  1. More on Hillary’s influence peddling while supposedly running the State Dept.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3753735/Clinton-Foundation-bombarded-Hillary-s-aide-calls-Secretary-State-phone-records-reveal.html

“Hillary Clinton’s chief of staff Cheryl Mills’s received nearly 150 phone messages from Clinton Foundation’s operations director Laura Graham during a two year span at the State Department, according to phone logs – a significantly higher number of calls than from any other individual during that time frame.

The phone logs, which were obtained by Fox News and cited by reporter James Rosen during the State Department press briefing on Monday, raise fresh questions about the close contact between the Clinton Foundation and Clinton’s State Department office during her tenure.”

“Mills was working as Clinton’s chief of staff at the State Department at the time. Clinton had signed an ethics agreement with the Obama administration before taking office that was intended to create a firewall between her office and her family’s foundation, which received millions in donations from foreign and corporate donors.

The incoming phone messages to Mills were logged into spreadsheets by Mills’s assistant. Rosen said Fox News obtained 180 pages of these logs through a public records request, and found that Graham ‘left the greatest number of messages for Mills by an exponential order.'”

  2. And as always with the Clinton’s, the story keeps changing. I’m sure they’re just editing, to protect the guilty.

    http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/chaffetz-fbis-notes-from-clinton-interview-keep-changing/article/2599855

“The FBI has handed Congress two copies of notes from its interview with Hillary Clinton about her private email server, but according to the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, the two sets of notes aren’t consistent with each other.

“The … thing that is stunning to me, which I found out last night, is the FBI gave us one set of documents. Then we asked them, and they … gave us a second copy in a classified setting. But they’re different,” said committee Chairman Rep. Jason Chaffetz in a Monday morning interview on MSNBC.

The Utah Republican said he had no explanation, and that he would have to seek one from the FBI. “We have a second set of documents that’s now different. You turn them page by page, and they’re different. I don’t know why that happens,” Chaffetz added.

Chaffetz said there was “new information” in the second set of documents, which has left the committee confused.

“So we’re going back to square one. We’ve only had them for days, but still, the second copy is different from the first copy. Why is that?” he asked.”

  3. It looks like the biggest liars in the Lochte Olympic fiasco are actually the police, not that many seem to care.

“You heard it all weekend: “Four American swimmers trashed a Rio bathroom in a drunken rage and then lied to investigators about an armed robbery to cover-up their story.”

It’s become conventional wisdom from network anchors trying to paint a rosy picture on a troubled Olympics to journalists who embrace the narrative of “ugly Americans” taking advantage of the downtrodden, third world Brazilians.

There’s only one problem with this narrative: It appears it’s completely false.

USA Today has done a thorough and extensive investigation of the security videos from the gas station in question and they’ve done something Matt Lauer and Bob Costas sure haven’t done. They interviewed the actual witnesses who were there the night of the incident. Their report today paints a very different picture of the media narrative Americans have been fed since Friday morning:

But a narrative of the night’s events – constructed by USA TODAY Sports from witness statements, official investigations, surveillance videos and media reports – supports Lochte’s later account in which he said he thought the swimmers were being robbed when they were approached at a gas station by armed men who flashed badges, pointed guns at them and demanded money.

Where I come from (Detroit) when someone points a weapon at you and will not let you leave until you give them money, it’s called “armed robbery.” Yes, even in Detroit. Now maybe the standard for “armed robbery” is different in Brazil. You know, like the standard for “handling classified materials in a negligent way” has a shifting standard depending on whether you’re running for president and whether the Attorney General is a member of your political party.

But, armed robbery should be one of those crimes that transcends language and culture.”

If his bad behavior keeps Los Angeles from getting the 2024 Olympics, he will have prevented thousands from being exposed to the toxic culture of the US, which will no doubt have deteriorated further by that time.

