Prayer Requests 2-8-16

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 91

¹He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.

Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.

Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;

10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.

14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.

15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.

16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

  1. My colleague’s sister-in-law lost her husband of five months on Saturday. He was 43, went out for a bike ride, collapsed and died in the parking lot of a heart attack. He leaves his 31 year old widow and a 1 year old son.

    Not Christians. She, understandably, cannot stop weeping.

    Unbearably sad.

    Thank you.

  2. Another praise and a thanks for hanging in with me through the last year as we’ve prayed for Stargazer. No job yet, BUT, he got the encouragement I’ve been praying for on Saturday. He’s now an adjunct professor at our local JC.

    It means nothing except he’s on the rolls to be a substitute professor (did anyone ever have a substitute professor in college? Not me). But, he can now write the title on his resume–which has got to help.

    Today he’s applying for more jobs and answering some questions from a college pal who is trying hard to get him hired. He works in the industry in San Francisco and has been hounding Stargazer–he’s also the one who provided the book that has been very helpful. I can’t remember the title, but it has to do with applying for work in the technology industry. It has a couple hundred pages of problem sets applicants need to be able to answer.

    Probably not all of them, but Stargazer is a hard worker and thorough. He’ll master the book, I’m sure.

    I’m a thankful mama today.

  3. How sad, michelle. 😦 Prayers for the wife.

    Pray for a co-worker of mine, S, who has minor eye surgery scheduled today (diabetes related). Supposed to be quick and easy, but she’s understandably stressed as she’ll be awake with a local anesthesia only. Hopefully they’ll at least sedate her. Pray for a calm spirit and for an easy, successful surgery.

    I asked if they could combine it with some Lasik as long as they were in there so she’d at least emerge with 20/20 vision and not need to wear glasses, but she didn’t think so. 😉

  4. Sad, michelle. We just read a story on a little boy named Luke. He has a very rare form of cancer and suffers from much pain. We know his grandparents, who are very active in the pro-life movement. His mother also went to the same school as our daughters. All prayers would be welcome for Luke, I know.
