Prayer Requests 2-9-16

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 92

¹It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O Most High:

To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night,

Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound.

For thou, Lord, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands.

O Lord, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep.

A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this.

When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever:

But thou, Lord, art most high for evermore.

For, lo, thine enemies, O Lord, for, lo, thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.

10 But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.

11 Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, and mine ears shall hear my desire of the wicked that rise up against me.

12 The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

13 Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God.

14 They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;

15 To shew that the Lord is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.

  1. Husband and son are off to the city for husband’s second eye surgery. This time it is not an all day thing as they got the paperwork done last time. So they should be back by noon so son can head out to school and the last basketball game.

  2. Praying Karen.

More prayers for my co-worker, she’s here today but is having some weird after-effects and now they want her to come back in. She’s very worried and upset, naturally.

Anything with your eyesight is just scary territory …

  3. Lee is scheduled to have a nuclear stress test next week, & an ultrasound at some time. Upon hearing that Emily just finished LPN school, the doctor told Lee to have her take his blood pressure a couple times & week, & write it down.

  4. I need prayer for sleep. I can’t continue and really need a nap. I may try that in about an hour if I start drooping enough I could fall asleep. This is awful.

Adorables, however, are coming over to be babysat in three hours, so none of this may be possible, sigh.

  5. Michelle, I’ve struggled with insomnia all my life, but the past year (on and off) has been the worst ever, in terms of often I wake up in the middle of the night and can’t go back to sleep, or I stay awake till 4:00 a.m. The last week or ten days I started wearing a sleep mask, and though it is a little awkward when I roll over (and have to readjust it), it really seems to have helped my sleep. I have no idea if it will help long-term, but honestly just getting a couple of weeks of decent sleep is a real blessing, and something I haven’t really been familiar with. I think I’m going to sleep a little quicker, when I do awaken during the night I don’t stay awake, and I’m sleeping late enough in the morning to get my full eight hours on average–which is not at all typical for me.

I started using it because I saw a doctor’s column in a newsletter on sleep, and he said the body naturally manufactures melatonin, but only if it is completely dark. If any light is hitting your cornea, it won’t. Well, our bedroom is nowhere near dark enough–we have a night light in the bathroom, a glowing clock facing the bed, and then blinds next to me that can let in an awful lot of light as it starts to get light. I already had the mask for use in traveling, so I decided to try it at home.

  6. I’d read that nightlights disrupt sleep — I used to like them, but after reading that I got rid of mine. Then again, I (normally) don’t suffer from insomnia.

  7. I have found that if I sleep in a hoodie and pull that over my eyes that it helps me to sleep better because it cuts out light and sound which is always around in a metro area. Also, with shorter hair, it keeps my neck warm and I feel cozy.

I just looked up sleep in a new book I got from a Physical Therapist, Z Altug, in Los Angeles,CA, titled Sustainable Fitness and at one point he mentions a study that showed people with sleep disturbances could be helped by eating two kiwi fruit an hour before bedtime. I had never heard of that before, but it could be worth a try. At least it would not be harmful to try it. Personally, I always get sleepy when I eat turkey so I would probably use that if I needed something.