  6. Oh look, Clinton isn’t the only Democrat running a corrupt, influence peddling foundation out of their taxpayer funded office.

    http://dailycaller.com/2016/08/22/follow-the-money-trail-the-dnc-may-have-sold-access-to-elected-officials/?utm_campaign=atdailycaller&utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=Social

“Now that the media and public have taken advantage of the opportunity to review the more than 20,000 leaked Democratic National Committee (DNC) emails, a few (if any) surprises surfaced in the correspondence. While the embarrassment in confirming what was already suspected about the DNC’s political activities led to resignations of top officials, it is puzzling that few have focused on following the much more intriguing money trail. There are many interesting pieces to puzzle in the current batch of emails that should at least raise suspicions, and likely investigations into possible illegal activity.

Following the money trail may actually show that the activities by DNC staff, supporters, and federal officials were more than just embarrassing, but also violations of Federal Election Commission (FEC) regulations. While I may not be the best advocate for FEC regulations, (having won a Supreme Court case against the agency) we must keep the system fair for all Americans especially challengers and outsiders who do not have the inherent advantages that incumbents do. The government, itself, should not support certain candidates and then limit the contributions of outside people.”

“However, some of the leaked DNC emails suggest that federal officials on this Administrations’ payroll were using their office to sell access to elected officials and policymakers – something much worse than trying to sway primary voters to a favored candidate. What has been missing from the media coverage of these leaked emails is serious scrutiny of the far-too-cozy relationships they show between the DNC fundraisers and the president’s staff (paid for by taxpayer dollars), with links the Obama Foundation.

Taxpayers should not be on the hook to pay for the perks used by fundraisers to line their candidates and party committee’s pockets, nor for the future aspirations of political leaders. However it looks like we have been. Emails indicate a correlation between the money coming into the Democratic Party and access to the President and resulting patronage. Government officials may have even played a role in coordinating meetings with donors to the DNC to ask for additional support for the Obama’s Foundation (or its future activities.)

Political campaign donations are normally disclosed – but large donations to the Obama Foundation (or Clinton Foundation for that matter) have the possibility of directly influencing – potentially corruptly – a candidate or officer holder in their official duties official decisions – but without any disclosures. Our government is once again becoming a mechanism to enrich elected officials – a pattern of public corruption – entirely outside the transparent campaign finance regime – we’d hoped had long since faded.”

  7. Sobering thoughts Michelle.
For any of you who don’t know. DO NOT donate to the American Red Cross to help the people in Louisiana. They are throwing out food and other donated items because they are not coming from “contracted” providers. Large churches and restaurants have been feeding hungry people but when the Red Cross arrives they are told they can’t do that. Donations of clothes have been thrown out.
Donate through your church, Samaritan’s Purse or some other trusted source. One of the agents I work with is originally from that area. She set up a GoFundMe page contact me and I will give you her information to donate if you don’t have another way but PLEASE do not give anything to the Red Cross for Louisiana.

First I would like to say. I enjoyed reading this Article. Your insight was correct. The people rescued themselves! Seems the governments not too happy about it and there were not more deaths!

. Now let me address the rest of you people.

First FEMA was not there from day one! It took them almost five days.
Second let me tell you a few things about the Red Cross and what they are and have been doing.

People are reporting all over about what they are doing! They are forcing those with pets to choose to release their pets or leave the shelters along with much more.

Its all about money and control. There has been people told by the Red Cross, that if they accept outside donations, they have to leave the shelters. It is ridiculous when they come in and trash donated food, baby care supplies, baby food, medical supplies, etc all because they are not in a contract with red cross.

    This I a a nurses story below:

So as we are headed back home from the River Center in Baton Rouge volunteering our nursing services Dawn and I have come to the conclusion that neither of us WILL EVER volunteer or donate to the RED CROSS. The Red Cross basically takes over the shelters and starts refusing clothes, donations and various volunteer services UNLESS they are previously contracted. So what does that mean….well, 60 boxes of doughnuts were discarded this morning becuase the delivery vendor was not in contract, hot meals were refused becuase the entity providing wasn’t contracted, and medical supplies including medications were trashed for same reason. Clothes that were “donated” needed to be left on the street unless they were “furnished” by Red Cross. As of tomorrow, the shelter we were at will be completely over taken by the Red Cross other than the medical area because they couldnt have the actual room since LSU has a contract with state to provide medical care. Its sad when the military police were helping to “protect” the medical areas from the red cross when there are so many other issues at hand. Anyway, next time to want to donate or volunteer your services, do your homework. Feel free to share!

