Fourth Arrow has her cardiology appointment/echocardiogram this afternoon. Please pray that we’ll get clear answers about what’s going on; for wisdom for the medical practitioners to ask the right questions; for me to recall important information about her symptoms so far; for competent staff so that my limited medical knowledge is not a handicap to my daughter; and for anything else you can think of that would be pertinent to pray for. Having a child with possible cardiac issues is completely beyond the realm of my experience, and I have a hard time remembering new details I can’t hang on a hook of prior knowledge.
I don’t have anyone else I can take with me to the appointment, either, to be a second set of ears. Daughter is overwhelmed by it all, and couldn’t remember a lot of what we found out Thursday night at Urgent Care, though she is quite sharp intellectually.
Thank you again so much for your prayers as we navigate new waters.
Wisdom for me to think of the right questions to ask, too. I don’t always think well on my feet, especially when new and/or unexpected information is given me. I get home and think, why didn’t I ask that, and feel like an idiot, having to call back repeatedly as I think of new stuff that was never clarified.
Can you tell I’m nervous today? Sheesh. Prayers that I can just relax and go with the flow.
And I don’t mean to sound like my feeling like an idiot would keep me from trying to acquire important information for my children. My feelings about myself don’t come before my love for my children.
Test was clear. No cardiac issues. Heart structure is good, praise God! Thank you for praying.
Still unanswered questions about the headache she’s had for five days, which of course could be due to a lot of different things.
Blowing off a little steam now: I asked a lot of questions, wanting to make sure I was understanding as best I could. I think I offended the doctor with one of my questions about the EKG from Thursday, though, because she got a little snippy sounding, saying rather curtly, “There are people who have studied these tests for years.”
What. ever. I guess lay people aren’t supposed to ask questions about what we see on a printout, and how it would look if it were normal/conclusive, or whatever ticked her off.
Also, she admitted she knew little about Lyme’s Disease, but expressed very strong opinions contrary to what other people, whom I believe to be much more knowledgeable on the disease, hold. I didn’t say anything like that, but calmly explained some of our family history with Lyme’s, and, in particular, 4th Arrow’s history with it. She wouldn’t order a Lyme’s test, however, even though I asked and gave a pretty detailed explanation why we wanted her tested.
It is my husband’s and my conviction that this daughter needs to get Lyme’s testing, which could provide an explanation for her as yet unexplained head and neck and other issues. So we’re taking her to a different clinic tomorrow, where my husband has been seen before, and has had good experiences, in the hopes that they will test for Lyme’s. (We know they do two different kinds of Lyme’s testing, and they are very accommodating of patient’s requests, in my husband’s experience.)
I’d appreciate more prayers for daughter, that we can get more answers for her continued pain, and that she will find relief.
And do praise God that her heart is OK! We are so grateful for that piece of good news!
Sorry to dominate the thread. I started getting a headache while at the clinic, and it’s getting worse as the hours wear on.
Maybe to teach me patience and compassion for my daughter, who’s endured her headache (albeit mild, in her description) and other aches and pains for almost a week now?
Prayers that I can get some good sleep (it hurts to lie down) so that I won’t be tired when I drive her to her appointment tomorrow morning.

Write everything down. Don’t be afraid to ask them to repeat important info.

But I’ll bet you all guessed that, anyway.
Time to go…

Understood, 6 Arrows. They can throw a lot of confusing information at us while we are already feeling overwhelmed & anxious.
