Prayer Requests 12-27-16

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 91:1-13

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
    will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
    my God, in whom I trust.”

Surely he will save you
    from the fowler’s snare
    and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers,
    and under his wings you will find refuge;
    his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night,
    nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
    nor the plague that destroys at midday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
    ten thousand at your right hand,
    but it will not come near you.
You will only observe with your eyes
    and see the punishment of the wicked.

If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
    and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you,
    no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
    to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
    so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
    you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

  1. This psalm brings back fond memories from early in our homeschooling years when 1st and 2nd Arrows and I memorized it. (And also from the NIV, as printed above, except for a couple small changes, since we used the 1984 version.) We learned it in late winter/early spring of 1999, when the oldest two were just about to turn 9 and 6. I remember the delight on their faces, and the triumphant sound of their voices (and mine!) when, after plugging away at it, little by little, for many weeks, we came to the end of the psalm, reciting the whole thing by memory. I love that psalm!

    There are 16 verses. Here are verses 14-16 as we memorized them:

    “Because he loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him;
    I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

    He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.

    With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation.”

  2. A friend called, the one who was burned out the other day. Seems he was driving somewhere and is stuck. Looks like husband and two sons will be going to go dig him out. Prayers for safety and wisdom as they attempt to help. Thanks. Sounds like it is about three miles from here.

  3. I have some wonderful news! Grandbaby Andy has just been released to go home!!!! Son said Andy was taking a ‘car seat test’ to see if he could sit up for 20 minutes without it affecting his blood pressure negatively. Apparently he passed it because he’s going home now!

    I also received a short video today from inside the NICU in Nevada. Grandbaby Abigail was opening her eyes and trying to focus, and moving her mouth like she wanted to talk! They have taken her off of the breathing machine and she’s breathing well on her own. They are encouraged by this. However, son and DIL are making funeral arrangements tomorrow for Abby’s sister who did not survive. They are taking that loss hard and need continued prayer.

    I’m very thankful for God’s mercy and kindness, and for all of you who pray. Thank you.
