Thank You for taking care of things when we are helpless to do anything. So often the world tries to tell us we are in control, but in reality, You truly do have the whole world in Your hands. Thankfully You hold it with a comforting grip to see people through difficult times.
Please calm anxiety in AJ as You have done for me. You are so good. As believers we could have no bigger help than You are to us. I praise You for the ways You have wonderfully made our bodies and minds so that if one does not function properly that You gave a doctor the mind to be able to make correction. You are beyond comprehension in the ways You work out things for good. I put complete trust in You for You always know best.
Please continue in helping Mumsee as she and Mike work through emotional issues at the Nest. Thank You for giving a good Mother’s Day to those who desired that. Thank You for making us all different in our needs and ways of giving and receiving love. Thank You for the variety of skills and talents given to Your children according to Your desires for their lives.
Thank You for those who consistently lift up needs here. It is a wonderful support group in times of need.
I pray for a good outcome on Art’s surgery, and a quick recovery. Please give a blessed result from AJ’s doctor visit. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen
I also lift up Kbells who needs an extra dose of Your comfort today. You know every part of her body that needs to be brought to good health. Please let the healing power of Jesus be felt in her life today. Amen.
Wow! The speaker system in the hospital just came on and a wonderful prayer was spoken over all here today. We have not heard that here at other times. It is a most wonderful hospital. The Catholics have that right as far as helping everyone here feel God’s love and comfort.♡
BG was born in a Catholic Hospital. Not only did they play the Providence Lullaby played throughout the whole hospital when she was born, but a nun (in black habit and everything) came to visit and pray with me before I took her home. They send me home with a lovely poem:
Babies Don’t Keep
Submitted By: Poockus
Mother, O Mother, come shake out your cloth,
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing, make up the bed,
Sew on a button and butter the bread.
Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She’s up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.
Oh, I’ve grown as shiftless as Little Boy Blue,
Lullabye, rockabye, lullabye loo.
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo
The shopping’s not done and theres nothing for stew
And out in the yard there’s a hullabaloo
But I’m playing Kanga and this is my Roo
Look! Aren’t his eyes the most wonderful hue?
Lullabye, rockaby lullabye loo.
The cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow
But children grow up as I’ve learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs; Dust go to sleep!
I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep.

I was also born in the Catholic hospital, St. Vincent’s, one of LA’s original hospitals I believe.
Prayers for Art’s procedure today, that it is the fix you’ve been praying for! He has to stay the night? Probably good so he (and you) can rest from it all.
A friend of mine also had an outpatient surgical procedure this morning, to remove a benign fibrous tumor, so please pray for her, that it’s as inconsequential as they anticipated going in and that she’ll recover quickly.
Donna, another thing we sort of have in common. I was not born at St. Vincent’s, but it was a leading edge heart hospital in the 60’s and 70’s and I had three heart surgeries done there (’62, ’69, and ’73) by two top surgeons.
Reading this psalm always makes me remember sitting in a circle during prayer meetings in the village in West Africa and singing this setting of the beginning verses. It was always so refreshing to sing the harmonies together:
Feeling nauseous, hoping it’s not those nine-day-old leftovers I discovered in my refrigerator this morning and ate for breakfast, thinking they were probably OK. Might not have been too smart a move…
I’m struggling with some anxiety today, too. The new piano method I’m using with my youngest daughter is very labor-intensive for the teacher. It’s a great program, but incorporates some pedagogical things I haven’t done as much with as I should have over the years I’ve been teaching. I’m feeling somewhat overwhelmed, and am beating myself up because, after 30 years teaching experience, I don’t think I should be feeling this way. It shouldn’t be so hard to build something new onto a pretty substantial base of knowledge. Prayers for wisdom as I proceed. Thanks.
Thank you for your prayer the Dr. appointment went well medically, though we did run into some insurance red tape that delayed us over an hour. Another appointment Thursday will hopefully fix the problem.
The woman, whose heart stopped twice when my husband music group was performing, had a triple by-bypass and is doing fine. She and her husband were on the dance floor with an EMT. We have one in the music group. Better for her to have had it then, than with no help around!
I skipped lunch today, but felt well enough this evening to eat some supper. Thanks for prayers.
I’m feeling more relaxed about the piano thing I mentioned above, too. Day is done, I got most of what I wanted to get accomplished finished, despite not feeling so great.
Husband is off for his around six weeks of mentor driving. That is where he takes his new CDL and partner drives with a mentor for two hundred hours or some such thing. Then he will feel like he is prepared to either continue with the company or look for something else or set the whole thing aside. I figure I have my dream life, time for him to shoot for his again. Though the Olympics were a pretty good topping for his Army career. And then adopting some children…. Anyway, prayer for him to keep safe and focused (his arthritis seems to improve as he is kept very busy with the driving) and prayer for us. Thanks.
I have a doctors appointment this morning, and I’ve been up stressing about it since 3 AM.

As government takes over our medical care, I’m afraid hospitals run by religious orders will face more restrictions.

Care at Catholic hospitals sounds heavenly. I won’t horrify/bore you with stories of giving birth in an Army hospital . . .

The doc who delivered me was the brother of Dennis Day (of Jack Bennie fame) and then married actress Ann Blyth —
In 1953, Blyth married obstetrician James McNulty, brother of singer Dennis Day, who had introduced them.
My mom figured that made me kind of famous. 🙂

Thanks everyone. I’m back now and relieved it’s over.
But now I have to schedule a colonoscopy because I turn 50 this week. Yay. 😦
