Prayer Requests 12-3-16

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 64

Hear me, my God, as I voice my complaint;
    protect my life from the threat of the enemy.

Hide me from the conspiracy of the wicked,
    from the plots of evildoers.
They sharpen their tongues like swords
    and aim cruel words like deadly arrows.
They shoot from ambush at the innocent;
    they shoot suddenly, without fear.

They encourage each other in evil plans,
    they talk about hiding their snares;
    they say, “Who will see it?”
They plot injustice and say,
    “We have devised a perfect plan!”
    Surely the human mind and heart are cunning.

But God will shoot them with his arrows;
    they will suddenly be struck down.
He will turn their own tongues against them
    and bring them to ruin;
    all who see them will shake their heads in scorn.
All people will fear;
    they will proclaim the works of God
    and ponder what he has done.

10 The righteous will rejoice in the Lord
    and take refuge in him;
    all the upright in heart will glory in him!

  1. My aunt was transported to Birmingham last night. She is now #2 on the liver transplant list. This comes with the knowledge that some else’s heartache will be our gain.
    I reminded Mr. P last night that I am a donor. The little heart is on my driver’s license. Most of the time I forget it’s there.

    My uncle is 79. He will be driving up today to be with her. DD is not going right now. She wants to save her time off to be with her mother after the surgery. I am sure she will go when she can anyway.

  2. First snow of the year. 1st Arrow is on a bus trip to a pro football game today. He left around 4:00 this morning. Prayers for safe travels for him and his companions. Thanks.

  3. Pat Cronin died suddenly last night. Pat was pastor of Friendly Avenue BC in Greensboro. He had been to Nashville, Tn, for some medical procedure and he, with his wife, was driving home from the airport. They were driving along a heavily wooded road, but it happened that he suddenly ran into an open field. They were out of cell phone coverage, so didn’t get 911 immediately and when rescue got there he was dead. Heart.
    This is especially difficult (if that is possible) for his wife because she had, just a week or so ago, lost her mother.
    It was a difficult day in church this morning because it was so sudden. Pastor dies late Saturday night.
    But, surprisingly, there seemed to be Spiritual blessings. We’ll see. Lots ahead for this church now.
    Brenda especially needs our prayers. The church, of course, will do all we can. but our best may not be enough. He had no prior heart problems. This was sudden. He just died.

  4. Update on the facts. Brenda couldn’t reach 911, but she could reach Linda (My DIL. they are about the same age and are friends.). Linda called 911 and went over to help. She stayed with Brenda under her children arrived a few moments ago.
    Brenda is having a hard time, as you can imagine.

    On a better note. We are going over to see Tolliver in abut an hour.

  5. Weeping with Brenda and her children, praying with you for their comfort, rejoicing with the angels. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His godly ones. Ps 116:15.

  6. Please pray for . . .peace? reconciliation? forgiveness?

    This morning Pastor Billy let something slip that clued in a few of the older children (as in not little but not teens yet) that there is no Santa Claus. After church, there were tears, & some upset parents. Please pray they find it in their hearts to forgive him, & won’t hold it against him.

  7. Well, I guess they feel he should have realized that what he said would be heard by the kids, & ruin their belief in Santa. A couple of the girls were really upset, & crying (after church).

    We didn’t “do” Santa – we treated him like a cartoon character, not a real person – but it seems a lot of Christians do.

  8. My main concern is that none of these parents (I think there were three families involved) let this fester, & decide to look for another church. People leave churches these days for the slimmest of reasons.

  9. 1st Arrow got home a bit ago. Gone a long time today — about 18 hours — and it snowed the whole time. Glad he doesn’t have to work tomorrow, otherwise he’d still have a 3-hour drive ahead of him tonight to get back to his apartment, when he’s been up since 3-something this morning. He’ll stay here overnight and go back tomorrow.

    Thank you for your prayers for his safety.
