Prayer Requests 6-4-16

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 49:1-15

¹Hear this, all ye people; give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world:

Both low and high, rich and poor, together.

My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.

I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp.

Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my heels shall compass me about?

They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;

None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:

(For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:)

That he should still live for ever, and not see corruption.

10 For he seeth that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others.

11 Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names.

12 Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish.

13 This their way is their folly: yet their posterity approve their sayings. Selah.

14 Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling.

15 But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah.

  1. A troubling quandry has come up that I cannot discuss with my husband–or anyone else. I’ve said what I believe the Holy Spirit would have me say to my friend. Please pray for wisdom for this godly woman and the others who are making a strategic decision that could alter everything.

Wow, that sounds dramatic–but it is, for the Kingdom of God.

These women desire to do God’s will, but this situation is very complicated and challenging for one, in particular, to pull apart and assess well.

So, wisdom and discernment and an ability to set aside the heart tug for what is right and true before God.

    Enough. Thank you.

  2. Baby Anya was released from the hospital on Thursday. She’s walking, active, moving around and her new liver is function.

Thanks be to God and from her parents for all who prayed.

They’ll be up here in the Bay Area another month while docs monitor the little girl and then can go home to LA.

    They are so very grateful.

And Anya? Looks as bright eyed and cheerful as any tiny toddler should. Really. Thanks be to God.

  3. Prayers requested for an older couple in our church. Wife (E) has been in cognitive decline for at least a couple of years now, and currently resides at a memory-care center in our area. E has recently undergone extreme personality changes and has become very verbally abusive to her husband (T), to the point where he has great difficulty getting himself to even go visit her. He has stopped picking her up to bring her to church, a heartbreaking decision for him. Please pray for both T & E. Thank you.

This, of course, motivates me to pray more fervently for our Chas and Elvera, that, if it be God’s will, they be spared from decline that goes in that direction. Such an unimaginable hardship for the spouse on the receiving end of verbal assaults, and can any of us know what it feels like to be the one who unwillingly descends into such a state?

Where would we be without God’s tender mercies and grace?

  4. My husband’s great-grandmother was put in a mental hospital due to “senility”. While there, she forgot her husband, but fell in love with the priest.

I think something similar happened with Sandra Day O’Connor’s husband.

    Very sad.

  5. Please pray for healing for my left foot. Something feels a bit off, & a little painful at times, depending on how I step on it. It’s not go-to-the-doctor bad, though, & I’d like to avoid that if possible. Thanks.

  6. Prayers and amens for all above.

Please pray for the niece (and her family) of our newest pastor. The young woman (K) was diagnosed with cancer late last month. She is 15 years old, and her mother just died of cancer 7 months ago.

    Thank you.

  7. It was sad, but it went well.

We may be in Hendersonville next Sunday. But we aren’t going back To FBCHNC. You only say “good by” once.
We may not go Wednesday night. We’ll see.

  8. Daughter made the visit and then spent the next hour or so crying. She still has a long drive home. It was good. He is determined, this time, to remain faithful to his words of wanting to stay in contact. That seems to change every time he gets out of prison and back into trouble. Pray that his commitment to Christ will be real and he will do what he needs to not fall into the old ways. Pray for daughter to stay focused on the One Who can help her dad and not let him manipulate her. She is very gullible.
