Prayer Requests 1-27-16

It’s Wednesday, so don’t forget to pray for The Gambia, and for Ajisuun as well.

Anyone else?

Psalm 80

¹Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; thou that dwellest between the cherubims, shine forth.

Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh stir up thy strength, and come and save us.

Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

O Lord God of hosts, how long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people?

Thou feedest them with the bread of tears; and givest them tears to drink in great measure.

Thou makest us a strife unto our neighbours: and our enemies laugh among themselves.

Turn us again, O God of hosts, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

Thou hast brought a vine out of Egypt: thou hast cast out the heathen, and planted it.

Thou preparedst room before it, and didst cause it to take deep root, and it filled the land.

10 The hills were covered with the shadow of it, and the boughs thereof were like the goodly cedars.

11 She sent out her boughs unto the sea, and her branches unto the river.

12 Why hast thou then broken down her hedges, so that all they which pass by the way do pluck her?

13 The boar out of the wood doth waste it, and the wild beast of the field doth devour it.

14 Return, we beseech thee, O God of hosts: look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine;

15 And the vineyard which thy right hand hath planted, and the branch that thou madest strong for thyself.

16 It is burned with fire, it is cut down: they perish at the rebuke of thy countenance.

17 Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou madest strong for thyself.

18 So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.

19 Turn us again, O Lord God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

  1. Second Arrow, our daughter who is the vet tech, is having a beloved cat of hers put down today. He got cancer, and it is in his brain now. She came for a visit yesterday and brought him along, and he couldn’t walk well anymore, bumping into walls frequently.

This is the third pet she is losing now in two years time.

Fourth Arrow, too (14-year-old daughter), is quite the animal lover, and knows that this cat, who lived with us for many years before oldest daughter moved out, is going to be put down today. She is grieving the loss as well.

Thanks for prayers for tender hearts. (I cried some yesterday, too, when I heard the news, but tried to keep it in for Sixth Arrow’s sake, our eight-year-old daughter, whom 2nd Arrow didn’t want to be told. She would be heartbroken, and oldest daughter didn’t want youngest daughter to know that was the last time she would see the cat, as it would likely ruin the time they had together at the end. She’ll do better finding out later, we believe.)

  2. Prayers for my dad would be appreciated. My mom is still not doing very well and he is both tired and stressed. He is even looking into hiring some home health help. She’s been sickly for over a year and everything has fallen on him. My dad is a spry 83–but he does get tired.
