excellent. You’re a valuable contributor to the team in a whole lot of ways, and you and your boss understand where the other is coming from. Wonderful!
So good to hear, MiM, I was hoping/praying that the talk would go well.
Turns out it was a false alarm for my friend. Her baby is doing well, but it’s not labour yet. This friend was diagnosed with Stage IVB lymphoma when she was 18 and was successfully treated but we have concerns over her delivery and recovery. Please pray that all goes well when the time does come.
