Once again, I come with a concern brought by nineteen year old daughter. A friend of hers has been married for six years and has a nine month old. She is seeking a divorce from her husband and custody of the son. Husband has been physically violent and most recently, is in jail for hitting her and throwing the nine month old. He will be getting out so and, though there is a no contact order, is fearful. We, of course, offered a place to stay where she could remain hidden while staying in the State to finish the legal things needed. Both profess to be Christians and have sought counseling which works for a while. Prayer for wisdom and safety for all concerned. There is so much of this out there….and yet we are told the Kingdom of God is here in us.
I am praying, Mumsee. How very difficult and sad a situation.
Tonight is the (scheduled) lesson for my student whose parents’ recent behavior has been questionable and anxiety-inducing for me a couple of times this past week. I praise God that the Lord has released me from my fears now — I am still wary, of course, not attempting to bury my head in the sand about potential dangers to myself or my family, but not overcome with anxiety, either, anymore. Thank you for your past prayers about that.
Whatever happens tonight, whether they show up or not, please pray for wisdom in my dealings with that family. Above all, I want to reflect Christ in my interactions with them. I don’t know what’s going to happen, but God does, and I want to be in the center of His will.
Please pray for Art who is now in the really high waters of the tax tidal wave. He never has been a good swimmer. Last night he said the only food he’d had time to eat was a piece of left over birthday cake. He looked so ragged last night and had no appetite. He had a little food but not much. This is just such a tough time.
My brother keeps getting interviews which is positive, but no job yet. He calls me frequently.
Michelle, it seems like a possibility, but brother lives north of Atlanta, and the office is south of Atlanta so it would be a two hour drive at least. Brother’s car, used heavily in his sales work, is on it’s ‘last leg’ with probably 250,000 miles. Also husband’s business does not generate enough income to pay brother’s income and benefits needs. Husband does not pay insurance for any staff, or any benefits such as vacation and holiday pay. It is truly a very small business.
Praying, Janice, Kim & KBells. And praises on your report, Michelle.
I found out this afternoon at church that a dear older friend of mine, Bev, who has been in and out of the hospital in recent years, and was widowed last August, has now come home from her most recent hospitalization, and will receive hospice care at home. Bev has always been such an encouragement to me (we share a birthday, too, which is special), and she is ready to meet her Savior.
Please pray for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as all her loved ones. There are many. I am heartbroken and can’t stop crying this afternoon — I can’t imagine how her relatives feel. She poured herself into her family with such wisdom and love.
Janice – Could you get Art to drink something like Boost or Ensure? And/or maybe a protein drink? I’m assuming he can at least drink something while he’s working.

I don’t suppose your brother could help your husband, could he?

NancyJill, I want you to know I’m praying for you and your husband, too, as he transitions into retirement, which you mentioned another day.
