Sixth Arrow (8-year-old daughter) is sick with a cough (though that has eased some after I gave her some elderberry a couple hours ago), and a fever. Lots of moaning/whimpering. She was the one having pain/stiffness in her legs earlier this week. Thanks for prayers.
Today’s Loving Your Husband Inspiration and a heartfelt prayer request (I have her permission to share and ask for your prayers)
Thank you all for the prayers, cards, texts, food, gifts, encouragement, and outpouring of love you have shown to our family. I wanted to give an update because it’s impossible for me to field the many phone calls and texts I get every day so if I don’t respond please extend me a pass. Hospice says Mitch is declining and they are now coming daily instead of 2 to 3 times a week. Today he was not able to take in any food or drink. Please continue to pray for our family as we are entering a very difficult phase for all of us. One of our daughters is expecting a baby any day now and so emotions are all over the place! We love all of you and will never forget your generosity, caring, and concern as we traveled the roughest journey we’ve ever been on! I still don’t understand any of this but I keep reminding myself that as much as I love Mitch, God loves him even more! I really believe and trust in that but my heart still feels pain like I’ve never known before.
I remember when I went through that, Linda. No one ever told me to stay away from people any distance. I have heard this since, but at the times I never remember being warned much about it except for holding a baby close for an extended period.
Chas, a co-worker with thyroid cancer had to go through that isolation period (a friend loaned her a mobile home for the weekend). She couldn’t even be around her doggies. 😦 Radioactive.
She’s now doing well, by the way, and that’s been a couple years ago. 🙂
Speaking of radioactive (although he really wasn’t), Lee had a nuclear stress test yesterday for his heart. He has to repeat the test this Sunday afternoon. (They said about 40% of people having the test need to come back for another go-round of it. Or maybe it was 60% do, & 40% don’t? Not sure now.) He’s also supposed to have an ultrasound sometime, but that hasn’t been scheduled yet.
One of Emily’s classmates failed her second attempt at the exit exam. She will have to pay for another semester of school to take a remedial class, then take the test again. Emily is shocked, because this young lady is very smart, & did very well in all the classes. She thinks perhaps her friend is over-thinking, or second-guessing herself. (Some people, as you all know, “choke” while taking tests.)
So I told Emily to tell her that I would pray for her. Please join me in praying that S will do well when she is able to take the test again.
Prayers appreciated for PNG. Some parts of the country are still in drought. Here in the Highlands we have had so much rain that there is flooding and bridges are washing away. There was a landslide also on the Highlands highway between here and Yonki Lake, this is the route one of my students takes daily to come to class. he is from the Ukaraine and takes a bus to get to school, actually two buses with an older boy to care for him.
The nation cannot afford to repair all these roads or bridges or feed folks. The economy is in real trouble.
Karen, sometimes it is true that the more you KNOW the worse you do on a test. Tests are usually made to trip you up and there are real world answers and there are tests answers. After being in real estate for 12 years I seriously doubt I could past the real estate test. Some of the “theory” just doesn’t work in a real world situation.
I also knew a woman who had been an insurance office assistant for a number of years. She knew everything you could possibly know about insurance and did most of the agent’s work. He sent her through the class 3 times and she took the test 3 times. She failed all 3 times. He sent me to the class once and I passed the test with flying colors—I know absolutely nothing about insurance and was miserable trying to keep it all straight. 😉
I have heard of people being warned like that, Karen, that is why I find it strange that I wasn’t warned. I am talking about the specialist and the technicians. Just strange. Always better to be safe than sorry. Also, that seems like a long time for being away from others. I am pretty sure I went to a family gathering with lots of children shortly (maybe the next day) after my procedure. Perhaps they are more careful these days. I am talking back in the nineties.
Praying for all of the above…Kim thank you for sharing the posts of your friend…I can feel her hurting heart and the deep love she has for her husband. I sit and cry as I read the post…working in Hospice I saw all she describes …and having walked it with my own Father, the pain is so real. She and her family are held closely in my heart and prayers…

Today was the day for my radioactive iodine. I am home bound until Sunday afternoon. I can go for walks just need to stay 6 feet away from everyone.
