  1. Silliness out of Indiana or, as the headline puts it, ‘proof that colleges are making people stupid’:

Rumors of a klansman on campus have proven false after a priest innocently made his way through Bloomington.

Last night around 9:15 PM, social media became a furious storm of confusion regarding a man in white robes roaming along 10th St. and purportedly armed with a whip.

Students thought the white robes indicated Klu Klux Klan affiliation.

In the spirit of Hoosiers helping Hoosiers, students were quick to look out for each other by spreading word of this potential safety risk. …

  2. The last time the KKK lynched anyone was 1981 in Mobile, AL They are serving prison time and forensics and police work have gotten a lot better. I doubt even the most ardent Klansman has the stomach anymore or the strength to hang someone.
A friend of mine who lives in Richmond said they have been passing our flyers in her upscale neighborhood. The police were involved and there was a community meeting. Her house did not receive one, probably because her husband is Jewish.
I have said before that people are going to push and push at each other until we DO have another “uprising” of some sort.

  3. From Politico:

“Newt Gingrich on Wednesday marveled at one of Donald Trump’s biggest accomplishments in the 2016 race — making Ted Cruz appear normal.”

    😉

    Strange, strange year.

  4. From 538 on what Wisconsin means …

What was really different about tonight is not how poorly Trump did, but how well Cruz did….

…. It’s Cruz who had the breakthrough, getting 49 percent of the vote as compared to between 25 and 30 percent in the four Wisconsin border states. Cruz also won all sorts of demographic groups that he doesn’t usually win.

Maybe that means Cruz has finally emerged as the singular alternative to Trump and that Kasich — who’s won only his home state of Ohio — will fade further into the background.

Or maybe it means that Republican voters are behaving tactically in order to stop Trump, and could vote for Kasich in states and congressional districts where he runs stronger later on. Neither is great news for Trump, whose Achilles Heel has always been that he gains fewer votes than other candidates as the field winnows. Still, the permutations of how everything plays out from here are complicated even by FiveThirtyEight’s detail-loving standards.

  5. Funny.

    REPUBLICAN RIOTS, AND OTHER OXYMORONS

I have to admit to being amused at the prospect, touted both by Donald Trump and his Wormtongue, Roger Stone, that there will be riots in Cleveland if the nomination is “stolen” from Trump.

First of all, try to picture a “Republican riot.” Do Republicans even know how to riot?

My image of a Republican riot is filling out strongly-worded comment cards for the membership club suggestion box. Republicans are folks who call the electrician with one hand while stirring the martinis with the other when a light bulb needs changing.

“Republican riot” makes about as little sense as “Democratic economic literacy” or “Hillary’s truthfulness.” …

  6. Not really suprising that Obama would turn the dogs on him. He must protect his Precious after all.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3525686/Planned-Parenthood-videos-bring-raid-abortion-activist-says.html

“An anti-abortion activist who made undercover videos at Planned Parenthood clinics claims the Department of Justice raided his home.
David Daleiden is the founder of Center for Medical Progress which released the controversial sting videos about the abortion provider last year as it claimed the organization was harvesting organs.”
“The 27 year old was also indicted for a charge related to purchasing human organs.
In a Facebook post, Daleiden said that California Department of Justice agents raided his Orange County home on Tuesday and seized all his Planned Parenthood footage.
Agents also seized his laptop and multiple hard drives in the raid, he claims.
Daleiden says the raid is part of a politically motivated campaign against him by California Attorney General Kamala Harris – a Democrat running for the U.S. Senate.”

  7. I’ve been readin CATO Institute’s blog posts of an on lately. Here is a good one concerning Big Government unaccountability.

    Unaccountable Government in Washington, D.C.

    Concluding lines:
“Government bureaucracies, programs, and, indeed, much of government itself exist for their own sake — they work for their own benefit, not to serve their constituents. That makes the cycle of failure, excuse, and demand for more money inevitable.

We should keep that in mind the next time a politician promises to get rid of waste, fraud, and abuse — i.e., to make government more efficient. He might as well promise to make pigs fly.”