    Here is another ones story

My mind was blown last night. I watched red cross attempt to throw away thousands of dollars worth of perfectly good clothes, formula, diapers, and medicine at a shelter in baton rouge then refuse to give donated food to the people of the shelter. There was enough food donated to feed everyone there including volunteers, guard, and police. They would not give it out but did not hesitate to eat it themselves. The red cross is absolutely despicable. Do not donate to red cross, give to local churches so they can distribute in their comunities.

    AND

    My cousin stated

the Red Cross! When they come in to a public shelter they take over !
all donations ! This means food products in un open case ( like pop tarts canned meat etc), bottles of water, cleaning supplies and clothing are trashed outside on the ground if donations sit longer than 12 hours at the shelter! How can diapers ,bottle water and clothing go bad?
At one of the shelters they refused from a company trays of fried chicken to feed every one and did not feed those people till 10 pm when they ordered in food. These people had not eaten since lunch!
The real volunteers manage to get everything before they threw it out that was organized and called up church’s asking for them to come get all the supplies and they manage to give those at the shelter stuff to hid under their cots.

So don’t tell me how good or wonderful our government response teams are. Citizens did a better job rescuing, churches and private people did a better job setting up shelters and tending to those in need 12 days before any person even realized we had a flood or how bad it truly is! 85 miles wide of flooding!!

  9. It’s nice to see that Congress can still manage a little bi-partisanship on some issues. They need to do something here. Price gouging when it comes to medicine, is an especially low blow. When the product has been on the market for decades, and it only costs a few dollars to produce, then it shouldn’t cost a patient $600 bucks. Time to reign them in.

    http://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/the-price-of-an-epipen-has-skyrocketed-more-than-500percent-since-2009-%E2%80%94-and-people-are-losing-patience/ar-BBvV5Aw?li=BBnb7Kz&ocid=U142DHP

“About a year ago, Martin Shkreli’s Turing Pharmaceuticals bought a drug and then hiked up its price by 5,000%, raising awareness about how the cost of a drug can skyrocket virtually overnight, especially when it doesn’t face much generic competition.”

“In 2007, when drugmaker Mylan bought the autoinjecting device, which contains epinephrine (otherwise known as adrenaline), the list price was $57. Now, a two-pack EpiPen will set you back more than $600 without insurance, according to prescription drug price comparison website GoodRx. Since 2009, when the price was $100 for a two-pack, the price has gone up about 500% (though the price varies between pharmacies).

The price increases have helped transform the EpiPen into a billion-dollar business, despite being a decades-old product.”

  10. Kim,

The Red Cross, as you’d expect, are denying the nurses allegations. They say the donuts were eaten by staff because they’re not permitted to serve them.

    http://www.nola.com/weather/index.ssf/2016/08/red_cross_denies_throwing_out.html

“A widely shared Facebook post on Saturday that accused a Baton Rouge shelter of refusing food and throwing out medical supplies was based on inaccurate information, according to several relief groups affiliated with the shelter.

Beth Yancey Houghton, who said she volunteered as a nurse at the River Center, published a Facebook post accusing the Red Cross of taking over the facility and “refusing clothes, donations and various volunteer services UNLESS they are previously contracted.” Houghton wrote that 60 boxes of donuts were “discarded,” hot meals were “refused,” and medical supplies were “trashed” because the delivery vendor was not contracted with the Red Cross.”

“Catherine Heitman, a spokeswoman for the Department of Children and Family Services, denied the Red Cross or River Center workers had thrown away donated food, including the 60 boxes of donuts. She said the donuts were preserved in sealable bags and eaten by members of the shelter’s mostly volunteer staff. Heitman guessed the boxes Houghton saw in the trash were empty.”

“”If food donations don’t come from a verified source, the health department may say: It’s okay for workers and volunteers to consume it, but our guidance is not to share with shelter residents,” Heitman said. “It’s the same guidance they give schools. This is a population that’s in our care.”

As for the clothing, Heitman said the River Center does not have the manpower to sift through and sort mounds of donated clothes. Instead, they are directing people to churches and nonprofits that are currently accepting use clothing.

