  1. Well the numbers for May are in, and the Obama admin continues to exclude for the most part the most persecuted peoples fleeing Syria.

    http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/patrick-goodenough/1037-syrian-refugees-admitted-may-two-christians-1035-muslims

“The number of Syrian refugees admitted into the United States jumped to 1,037 during May – an increase of 130 percent over the previous month – but the proportion of Christians among them remains miniscule: two Christians (0.19 percent) compared to 1,035 Muslims.

May’s figure of 1,037 Syrian refugees brings the total number since the beginning of 2016 to 2,099 – compared to 2,192 for the whole of 2015, according to State Department Refugee Processing Center data.

Earlier years since the Syrian civil war began saw much smaller numbers arriving – 20 in 2011 (dated from mid-March); 41 in 2012; 45 in 2013; and 249 in 2014.

Of the 2,099 Syrian refugees admitted so far this year, six (0.28 percent) are Christians, 2,043 (97.3 percent) are Sunni Muslims. The remaining 50 are 17 (0.8 percent) Shi’a, 30 (1.4 percent) other Muslims and 10 (0.47 percent) Yazidis.”

  2. But meanwhile the southern border remains open.

    http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/census-illegal-immigration-up-57-to-550000-one-new-albuquerque-a-year/article/2592688

“Illegal immigration has exploded 57 percent in less than two years, with at least 550,000 new undocumented aliens pouring into America in a trend that is set to continue growing, according to new Census data.

In an analysis of the numbers, the Center for Immigration Studies found illegal and legal immigration have reached over 1.5 million a year, a new 15 year high, and a 39 percent increase over 2013.

“You’re looking at a big jump,” said author Steven A. Camarota in an interview with Secrets”

“Camarota’s 17-page analysis said that immigration over the last two years reached 3.1 million, or more than 1.5 million annually. In the prior two years, 2012-2013, 2.3 million arrived or about 1.1 million each year.”

“But the number of illegals was shocking, surging to at least 550,000 in 2014 and 2015, up from 350,000 in 2012 and 2013. That’s the size of Albuquerque, N.M.

The report dispels projections that immigration — legal and illegal — would drop due to a pull back in immigrants from Mexico. Instead, it has grown with new countries in Latin America, Cuba and Asia fueling the surge, said the CIS report titled, “New Data: Immigration Surged in 2014 and 2015.””

  3. Oh look, the same tactics Hamas and their supporters use. Get a cease fire ordered, and they use the opportunity to resupply.

    http://globalnews.ca/news/2728843/syrias-cease-fire-strengthening-al-qaida-branch/

“Al-Qaida’s branch in Syria has recruited thousands of fighters, including teenagers, and taken territory from government forces in a successful offensive in the north, illustrating how the cease-fire put in place by Russia and the United States to weaken the militants has in many ways backfired.

The branch, known as the Nusra Front, has churned out a flood of videos — slickly produced in the style of its rival, the Islamic State group — that show off its recruitment drive. In one, young men line up for combat training. In another, a bearded al-Qaida fighter in a mosque urges a crowd of men to join jihad. A third shows an al-Qaida-linked cleric leading a graduation ceremony, handing out weapons to young men.

Since March, the group recruited 3,000 new fighters, including teenagers, in comparison to an average of 200 to 300 a month before, according to Rami Abdurrahman, head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an activist group monitoring the conflict. He cited contacts within the Nusra Front. Other activists said hundreds living in camps for displaced people in the north have joined the al-Qaida branch.”

““Syria is right now the central front for al-Qaida’s jihad,” said Thomas Joscelyn, senior editor of the Long War Journal and an al-Qaida watcher for The Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, a U.S.-based think tank. “I don’t think a lot of people realize how many resources al-Qaida has invested in Syria.”

The Pentagon’s $500 million effort to train and equip a force of Syrian rebels to take on extremists in Syria — mainly IS — has all but collapsed.”

Huh. But Barry says “al-Quaida is on the run.”……..

I guess he meant to get more supplies and fighters.

