Prayer Requests 7-11-16

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 80

¹Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; thou that dwellest between the cherubims, shine forth.

Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh stir up thy strength, and come and save us.

Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

O Lord God of hosts, how long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people?

Thou feedest them with the bread of tears; and givest them tears to drink in great measure.

Thou makest us a strife unto our neighbours: and our enemies laugh among themselves.

Turn us again, O God of hosts, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

Thou hast brought a vine out of Egypt: thou hast cast out the heathen, and planted it.

Thou preparedst room before it, and didst cause it to take deep root, and it filled the land.

10 The hills were covered with the shadow of it, and the boughs thereof were like the goodly cedars.

11 She sent out her boughs unto the sea, and her branches unto the river.

12 Why hast thou then broken down her hedges, so that all they which pass by the way do pluck her?

13 The boar out of the wood doth waste it, and the wild beast of the field doth devour it.

14 Return, we beseech thee, O God of hosts: look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine;

15 And the vineyard which thy right hand hath planted, and the branch that thou madest strong for thyself.

16 It is burned with fire, it is cut down: they perish at the rebuke of thy countenance.

17 Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou madest strong for thyself.

18 So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.

19 Turn us again, O Lord God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

  1. Pray that my roof replacement goes smoothly, that there are no unforeseen problems, that all my ceiling plaster holds and isn’t shaken loose by the commotion and that my animals don’t flip out too badly as I’ll be at work for most of the day. This will probably go on most of the week, so early mornings for me and general disruption … I don’t like disruption. 🙂

  2. Oh, I understand, Donna. We had some renovations done on the outside of the house several years ago, & I was so glad when it was all over.

Please pray for my Little Guy. The events of last Wednesday night were quite traumatic for him. First, he probably overheard his dad on the phone (while he was still with him) threatening to get full custody & cut 1st Daughter out of their lives, which would have horrified him.

Then he witnessed his mother being attacked, & her life threatened, by his own father (whom he loves, but now thinks of as a bad man).

He has been “acting out” a bit with us since then, & went back to wetting the bed. Praying that the counselor 1st Dtr finds for him (& possibly for herself) will be a godly & wise person. Most of all, praying this traumatic event finally draws 1st Dtr & Little Guy into God’s arms.

  3. Tammy’s cat may have been sighted, across from her house. They tried to call to him, but the feral white cat who lives in the area, & thinks it is all his own territory, scared him away.

Please pray for them to know how to deal with the feral cat, & to get their own kitty home. (Although the tuxedo cat they saw across the street may not be their Tibby.)

  4. Thanks, Kim. I’ll have her look into that. I may be wrong, but I think she can get a counselor through this domestic abuse center for free or for a sliding scale. We also have Family Services in town that does that kind of thing, too.

  5. Hang in there, Donna. (And pass that along from me to your pets, too.) 🙂

Praying, Karen. Is older daughter still keeping a record of all this, as I think you mentioned in the past? Seems to me that latest incident must be pushing Little Guy’s father significantly closer to grounds that his parental rights could be terminated.

I have a mishmash of prayer requests and follow-ups to previous requests.

My mom and dad both saw their primary care physician this morning. Mom’s ruptured eardrum has healed well, and the (temporary) hearing loss she sustained has been restored. Her antibiotics are finished, and she doesn’t need to use ear drops anymore, either, and doesn’t need any more follow-up visits.

Dad had diarrhea one day last week (Mom had a bit of stomach upset around that time, too, so she thinks they may have had some sort of virus), but it only lasted one day, thankfully. Dad is still weakened from it, though, and dealing with costochondritis (same as my 15-year-old daughter, ironically — I’d never heard of it until this month, and now they both have it). Dad’s BP was extremely low today at the clinic : 80/40, and his doctor prescribed something to help bring it up, and will follow up with him on Friday, and likely longer.

Fourth Arrow (15yo mentioned above) is having some trouble yet with her costochondritis, which isn’t unexpected as it can take a long time to fully heal. She’s been diligent in doing her exercises, but it’s been hard on her emotionally, dealing with the healing process, as she’s not accustomed to that, having been healthy for basically her whole life. She missed church again yesterday, second week in a row, because she felt weak and had difficulty mustering up the energy to speak.

Might be some social issues playing into this, too.

Sixth Arrow (8-year-old daughter) developed a fever yesterday afternoon, and still has it today. She’s mostly lying around.

Thank you for your past and future prayers on these health issues.

Now for one praise: I posted a prayer request last Monday, I think, on the previous weekend’s prayer thread. I’m not sure how many saw it (I know Karen & Janice did, for sure), but it was about my difficulty coping with things as any given week wears on, especially if I have missed worship at church the previous Sunday. I was already starting to feel uneasy/panicked/whatever you would call it last Monday, and knew I would still have 6 days to go before I’d get to church again. I requested prayer along those lines — that things not deteriorate, cause me apprehension, etc. — for last week.

I am very pleased to report that God gave me peace in the midst of my circumstances last week, and brought much blessing out of it. He is faithful, and I thank you for your faithfulness in prayer on my behalf.

  6. 6 Arrows – Since he was arrested, this is all in the public record now. The charge of child endangerment, which is a felony, will certainly not help him in any future custody agreements.

As for his rights being terminated, or 1st Dtr getting full custody, it takes a whole lot for either of those to be granted. You’d think what he did would be considered bad enough, but may not be. At least for the next several months, she essentially has full custody since there is a protective order against R, for both 1st Dtr & Little Guy.

Of course, we have no idea if he will take a plea deal, or choose to go to trial, & if he goes to trial, if he would be found guilty. Praying justice will be done. (And still praying for God to bring him to repentance & salvation.)

  7. I don’t know if I am recalling correctly, but it seems to me that 1st Dtr said that child endangerment can not be plead down. ???

Another thing that goes along with the charge is that he will be investigated by DCF. I hope he gets the same lady that investigated us when he made those ridiculous accusations against us four years ago.

  8. Tomorrow morning we will leave at the crack o’ dawn for Mr. P to have the pain management stimulator inserted into his spine. We pray for him, the doctors, and for ME. I am so thankful and hopeful this will be the solution he needs.

  9. My friend who is on vacation with her family said she has a really bad sore throat. Please pray she will not have any extra illness on top of all she regularly suffers with while they are on vacation. Thank you.