Dr. Parham Jaberi, Assistant State Health Officer at LDH, said a similar policy applies for donated medical supplies. Because the shelter’s clinical team consists of federal, state and local entities — namely the U.S. Public Health Services, LDH and Capital Area Human Services – they already have a cache of medical supplies on hand.

Jaberi added that members of the center’s medical staff had thrown away only donated supplies that had been opened or partly used.”

“A federal judge has barred the Ferguson-Florissant School District from conducting school board elections, ruling that the current political process is stacked against African-American voters.

U.S. District Judge Rodney W. Sippel said that while he does not see evidence of intentional discrimination, there is a more subtle “complex interaction” of political processes that deter black voters from electing the candidates of their choice.

“Rather, it is my finding that the cumulative effects of historical discrimination, current political practices, and the socioeconomic conditions present in the District impact the ability of African-Americans in (the school system) to participate equally in Board elections,” the judge concluded in a 119-page ruling issued Monday.

The Ferguson-Florissant district serves about 11,200 students in parts of 11 municipalities. About 80 percent of those students are black, and 12 percent are white. District residents are nearly evenly split between black and white.

The ruling states that the election system is in violation of the federal Voting Rights Act of 1965.”

    http://dailycaller.com/2016/08/22/journal-transgenderism-not-supported-by-scientific-evidence/

“Although popular culture and many of the leading media organizations have bought wholeheartedly into the idea that gender identity is something distinct from one’s biological sex — that a man could be born in a woman’s body or vice versa — such beliefs have no grounding in any credible scientific evidence, according to a report published Monday in the journal The New Atlantis.

Arizona State University professor of statistics and biostatistics Lawrence S. Mayer and John Hopkins University Medical School professor of psychiatrics Paul McHugh co-authored the report, which examined top peer-reviewed studies in the biological, psychological, and social sciences.

“Examining research from the biological, psychological, and social sciences, this report shows that some of the most frequently heard claims about sexuality and gender are not supported by scientific evidence,” they noted.

Among the key findings listed by the authors was that, “The hypothesis that gender identity is an innate, fixed property of human beings that is independent of biological sex — that a person might be ‘a man trapped in a woman’s body’ or ‘a woman trapped in a man’s body’ — is not supported by scientific evidence.””

““Children are a special case when addressing transgender issues. Only a minority of children who experience cross-gender identification will continue to do so into adolescence or adulthood,” the authors continued.”
    —————–

So parents pushing hormone therapy and the like are abusing their children.

  14. ““There is little scientific evidence for the therapeutic value of interventions that delay puberty or modify the secondary sex characteristics of adolescents, although some children may have improved psychological well-being if they are encouraged and supported in their cross-gender identification. There is no evidence that all children who express gender-atypical thoughts or behavior should be encouraged to become transgender.”

“An area of particular concern involves medical interventions for gender-nonconforming youth. They are increasingly receiving therapies that affirm their felt genders, and even hormone treatments or surgical modifications at young ages,” they added later.

“But the majority of children who identify as a gender that does not conform to their biological sex will no longer do so by the time they reach adulthood. We are disturbed and alarmed by the severity and irreversibility of some interventions being publicly discussed and employed for children.””

  21. Hmm…do I agree with an other of AJ’s links, maybe but not quite.

Gender identity is an issue. For some its completely physical born with indeterminate or ambiguous genitalia, for others gender confusion does last into adult hood. Its a confusing issue — try reading a few articles on the IOC trying to come up with gender tests for female athletes.

However, the article is correct in that we should not extend an adult health issue into childhood. Children’s health, gender identity, sexuality, etc need to be addressed differently than with post-pubescent adults. Children are sponges absorbing information everywhere and then they use their not yet full developed to sort the info into categories, labels, patters, etc. And they will change their patterns, categories, etc as they absorb more information. Adults have to wait until dust settles i.e. post puberty, before thinking their little Johnny is actually a Jane.

From what I understand, she worked well as a senator — anecdotally upstate New Yorkers (mostly white suburban Republican types) never had any bad comments and were mostly happy and surprised in her work. As for her time as Secy’ of State, she’s done fairly well. Although the right e.g. Cheney like to criticize her performance, neutral observers — academics, diplomats, etc have been fairly positive.

