Prayer Requests 2-20-16

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 102

¹Hear my prayer, O Lord, and let my cry come unto thee.

Hide not thy face from me in the day when I am in trouble; incline thine ear unto me: in the day when I call answer me speedily.

For my days are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burned as a hearth.

My heart is smitten, and withered like grass; so that I forget to eat my bread.

By reason of the voice of my groaning my bones cleave to my skin.

I am like a pelican of the wilderness: I am like an owl of the desert.

I watch, and am as a sparrow alone upon the house top.

Mine enemies reproach me all the day; and they that are mad against me are sworn against me.

For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mingled my drink with weeping.

10 Because of thine indignation and thy wrath: for thou hast lifted me up, and cast me down.

11 My days are like a shadow that declineth; and I am withered like grass.

12 But thou, O Lord, shall endure for ever; and thy remembrance unto all generations.

13 Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come.

14 For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and favour the dust thereof.

15 So the heathen shall fear the name of the Lord, and all the kings of the earth thy glory.

16 When the Lord shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory.

17 He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer.

18 This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the Lord.

19 For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary; from heaven did the Lord behold the earth;

20 To hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death;

21 To declare the name of the Lord in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem;

22 When the people are gathered together, and the kingdoms, to serve the Lord.

23 He weakened my strength in the way; he shortened my days.

24 I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days: thy years are throughout all generations.

25 Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.

26 They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:

27 But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.

28 The children of thy servants shall continue, and their seed shall be established before thee.

  1. I have a request for my friend/neighbor Jimmy. There was a fire in town last night a few blocks from me that burned 4 homes, one of them was his mother’s home. 2 were totally destroyed and his mother’s and another sustained heavy fire damage to the third floor and a lot of water damage. Thankfully no one was hurt, but the lives of several families are gonna be majorly disrupted. They won’t know how much until they can get back in today. His mother will being staying with him for the time being.

Please keep these folks in prayer as they recover from this.

  2. Heavenly Father,

Thank You for listening to our prayers in whatever form, even groans, for the needs brought to our attention.

Thank You for love, for being pure love, for giving examples of the depths of love available to those who are in Christ. Thank You for allowing Kim to share the example of long lasting marital love. Please comfort all who now feel an absence of a well loved/loving spouse. I pray that as well for the newly widowed at my church.

Lord, I lift up those in AJ’s neighborhood who have lost so much through fire that does not stop to consider treasures to be saved. Thank You that lives were saved, the tresses of Your creation. Please be with AJ’s neighbor and the mother who will now be sharing living space. Ease their adjustment. May this be a time of enjoyment of family togetherness for a season. I pray for any children involved who will have a hard time feeling secure with the loss of home and belongings to fire. Please do not let them be afflicted with nightmares and a sense that You don’t care about what happens to them. I pray for pets involved, that they will be okay and quickly forget their ordeal. Thank You for keeping each person involved in whatever way in Your hands of goodness. Bless them in ways not considered as possible. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen

  3. I can’t discuss the issue that has prompted my problem, but it’s brought to a head things I thought I had dealt with years ago. Curious how emotions wait to leap out and attack at the most inopportune moment . . . 🙂

I’ll ask for prayer this weekend as we talk about and examine what’s at the heart of my uneasiness and then through the next week as I enter discussions that have nothing to do with this–but could get sabotaged by it.

My husband is being wonderful, as always.

Sorry to be so vague, but I can’t really explain to myself yet what is going on . . . Maybe it’s the ants and the counterfeit money pushing me over the edge, but I’m clinging hard to Nehemiah’s profound words: “I am doing a good work and I cannot come down.”

    Thanks.

  4. Michelle – I don’t know if this would speak to you as it spoke to me, or if it is germane to your circumstances, but one of the things Kim shared yesterday leapt out at me – “KEEP CARRYING THE WATER UNTIL IT BECOMES THE WINE”.

    Praying for you.

  5. Prayers, certainly.

Day 3 of the illness going around our house — 6th Arrow got it Thursday, 4th Arrow yesterday, 5th Arrow today (12-year-old son). Bad coughs, fevers, sore throats, headaches, extreme lethargy. None of the adults has gotten it (yet). Please pray we all won’t have it at once. Don’t know how long this is going to last, and so far it’s been somebody new getting it each day.