  4. It’s gonna be a looooong, hot summer.

    http://dailycaller.com/2016/05/31/twenty-thousand-committed-to-anti-hillary-occupy-dnc-protest/

“More than twenty thousand people have committed to protest Hillary Clinton’s likely nomination at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia — and that number is quickly growing.

The protesters are united in their support for Bernie Sanders, as well as their opposition to “a fraudulent Hillary nomination,” according to the group’s website.

Their leaders have set up a Facebook group — titled Occupy DNC Convention — to organize housing and transportation.

Protesters are encouraged to read documents shared within the group. One document is titled “Civil Disobedience Training.” Another is titled “Health and Safety at Militant Actions” and includes tips on first-aid and withstanding teargas.”

“To date, more than 22,200 protesters have joined the group, which has received a permit to protest from the City of Philadelphia. The city has issued several permits for what look to be massive pro-Sanders protests throughout the convention.

Some groups are planning to protest the DNC even without a permit.”

And the other convention in Cleveland will be even worse.

  5. The restroom wars drag, so to speak, on:

    _____________________________

Maya Dillard Smith, interim director of the Georgia chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union, has resigned over the ACLU’s position on who can use which public restrooms. The resignation occurred after her two daughters were traumatized by encountering men in the women’s restroom. …

… A transgender activist — a biological male who goes by the name Cheryl Courtney-Evans — responded to Dillard Smith’s resignation by calling her “lazy,” “ill-educated,” and a “b–ch” who needs to sit down and “STFU.” No one who has seen LGBT activists in action will be surprised by this charming response. …

  6. And yeah, the conventions this summer will likely turn wild.

It’s been an upside-down political year so far — and it’s not even close to being over. I’ve sworn off making any predictions on how this one turns out. 🙂

  7. Interesting column by Camille Paglia:

… Meanwhile, former Bill Clinton advisor and pollster Douglas Schoen gave the strongest signal yet in a Wall Street Journal op-ed this week (“Clinton may not be the nominee”) that worried backstage huddles in the Democratic party establishment are reaching fever pitch.

The article’s floating of the idea of a Joe Biden-Elizabeth Warren substitute ticket (which I’ve been privately predicting to friends all year) is so evenly and magisterially phrased that I wondered if the text had been vetted by an approving White House. So this may be why Bernie Sanders (my candidate) has gone into overdrive—not to damage Hillary, as her acolytes spitefully claim, but to fight off the tactical insertion of Biden at the Democratic Convention in Philadelphia.

Sanders could rightly claim, on the basis of his long and strenuous primary campaign, that if anyone deserves the nomination vacated by a tarnished Hillary, it is he. If Sanders does defer to Biden, it will only be via enormous concessions, beginning with the unceremonious removal of devious DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz. …

Over on the GOP side, Donald Trump continues to gain strength, despite the nonstop artillery barrage of Democratic operatives and their clone army in the mainstream media. Trump just rolls on and on, despite every foot-in-mouth gaffe that would stop a normal campaign cold. He’s terrific on the radio, I must say. …

Trump’s boisterous, uncensored id makes a riveting contrast to Hillary’s plodding, joyless superego. Listening to her leaden attempts to tell rehearsed jokes is collective torture. …

… Trump is a stormily dynamic change-maker who will surely win this election unless the Democrats get their house in order and nominate a figure of honor and integrity. Bernie Sanders, who represents the wave of the future, is my first choice, but Joe Biden, with his international experience, would be a solid second. If the kamikaze party wants to nominate an ethically challenged incompetent like Hillary Clinton, then I’ll be voting Green for the second time. …

  8. SolarP, I think Hillary is Jezebel. Trump is either Saul when he was insane and chunking spears at David or Nebuchadnezer during the time he thought he was a wild animal.

  9. Trump thinks he’s Moses.

Hillary is more difficult. I put my copy of Josephus away so I can’t reference it. But after the Maccabean rebellion, Israel had a brief period of peach. However, it soon fell apart and eventually a cruel woman was queen briefly.
    They soon executed her.

Stretching it a bit, I’ll admit.