If you’re not convinced in her competence (and I have my questions too), at least take comfort in the fact she’s never declared bankruptcy. Essentially, she’s more competent than the alternative. American — you had months to decide on two candidates and this is what you narrow it down to.

  25. HRW,

    Worked well as a Senator?

    Bwahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!

    That’s funny.

    Here’s a little known fact for you HRW. Clinton’s legislative accomplishments are non-existent. She was a Senator from 2001 thru 2009. 3 of her bills is all she had passed in that time. They were;

    S. 1241: A bill to establish the Kate Mullany National Historic Site in the State of New York. Bush signed the bill Dec. 3, 2004.

    S. 3613: A bill to name a post office the “Major George Quomo Post Office Building.” Bush signed the bill Oct. 6, 2006.

    S. 3145: A bill to designate a highway in New York as the Timothy J. Russert highway. Bush signed the bill July 23, 2008.

That’s it. While she leeched onto other people bills more often, the extent of her accomplishments are minimal, and that’s probably being way to kind. She was a useless placeholder who did nothing but tow her party’s line, when she wasn’t financially benefiting herself, which wasn’t often.

And I didn’t narrow it down to these two, so don’t blame me. 🙂

As for her time at the State Dept…..

She should be in prison for corruption and exploiting her position for personal gain. Like this…

    http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/many-donors-to-clinton-foundation-met-with-her-at-state/ar-BBvY9wF?li=BBnb7Kz&ocid=U142DHP

“More than half the people outside the government who met with Hillary Clinton while she was secretary of state gave money — either personally or through companies or groups — to the Clinton Foundation. It’s an extraordinary proportion indicating her possible ethics challenges if elected president.

At least 85 of 154 people from private interests who met or had phone conversations scheduled with Clinton while she led the State Department donated to her family charity or pledged commitments to its international programs, according to a review of State Department calendars released so far to The Associated Press. Combined, the 85 donors contributed as much as $156 million. At least 40 donated more than $100,000 each, and 20 gave more than $1 million.

Donors who were granted time with Clinton included an internationally known economist who asked for her help as the Bangladesh government pressured him to resign from a nonprofit bank he ran; a Wall Street executive who sought Clinton’s help with a visa problem and Estee Lauder executives who were listed as meeting with Clinton while her department worked with the firm’s corporate charity to counter gender-based violence in South Africa.

The meetings between the Democratic presidential nominee and foundation donors do not appear to violate legal agreements Clinton and former president Bill Clinton signed before she joined the State Department in 2009. But the frequency of the overlaps shows the intermingling of access and donations, and fuels perceptions that giving the foundation money was a price of admission for face time with Clinton. Her calendars and emails released as recently as this week describe scores of contacts she and her top aides had with foundation donors.

The AP’s findings represent the first systematic effort to calculate the scope of the intersecting interests of Clinton foundation donors and people who met personally with Clinton or spoke to her by phone about their needs.

The 154 did not include U.S. federal employees or foreign government representatives. Clinton met with representatives of at least 16 foreign governments that donated as much as $170 million to the Clinton charity, but they were not included in AP’s calculations because such meetings would presumably have been part of her diplomatic duties.”

  26. Its interesting. During the primary detractors of Sanders claimed all he did in the Senate is rename a post office. But in reality and Clinton admitted this, Sanders worked hard in committee and was often successful in attaching amendments etc that change the direction of many bills. Likewise I’m sure Clinton did the same. As I said, my experience is with upstate New Yorkers (mostly Republican leaning) who were really impressed with the work she did on children’s health issues especially exceptional children and newborn screening.

I will always admit she is corrupt although I think the extent has been exaggerated. However, the work she has done as Secy of State has garnered mostly positive reviews from academics and other diplomats.

Meanwhile, Trump simply let companies go bankrupt, leaving contractors and employees unpaid and ran a semi-successful reality show. Not much too show for a guy who was given a “small” million dollar loan from his bad. In terms of competence its not a contest, Clinton is far more competent.