  6. Heavenly Father,

Again I lift up those in AJ’s community as they struggle with their losses this weekend. Please give some joys mixed in with the sadness as only You can give when special comfort is needed.

Please help Michelle to have peace and rest in Jesus. She has worked so hard lately and has such big projects she is dealing with. If she feels weak in any sense, please show Your strength through her weakness. I ask that the Holy Spirit will guide her into complete trust in You.

Abba, our good Father God, please help those who are sick in 6 Arrows family to quickly recover from this awful virus. I pray that neither parent will be afflicted if possible. They’ve been through enough, already.

Thank You for Kare’s promising good news. Thank You that Cheryl and her husband had a nice trip and that they are so well matched with what they enjoy. Help them to deal with deaths in the family and any awkwardness of status due to past and current connections.

I lift up all the family members and friends of the blog family who are not saved as of this evening. Please soften hearts toward Jesus overnight through dreams or some form of distress that shows the dire importance of deciding to follow Jesus. So long people wait for loved ones to turn and believe. Please seek the lost sheep and drag them in even if unwilling. Please don’t let go! You are known to be the Hound of Heaven. I pray for You to be active tonight in a major way.

I lift up Jo and Mumsee and Mike in their special work with young people. Please keep them well and alert to whatever needs to be done to keep the young ones on track. Help any in their care who may be attention seeking in a negative manner. Thank You for the diligence of Jo, Mumsee, and Mike to do what they do day after day.

Please meet the needs of the many I have not mentioned. Every request for prayer on this blog is so important and Your answers are always on time and received with thanks and praise. May You be glorified each and every moment for the good work You are doing all over the globe. I pray in the blessed name of Jesus, Amen

  7. Thank you, Janice, and all who are praying. Although I am the next one, and wish I could have avoided it — the coughing started a little before I went to bed, and now my eyes are quite watery — the virus does seem to be moving pretty quickly in and out. Sixth Arrow, the one who got it first, on Thursday, is improving and has her appetite back. She also had more energy yesterday than the first two days. That gives me hope that, even if we all get it, the ones at the early end of the cycle could be pretty well over it when the later ones get it.

Pray for the eight-year-old, who might be taking care of most or all of us for a bit? 😉

  8. Yikes! It just gets worse. I just had to write a letter of apology to my family members for my words yesterday. I’m a mess!

Thanks be to GOD I can go to church, confess my sin once more (which I’ve already done this morning), receive the grace and forgiveness of God (well, already there, too), and BE QUIET!

    I don’t know how real people live . . .

  9. Yuck. Miserable, those nasty colds. Hope yours is short-lived, Karen.

Well, here we go — now 3rd Arrow (18-year-old daughter) got it, and I was thinking, “That’s five of us now, those of us who are home all day with each other — of course.”

Hubby and adult son are the only ones who haven’t gotten it…

Except on the way out the door, heading to church, hubby barked out a good one — will it go beyond that? Hmmm. And 1st Arrow coughs all the time anyway; probably allergies.

I am trying to humor myself, thinking our family should be renamed The Coughing Cacophony Chorus. 😛

  10. Michelle, if it’s any consolation, I know exactly what you mean. AJ would have had to delete a post of mine if I had come on here and typed all the black thoughts and cuss words that were going through my head last night about all manner of minutiae. That I didn’t say any of it out loud or on a screen is purely God’s grace. Welcome to my mess.

  11. okay, I will go write that email asking for forgiveness for talking to someone about work in my enthusiasm at church yesterday. He was just sitting there. We are asked over and over again not to mention work outside work hours, especially to supervisors. For me, I don’t mind at all, that is why I am here and I don’t have family here.

  12. I’m done joking around — this stuff is brutal. I have not been so sick in decades, and 6th Arrow, who seemed to be improving, is crying and coughing so hard tonight, she throws up. Lord have mercy, all I can do is hold her and cry with her.

  13. 6 arrows, sounds like that flu I had last year. At one point — after coughing so hard I almost went to my knees — I remember realizing how the flu really could be fatal to someone who was otherwise weak, physically compromised, elderly, etc.
