  1. You mean the Obama admin is lying again?

    I’m shocked…. 🙄

“They were among the nation’s top priorities for deportation, criminals who were supposed to be sent back to their home countries. But instead they were released, one by one, in secret across the United States. Federal officials said that many of the criminals posed little threat to the public, but did little to verify whether that was true.

    It wasn’t.

A Globe review of 323 criminals released in New England from 2008 to 2012 found that as many as 30 percent committed new offenses, including rape, attempted murder, and child molestation — a rate that is markedly higher than Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials have suggested to Congress in the past.

The names of these criminals have never before been made public and are coming to light now only because the Globe sued the federal government for the list of criminals immigration authorities returned to neighborhoods across the country. A judge ordered the names released in 2013, and the Globe then undertook the work that the federal government didn’t, scouring court records to find out how many released criminals reoffended.

The Globe has also published, in conjunction with this story, a searchable database of the thousands of names that were disclosed to the news organization, so that crime victims, law enforcement officials, and managers of sex offender registries — who are often unaware of these releases — can find out if the criminals may still be in the United States.”

  2. And the Obama admin is rewarding them with the release of 150 billion in seized assets, so they can continue their “work.”

    Nice.

    http://www.cnn.com/2016/06/02/politics/state-department-report-terrorism/index.html

“The State Department on Thursday released its annual report on global terrorist activity, listing Iran as the top state sponsor of terrorism and labeling ISIS “the greatest threat globally.”

The report also includes statistics on terrorist activity worldwide, and said 11,774 terrorist attacks in 92 countries occurred in 2015.

The department’s acting coordinator for counterterrorism, Justin Siberell, briefed reporters Thursday on the report’s content, saying the document was used to assess the effectiveness of the effort to combat terrorism and to determine where to best place resources.

On Iran, the report said that country “remained the foremost state sponsor of terrorism in 2015, providing a range of support, including financial, training, and equipment, to groups around the world.”

The report also said that Iran was continuing to provide arms and cash to terrorist groups like Hezbollah and Iraqi Shia terrorist groups, including Kata’ib Hizballah (KH). Both groups are designated Foreign Terrorist Organizations in the report.”

  3. Ricky, as an avid reader of history, I read a blog written by a Christian professor of American history. He is, as you would say, a Yankee, but he has been doing a series, analyzing the current political situation using the words of past American statesmen. I thought you might find it interesting:

  4. Thanks for posting, Roscuro. Very interesting articles.

Some of my fellow Sourherners would say the young Lincoln was warning against what the older Lincoln became. However, I tend to give Lincoln the benefit of the doubt. I don’t think he or King George III acted out of excess ambition. I believe each was placed in a position where each used extraordinary measures to suppress the revolutions/rebellions conducted by our (not your) ancestors.

Clearly there are others (Huey Long, Mussolini, Santa Anna, Peron, Hitler, et al.) who are megalomaniacs who use/try to use a nation’s disgust with the government to acquire and use dictatorial powers. Trump’s language and behavior closely resembles members of that group. Hillary, though not prone to inane and ridiculous outbursts, also is a person of a very foul character and great ambition. And so we have our dilemma.

  5. This would be great news….. if it were true.

    http://www.stripes.com/news/us/obama-va-is-healing-1.413357

“President Barack Obama adamantly opposes privatizing the Department of Veterans Affairs to improve the level of health care veterans receive.

“The notion of dismantling the VA system would be a mistake,” Obama told The Gazette on Thursday after he shook the hands of 812 new Air Force officers – all of whom will someday be veterans. He said his administration has made steady progress in modernizing the VA and providing veterans with more timely health care. Reinventing the system would derail that progress.

“If you look at, for example, VA health care, there have been challenges getting people into the system. Once they are in, they are extremely satisfied and the quality of care is very high,” Obama said during an interview he granted only to The Gazette in a locker room at Falcon Stadium after the Air Force Academy graduation.”

“It has been almost two years since the Senate confirmed Obama’s chosen replacement, Robert McDonald, former CEO of Procter & Gamble. “I think Secretary McDonald has done a terrific job,” the president said. “Since there’s only eight months left in my administration, he’s got all the way until then to run through the tape.”

McDonald drew ire late last month for likening wait times for access to medical treatment to lines at Disneyland. “When you go to Disney, do they measure the number of hours you wait in line? Or what’s important?” McDonald said. “What’s important is, what’s your satisfaction with the experience?”

That errant comment aside, McDonald has worked to change the culture at the VA and significantly reduce wait times for veterans seeking health care.”

Well he needs to work harder because they’re still failing to do their job in a timely manner, and veterans’ health is suffering because of it. In fact it’s actually gotten worse.

    http://freebeacon.com/issues/half-million-vets-waiting-over-30-days-for-va-care/

“The number of veterans waiting more than 30 days for care at Department of Veterans Affairs medical facilities has climbed past half a million.

The most recent data on pending appointments released by the VA last week shows that nearly 506,000 veterans currently seeking care at agency medical centers have waited more than a month for appointments, an increase of more than 10,000 in just two weeks and 23,000 in one month.

The new numbers, which survey pending appointments as of May 15, cast light on the agency’s continuing struggle to reduce waits and offer timely care to the nation’s veterans.

The VA aimed to schedule veterans’ appointments in 14 days or less before it was revealed in 2014 that staffers were keeping secret lists to conceal long waits for care. Since then, the agency has relaxed its target to 30 days.”

  6. I’ve decided to start my own fake university. We will try to get it accredited so students can pay me hundreds of thousands of dollars from federal student loans instead of just maxing out their credit cards. We won’t be offering majors such as Gender Studies, How to be a Real Estate Con Man or Sociology. Our majors will include Southern Studies, Chivalry, and Plantation Management.

  8. Clinton got the delegates she needs today. Right after that, Obama endorse her. Really going out on a limb on that endorsement 🙂 They really don’t like each other much.

  9. Donna,

Looks like those rumors were true. They got to the delegate count needed by counting the supers as well. And why not wait until tomorrow, once Cali. is decided? Now I’m actually rooting for Sanders. 🙂

“Striding into history, Hillary Clinton will become the first woman to top the presidential ticket of a major U.S. political party, capturing commitments Monday from the number of delegates needed to win the Democratic nomination.

Clinton’s rise to presumptive nominee arrived nearly eight years to the day after she conceded her first White House campaign to Barack Obama. Back then, she famously noted her inability to “shatter that highest, hardest glass ceiling.”

Campaigning this time as the loyal successor to the nation’s first black president, Clinton held off a surprisingly strong challenge from Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders. He mobilized millions with a fervently liberal message and his insurgent candidacy revealed a deep level of national frustration with politics-as-usual, even among Democrats who have controlled the White House since 2009.

Clinton, the former secretary of state, New York senator and first lady, reached the 2,383 delegates needed to become the presumptive Democratic nominee on Monday with a decisive weekend victory in Puerto Rico and a burst of last-minute support from superdelegates. Those are party officials and officeholders, many of them eager to wrap up the primary amid preference polls showing her in a tightening race with presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump.”

  10. She’s got the delegates, even if Sanders California (which I suspect he will). But this is one of those crazy years and I can’t help but think that the Democratic party bosses are wringing their hands at this point. She’s got so many negatives that seem to only be getting more noticeable.

I don’t think she’ll be indicted — but even without that, she’s a problematic nominee for them.

Of course, we have one of our own, so there you go.

Someone on FB said she hoped a meteor would strike soon, to take us all out of our misery.
